well... it's like 90% of the world uses windows so it's usually advisable to have one computer running on windows and the other running on linux. or you can just have two OSs in your kickass computer. 3nodding
Just because everyone else is using it doesn't mean you have to as well.

which one? windows?

That is more of a bandwagon reply than anything else, and there are some people who only have one computer so for them your recommendation means nothing.

maybe it does since there are some windows file formats that linux can't recognize. that's why i'd love to have the best of both worlds.

I know M$ doesn't want people to know this but the world does not revolve around windows, if it is something important, like job or school related and does not work under WINE, or no Linux alternatives exists, then yes there is a problem. For people like me, Email, IM, Web browsing, Document editing, programming, all this can be done under Linux and happy with just such.

@vendion:
Why do you want to put Microsoft out of business? I understand not buying their products, if you don't want them don't buy them, but other people might want them.

Yes I hate Windows, yes I hate xbox, yest I hate the zune, but I hate Microsoft ever worse mostly because of the monopoly they have, although the game is fun I do not that anyone should be allowed to monopolize for any reason.

My hate for the xbox started back with the first one, way before the red rings of death

that's Microsoft's strategy. instead of hiring testers to test their products, we, consumers, are the testers. we are the test subjects. in order for them to develop the perfect operating system they gave us mediocre operating systems to complain about. they take note of the complaints and omit the issues in the final product. same goes for their consoles, the xboxes. we buy them, we fall victims to the ring of death and they get money to develop better products. it's all so creepy.
