"Yes, watchful... always watchful." Her voice was distant as she began to lose herself in thought again. Watchful... In her case, just alert? 'Watching' would not exactly work. But the others would watch for her, as they always did, and she would listen for them if need be. She heard the bells around his neck sounding as Donner moved his head, presumably watching at that very moment.

She wondered why everyone made fun of Donner so much. He had some quirks and he was gruff and stubborn and sure, he was the oldest, but it seemed to her that he was a good bull at heart. Maybe she was being swayed by the fact that he'd been kind to her, since whenever others were mocking him she'd never said a word against it. Ah well, he was perfectly capable of handling it himself and did not need some timid cow poking her head into things.

At a nearby bird's song she blinked out of her thoughts. She shifted her hooves and nosed at the snow, feeling around for something potentially edible and fishing in her head for something else to say. Come on, Sesilida, she chided herself silently. Think of something. It's not that hard. "We've been very lucky so far. Whatever you... we... all of us choose to do, I'm sure it will turn out fine."

Ah, well, Donner didn’t mind the teasing that much. Not usually, anyway. If it got bad enough, he would simply remove himself for a bit. That solved the problem to his satisfaction, although he could never stay far away for long. He would always get worried that Rudolph would wander into trouble, or perhaps Tumi would, or even Sesilida would encounter some sort of danger. It was unlikely, given that her brother was typically around, but it was still possible. Anyway, it was good for the others to laugh. Everyone needed a laugh when things were tough.

The bells on his neck jingled again as he turned to look back at the white cow once more, his eyes softening slightly. She really was very sweet and would be a good mother one day, even if she didn’t see it. For a moment he hesitated before nudging her gently with his nose, trying to direct her just a little to her left. “There’s some fresh greenery there,” he said helpfully, eager to prove his awesome plant-finding skills.

Alright, and it was a little excuse to nudge her, if only for a brief moment.

“Thank you for the advice, Sesilida. I’ll consider it carefully.” And, hopefully, she would consider his offer as well.

She followed his nudge, rather unsuccessfully attempting to keep her secretively pleased smile to herself. The act of pulling up and eating the plants helped to hide it a bit. It was still funny, in a way, to witness Donner acting like this. But it was starting to grow on her. So soon! Was she really that easily won over? It was actually kind of embarrassing. Well aware that she was probably being affected by the fact that no one else had asked her to think about standing with him before, she finished chewing what she'd bitten off, musing, and then lifted her head. She nudged him back, aiming for his shoulder or so. Then she smiled, eyes closing, and lowered her head to the greenery again.

Standing as close as he was, Donner could easily see the smile on Sesilida’s muzzle. Even more important than the smile, she had nudged him! A less majestic animal would have gone into a series of leaps, squeals, and bounds known as the ‘victory dance’. Even Donner was tempted to do that right now, but… well, he wasn’t that far gone. Oh, and it probably would have frightened Sesilida.

Instead, he simply grinned like an idiot, practically carrying around an aura of happiness. Sure, Sesilida hadn’t really said ‘yes’, but he felt like he was making progress here. He was very patient. He felt like he could wait for Sesilida to be ready. As Sesilida started feeding once more, Donner kept his head held high, feeling absurdly proud of his small victory on this day. It wasn’t much, but it was a victory all the same. And, perhaps, it was one of the most important ones he had made in a long time.

Donner was right; it probably would have scared Sesilida if he started doing a 'victory dance'. As it was, she thought she could sense his happiness and though she was laughing at herself for it this made her happier in turn. Maybe Anlach was getting to her somehow as well. Her rational side said that it was just a reaction to getting attention and that she need not be carried away.

She heard something that pricked her ears up. Raising her head she listened carefully. "Ah..." Suddenly she found herself timid again. It was definitely a reindeer coming, and she thought she knew who it was. After only another moment of listening she was certain. She knew her brother's gait anywhere. What would he think? He was very protective of her. But it was just Donner, so why would it be a problem? And she was an adult after all. Still she was nervous and wasn't sure why.

"Ahm, I can hear Glosoli coming back." She winced. "Not that it... matters..." Now she sounded like she was trying to keep his interest a secret, which was stupid because it was not a big deal. Yes, good job Sesilida. Make it all awkward.
