UPDATE!
Well, I got ahold of Riley's papers at last... Here is his pedigree that I put online.
Ready Or Not Riley
Riley will be 7 years old May 14th!!!! Soooo, I'm planning to celebrate his birthday lol. Today we had another ride...
I let him loose around the arena to let off some energy, and he ran for an hour and a half straight. WITHOUT WORKING UP A SWEAT OR GETTING WARM!!!!!!! He amazes me... and well, he should, he's got TB far back in his line... Three Bars, Percentage and back through those lines, JOE BLAIR, NORA M, CAMPBELL MARE - are just some of the TB's throughout his bloodline tracing really far back.
I think he looks a like Three Bars in a way...
Three Bars
Riley
I mean, maybe its just me, but thats what I think lol.
Anyway, once we got that out of his system. I saddled up and rode, he took the right rein, tried to take me all over the ring with at a canter. Haha... some sucess but not for long, I got him to trot again and made him do LOTS of serpentines and figure eights. So, constant change of direction and keeping him thinking on what I want him to do next.
After that, he was finally semi-warm and had worked up a tiny bit of a sweat in the girth area. Can you say one fit horse? Lol!
Well, I threw a cooler on him and put him in his stall. I came back 5 minutes later and he had pulled it off. He was no longer warm, and so I gave him his hay to eat.
He looks good in his rope halter that I found from my days of working peoples horses, and I shall soon get him a new Nylon one so I can trailer him. I plan to take him on the Lope for Hope this year.
When he's listening to me more, we need to go back in the feilds and work on hills a bit in order to do the Lope for Hope this year.
^.^ He's a good boy n' I love him. I braided his forelock and boy does he look cute!!!!!!!!! I was in the tack shop today with my boyfriend and I wanted to get him either a bright pink or light purple halter - but my boyfriend wouldn't allow it. -rolls eyes- guys sticking up for the guys... lol

April 9, 2007:
Today I got my OEF membership (Ontario Equestrain Federation Membership) and included up to $4,000 mortality insurance for Riley. I also filled out a transfer report to send to the AQHA and had the BO (barn owenr & His old owners) fill out the section needed.
Tomorrow when things are open I need to get a $50 money order from the bank and send it off. To get a copy back of Riley's papers with MY name on it.
I'm extrenly happy, I'm going ot be doing some programs with the OEF and be a certified rider and eventually when I'm 18, certified coach.

x_Devils_Child_x I might just be taking a lease on him - I pay part board etc. I don't think a price can be put to him. She had an offer of $25,000 once and turned it down.
I'm very happy with Riley, I lunged him today. He was an angel! <3 Except... for the last part xD I was takin him out, somethin scared him and he turned, kicked and ran. Those hooves just missed me... He was terrified though, it took him a few minutes to come to me since he would back up if I came near.
When I turned him loose in the pasture, he took off... I've never seen him so eager to get back to the herd lol. It took him maybe... a couple seconds? oh yeah, thats right... full gallop. I wish I had gotten a video but my camera died.
I go back out tomorrow, I made him a rope halter till I can buy a new nylon one. I have some videos to share of our session when I can upload them. I see and thats great!!^^ Anyway ouch! I'm so glad he missed on the hooves part and fawwww I'm so glad he did good and yay lunging!!!^^

April 14 2007 Update
Okay, so I still havn't gotten that money order yet lol... Monday for sure.
As for our ride? EXCELLENT! NEVER BETTER! WOoOoT! lol
We did a lot of serpentines, figure 8's, Half passes, back up, and different patters around little objets.
He was great, moved off my legs better then ever, he was forward and relaxed. We had a wounderful ride.
I also got him a new nylon halter! Its black, with gold running horses, padding along the nose band and the part behind the ears. It has an adjutable noseband, and ear part thinger...
Well, it really looks good on him, I'll have to get pictures.

I'll have to go out and get some pictures then ^.^
I'm still trying to figure out... when I went to lead him into the indoor arena, he took a step and then froze. Refused to move. So not like my boy... who fallows me everywhere!
So, I dropped the lead, unsaddled him - and then re-saddled him. Just to be on the safe side and to make sure everythin' was good there. I thought maybe something wasn't right and it was pinching? -shrug-
So since a girl in there free lunging had the door closed, I asked him to step forward enough for me to open it (Cross ties are just across from the door to the arena) and the same thing... that door is hard to open! and same thing, it took a lot of convincing to get him through.
Once he was, he was fine... o.O I just don't get it lol. Maybe the door wasn't open far enough... hmm... it wasn't the saddle because I had the girl check it for me, as a second opinion, and she said it was good.
Silly horses lol.

Well I have another update!
If you'd like to see the pictures, they have been posted in my scrapbook. I don't think picutes can be posted in here. There should soon also be a video (when I get around to making it hehe)
Update!
Today was so nice out, it was like +20 celcius - Beautiful!!!
So I got to the barn and walked into the barn, I could see all the doors were open - and I looked down the one aisle, and outside those doors is the outdoor arena. Who do I see looking over the fence of the outdoor ring? xD Riley! with his cute little ears pricked, he gave a little nicker as I walked up with his halter.
I let myself in through the gate, and Riley walked over and pushed his head into the halter. I went to lead him back out, and the other two (Eagle and Dakota) were blocking the gate! Dakota moved out of the way, walked up to Riley and took the slack of the leadrope in his mouth! and tried to walk off. LOL! he was trying to lead Riley around, it was cute but I made him let go. Then I had to make Eagle move, he was stubborn... but eventually moved.
I brought Riley in and started brushing him, he's almost fully shedded out now, so he looks really nice with his slick, clean coat. Well, I wanted to use the roundpen, so I got the BO's permission to move around some horses since the stallion was in the roundpen. I couldn't get a picture of him because he's a total spazz! he flipps out when there is a camera around and I didn't want to upset him.
Well, I sent Riley around, he was an energetic baby today. I had my saddle sitting to the side, and eventually tacked him up and rode him around the round pen a bit since the BO was bringing up the sand of the indoor arena - and there were horses in the outdoor since the pastures are muddy!
I eventually rode around back, and into the indoor arena, and worked Riley in some patterns, serpentines, figure 8's - he tried to get away from me - and he did once... but... that came to a stop and quick.
He was sweaty after, like so warm... mostly from the heat since we only rode for about a half hour with lots of breaks. I curried him, threw a cooler on him and walked him around outside... 15 minutes later, brought ihm back in, curried and brushed the dried sweat out - since he wasn't hot anymore I put him in his stall when I was done.
Dakota is becoming more attached to me, he nickered each time I walked by his stall, and Eagle had gone out on a trail ride so I didn't get to see much of him today.

Well, I got close enough to the stallion to grab one quick shot before he galloped off at the sight of the camera. I'll have to post it, I forget his breed (I'll have to ask the lady who owns him) but he's like 17hh maybe a little taller. He's a big boy!
I've learned a lot about each of the horses in order to keep myself safe around them.
Riley's going well, I'm trying to teach him to neck rein - although I'm not the best at it myself lol. I think its the english rider in me.
I also did a bit more reasearch on Riley's bloodlines, tracing back a lot of the horses into the 1600's! that's far... some of the breeds I've found are:
Quarter Horses (Obviously lol) TB's Arabian Anglo-Arab's Barb's Tennessee Walking Horse Saddlebred Morgan Sweedish Warmblood (Lisette, 1803 - traced from Three Bars)
Wow, going far back enough to how the QH originated. This is assuming information from http://www.allbreedpedigree.com is correct. I have one heck of a horse on my hands! xD I've got a well built, intelligent, loving horse with lots of potential.
He has potential for anything - the sky is the limit. A great respiratory an curculatory system, the heart to please, speed and coordinaion.
*NOTE* This post will be revised later - I just stored some information here that I cannot forget that is crucial to my reasearch on Riley's ancestors.

I see and ok thanks, I'd love to see his pictures and wow! he's a big boy!
I'm glad Riley is doing well along with the neck rein etc. Btw, dang! Thats a lot of breeds in his bloodlines and wow! he has lots of ancestors of different breeds and is Three Bars a QH or Warmblood?

I'll post pictures of him in my scrapbook.
Riley's learning quickly, we can neck rein at a walk, jog and good fast trot. One problem we're fixing is he leans on the bit after a while. I went out Thursday after school and we rode out in the roundpen, working on the lef rein a lot (He likes to take it and take off) so softening to the rein. We even got to canter in both directions he was so good.
Three Bars was a TB

Ok cool, I'd be happy to see in the Scrap book and I'm glad Riley's learning quickly on the neck rein along with a walk, jog and good fast trot. He learns on his bit after a while? how does he do that? anyway thats good to hear about you riding him out in the roundpen along with working on the left rein a lot. He likes to take and take it out? thats good along with the rein softening amd cantering in both directions. By the way, thats good to hear that he's good.
Three Bars is a Thoroughbred? awesome! what color is he? Chestnut or Black? biggrin
