Oh, it's all for companionship. I quite dislike showing due to the attitudes of many of the ubercompetitive riders and their 'equipment' (they cease to become actual horses), but I will occassionally show only for the personal enjoyment that comes from training a horse and forging a partnership with them.

Wow, I feel totally idiotic and shallow now but I don't really care. I LIVE for competition. It's my life and I might be getting back on the circuit this year so...YAY!!!

I'm really really competitive and I love being able to show how much I have accomplished!

I don't mean to crush your dreams or anything Cherry, but just because you have a new horse. does not mean that you run off and compete. You need to bond with your horse, you need to decide what his strengths and weaknesses are. You need to decide what to compete in. I mean, if he's 17 hands, he's going to look mighty outta place in a western ring.

I know Star but I'm talking about Next YEAR or the year before that, hey I'm getting there and me and him are already sharing a bond together but it's not enough, like ypu just said, I gotta find out more about him and he looks 16Hands but I need to measure him pretty soon.

I live for companionship. I prefer being out on the trails an just relaxing, no pressure. Just spending time and bonding with my horse.

However, I don't have anything against competing, I just don't like it when everyone gets over competaive. Its just not fun then. I plan to take Riley in maybe a couple walk, trot classes next year - just for fun and for him to get the experince.

We also might do some beginner team penning competions next year, or a couple years down the road when we're ready.

Companionship for me. I want to compete but it is more important to have a good bond with your horse.

Companionship for me all the way, I share a special bond with my horses, I love them, they love me back along with me gently wrapping my arms around their necks while hugging them.

You're right Brat and I wish I showed but when I do show, I'll be competitive but I'm not into winning though, I'm into having fun when showing.^^
