"Oh, they seemed closer than Kiwi and I, even," Lele said with a smile. "Absolutely dear to each other, obviously. I was glad to add a bit of entertainment into their lives."
She fell silent as Tsuki spoke, her eyes softening. Resting a paw on her daughter's, she let out a soft sigh. "I'll miss you," she said simply. "Well, obviously. But I know you need to get out there and find someone, find a friend as dear as Kiwi is to me. But you'd better come visit. Every five to ten days, depending on how far away said lion is." She smirked down at the white wolf.
"Damn straight I'm the craziest mother!" she yipped, sliding to her belly as well. "And don't you forget it, missy."
"Another story?" Sighing dramatically, she said, "Well, I suppose."
"Okay, this one is about that great oaf of a lion you call your uncle. Sweetest lion I've ever met, really, but the strangest, too. As you know, of course, Kiwi doesn't really like eating meat - or rather, killing for meat. Until we met, he didn't realize that most lions actually hunted instead of scavenging." She grinned. "Sufficed to say, I was shocked in the first few days we spent together. We met near the jungle, and so we traveled into it, just for a bit of sight-seeing. I mentioned that I was getting hungry and he agreed, so he wandered off. I assumed that a big lion like him was off taking down an elephant for lunch or something, but he came back with a branch of berries!
'I couldn't find any scraps, so I found these,' he said, sounding perfectly natural. 'It won't fill you up or anything, but it'll tide us over until we can find an old kill.' I just stared at him as he started carefully picking these little berries, smaller than his own eyes, off that branch. For the gods' sakes, his muzzle was stained with red, but not blood... juice!"
Lele laughed, looking at Tsuki. "Well, I wasn't sure if he was a total psycho or just really clueless, so I mentioned that I had seen some hares a bit back. Berries didn't get rid of hunger, so if he wanted to go catch one, I'd be happy to help. He gave me a blank look, his scrawny tuft of adolescent mane hanging in his eyes, and said, 'Oh, I don't hunt unless I can't find anything else to eat.' What a freak of nature!"
With a devious grin, she finished, "By the way, feel free to tease him about that next time you see him. He still tries to scavenge instead of hunting, if at all possible. Good thing he's in a pride now and doesn't have to catch his own food. His respect for life is commendable, but totally foolish!"

Tsuki's eyes glistened with mischief, and she seemed to take the story in, as if registering it for future use. She let out a laugh, and her tail whirred with delight as she did.
"I'll mention it to 'im, Mother!" she grinned from ear to ear at this, and chuckled, "I won't let him forget it. That's some valuable information you've given me there!"
And at that, she laughed. She couldn't help herself - couldn't keep herself from laughing at her mother's stories. This was why she absolutely adored Umilele... she was a professional astrologer and the most creative, funny person she'd ever met. Her mother. Tsuki's face almost glowed with pride.
She hated to think that she would be leaving soon. In fact, it was already getting late - they'd pretty much spent the whole afternoon together, chatting away, mother and daughter.
Tsuki's eyes softened, and she placed a playful paw on top of her mother's.
"We'll see eachother soon, Mum," she stated, as if it were pure fact, and nothing could get in it's way, "And when we do, I'll be the one with stories to tell... I promise!"
She grinned.
"And, as your successor, I have to make them even better than yours!"

Lele smirked at Tsuki's final words, flicking her shoulder with a paw. "Well, you can go ahead an try, dear," she teased, her eyes flashing playfully.
But, no matter how much she tried to push it out of her mind, the inevitable had arrived. Her baby was leaving. Suddenly seriously, she moved forward and rested her muzzle on the white wolf's shoulder, letting out a soft sigh. "Promise to visit?" she murmured, closing her eyes. "I'll miss you, Tsuki. I hope you find what you're looking for. I'll keep an eye on the stars for you."
After a pause, she added, "Besides, I'm going to be surrounded by men now. Zor, Kiwi, Teke, Kaikura... Moyo and Auri are the only girls besides me. I blame you if you forget to visit, then come home and find that I've lost my mind."

Tsuki shot her mother a warm smile, and placed a forepaw over her mother's muzzle.
"I will visit you, worry wart!" she snorted, playfully, "I'll be fine. You'll be fine. You've got the boys to look after you... or rather, you've got to look after the boys!"
She didn't want to break away from the embrace... her mother's fur was so warm, and her words so gentle. She almost felt as if she were a child again. It was a nice feeling. A warm feeling.
"I'll see you again, don't you worry!" she gently slipped away from her mother's touch, and her eyes softened, "I'll make sure I come around. Heck, it'll probably be a matter of days before I come home again!"
She was kidding, of course, but she knew it was at least half-true. She'd get homesick easily, and she'd miss Lele and Zor. Speaking of which, she'd have to farewell him on the way out. With a grin, Tsuki nodded.
"Well, I'm off. I'll bring you home some stories, Mother," she laughed, tail flicking with amusement, "Some stories that will astonish even you! Take care of yourself, and I, too, will look out at to stars for news of you."
Nails clicked against rock, and paws scuffed through sand. Turning tail, the young adult was off - off to make her own mark in the world. Off to make her mother proud.
