.The Interview With Flame.

AvynWing
For what was most cirtainly not the first time inhis life Lawrence, or Lawr as was a more common name for him, wished he had a better sense of direction than he actually did. He could usually follow directions, but if he took one turn getting back onto the right path was always a disaster for him.

But this seemed like the right place, as he stepped inside it felt refreshing to be at his goal, and oh god he hoped he wasnt late.. or at least not so very late as for it to be a black mark against his name, he had thought he had left with plenty of time, but.. things often didnt turn out exactly the way he planned he smiled ruefully as his eyes flickered around the place.
It seemed an orderly place as far as things went, and.. yes, that would most likely be where he needed to go.
Carefully he fished around in his coat pocket. His fingers brushed past a picture as he did so, and he smiled slightly, his little nephew.. He loved that kid dearly, it had to be said, even if the kid was actually no real relation of his.

Jaimie, his best friend, who topped him in age by a good five years, and was a friend from work rather than anywhere else and his girlfriend of then about four years had had a child, Christopher, but sadly not long after their relationship had disolved into arguments and squabbles and they had broken up. Both now took care of the youngster individually, but for an almost equal amount of time, and Lawrence would always help out when he was staying with Jai. Thusly, as far as it went Lawr was pretty much an uncle, and was in fact the boy's godfather.

He and Jaimie had known eachother a long time, and as the boy was already seven, Lawrence was really no stranger to playing the role model, and even the father if Jaimie went through a tough patch. There was so much in the way of speculation about the nature of the two friends relationship, that even though there was nothing there it wasnt uncommon for Chris to be heared commenting that he had two daddies and a mummy.

Lawrence himself wasnt in any form of relationship at the moment, for the main part this was due to the amount of time he was still spending with Jai and Chris, but it didnt matter to him, he got things done, and he had a job, his own small flat and enough to get by on really, life was fairly good, but that didnt mean he haddnt been surprised by the card he had recieved.
After a moments thought he stepped slowly up to the recemption desk, a warm, if slightly appologetic smile on his lips as he did so, and greeted the woman he saw there, nodding silently to the other person who he just saw leaving, in a way pleased that he wasnt alone in finding himself here.
"I'm sorry if I'm late," he started,
"I'm Lawrence Rayne, I recieved this.." he lifted up the note..
"And I think I'm in the right place now.."

Flamefire123
Flame had just settled in to get a little work done when the door opened again. Repressing a sigh at lost time Flame reminded herself that this was exactly why she was here. Two interveiws in one day was rare but so was the ammount of crystals poping up lately. Flame smiled a little at her computer screne as she thought about all the little Ruesaians that would soon be running around. Then the neko shook herself from the day dream to glance up at the man.

Emerald eyes looked over him up and down before she nodded slightly. He didn't look like a bad choice, normal clothes, normal face. The mocha woman rose and offered one slim fingered hand to shake. Her full lips pulled back and parted in a smile that while friendly and professional also showed one and a half fangs. She had an acident as a child. The hand not offered straighened her glasses before she introdcued herself.

"Hello, I'm Flamefire Lennox, but you can call me Flame. I'm co-owner and general task master here at Ruesaiah inc. I will be interveiwing you today for the chance at getting a Ruesaian. Now I'm sure this was all very sudden for you" Flame smiled again, then sat down, her tail sneaking out of her way. Her hand waved over the chair left by Shira as the neko nodded to it once. "Please sit down."

AvynWing
Lawr smiled a little more and took her hand, giving it a small shake, and a gentle sqeeze.
"Its a pleasure to meet you Flame," he said quietly, his voice was still soft, and though he look a very little wary, and more than a little confused he seemed fairly relaxed over all, and you couldnt really call his tone anythign but friendly.
"You can call me Lawr if you wish, most people do.." He glanced at the chair, releacing her hand and shifting it very slightly back before settling himself down into it, his knee's tucked neatly together as he lifted a hand and ran his fairly thing, long fingers through his hair, smiling slightly still, it seemed to be his most natural expression.
"I will admit it was a bit of a shock for me, yes, I dont really know what I've been asked into, but I suppose curiosity and well, wanting to be of some help brought me here," He shifted slightly, and smoothed the front of his shirt down, the slightly faded black jeans he wore were clean, and he obviously took a fair amout of care of himself, and liked to present well.
The feline features took him a minute to take in, but he'd never been the most closed minded of people, so he figure, what with the collection of unusual things, the note for one, that now was really not a time to start blocking out possibilities.
"Ask anythign you need to," he said in the same friendly relaxed tone of voice,
"I'll answer honestly, I hope you wont find me lacking in anyway." he brughed his finger through the light blonde locks once more before lacing his fingers together in his lap, his teal green eyes resting on the woman before him in an easy gaze.

Flamefire123
If the cat features buged the man he proably didn't notice the pale but lumiencent almost see though blue wings perched on her back. Flame was an oddity indeed. Her cat fur, which was golden with a few strips, didn't match her ruby red hair. Her dark skin contrasted her bright green eyes and if the unnatural gentics weren't enough she had fairy wings on top of it. Then again Flame didn't notice this much anymore as she looked over the human male.

"Actually normally people ask me questions. Like what the hell Ruesaiah is" Flame laughed a little and settled back to tell Ruesiah's sad tale. She told Lawr of the great land and how they lived in peace. She told him of how they were invaded, and the spell that slowly entraped their souls in crystals where their souls still stood today, and she told him why he was here.

"We are trying to bring the Ruesaian civilization back. Slowly, with the help of my boss Sora Icefreeze, we are able to bring certain crystals to a slow but steady stage to rebirth. We of course can not take care of all the children so we are passing them to worthy gaurdians. Like you." Flame gave him a smile, then continued, "So my first question is the most serious. Do you think you can handle this task? You will be a parent, you must love and care for this child, teach him and cherish him. Can you be a good father for your son?"

AvynWing
Lawrence actually paused to think about that,
He was in the doctorate years of an english degree, but it was mostly reserach work now, reading, and in depth understanding of the course materials he had chosen, he was enjoying it, but it left time for other things, he worked in a small shop for example, he enjoyed that as well, and it gave him enough to work off, as as a doctorate student he was also paid a little for doing weekly seminars on his findings at the University he studied at.

He was very much used to children as well, and once again found himself fishing around in his pocket, and pulling out the slightly battered picture ofhis god child, Christopher. He looked happy, Lawr had taken the photo himself when he and Jai had taken the youngster down to the beach, and Chris was excitedly waving a small crab at the camera, he didnt seem to be a hard done by child, and lawrence loved looking after him with Jai when he could.

He had listened to the story, it had touched him as well.. he was a fairly accepting person as far as most things went, and though this entire situation, and the women telling the story to him were fairly unbelievable, he could actually bring himself to doubt any of it.
"I think I could do a good job." He stated simply looking up at her again,
"I've helped raise this little guy.." he held out the picture of Chris for flame to see,

"He's my god-son, and I'd do anything for him really.. but I'm cirtain that I'll be able to find the time to care for a child myself.." He smiled slightly..
"And Jai would be there if I needed it, though I'm sure even shuffling my hours around at work will be little in the way of a problem, as he works there as well.." He brushed his hair back fro him eyes and moved to put the picture back in his pocket.

Flamefire123
Flame lenaed over to look at the picture of the little boy and smiled. The boy was cute, and the fact that this man caired a well loved picture of the boy made Flame feel better about giving him a crystal. The neko pulled back and started to fill in the file. She'd get more information off the internet and other...skills she poessesed. Flame liked to be well informed on her gaurdians, knowing the stuff that they don't share with strangers.

"That's good that you have someone that you can trust to help you" Flame mentioned, her hands pausing for a second and then she shook her head. Now wasn't the time for memories like that. "I'm sure you'll come to reley on him. Now I just have a few more questions and we can be on our way. First, what is your greatest fear? To loose yourself, to be alone, to be forgotten, or to be found?"

Flame glanced over at him and looked at the information on the crystals already in the vault. She had a pretty good idea which one would belong to this man but she felt it would be better to ask the questions anyway. Flame was happy with these choices. The last gaurdians made her iffy, but these gaurdians Flame felt more comfortable with. They still have to prove themselves though. Their journy has just begun.

AvynWing
"Right off the bat," Lawr stated quietly,
"I'd almost definately say that being alone was as I really love companny, but if I'm completely honest with myself and if I actually put some thought to it I think the biggest fear of those four would be to be forgotten," He carefully put the picture back in his pocket.
"If Jai, or that little boy, or my family even looked at me with eyes that didnt recall who I was I think it would break my heart.." He smiled slightly,
his eyes flicking down to his knees for a moment, his mind filled with a sudden rush of images of his childhood, his teenage years, even the few years ofhis adult life he'd had, all were mostly happy.

He'd had a couple of ups and downs, a small row here or there with Jai, his parents having a quarrel, his sister Aylin going missing for two weeks, that had been the hardest to bare, but all had ironed themselves out, then there was Chris, his happiest memories were about the young boy that was much as son as a godson to him these days.

"If I lost myself, I've faith in the people I have around me to find me, I have no problem at all with being found.. and I dont think my friends would leave me alone if I didnt want.. so if I'm honest the only thing that could be a fear is that one day those close to me will forget me.. that would hurt." He smiled.

"So I guess I Just have to make sure I stay a constant and pleasent aspect in peoples live so they remember me well enough... Especially Chris, and anyone else I come to care for.." he looked up at her again then, and smiled the friendly smile again.

Flamefire123
Flame nodded and smiled in aproval of his answer. He was a family man, good. She found his answer really touching. He simply loved his family with all his heart. So why wouldn't he love a new child? Yes Flame felt this was a good choice for this little guy.

"Okay one more question and then you'll get your son. What is the meaning of life? Excited Exuberance, Unpredictable Opportunities or Unyielding resolve?" Flame glanced up at him, intrested in his answer.

These questions told her so much about the people that came though her door. After all from the first one she knew that Lawr loves and trust his family, and needs them as he makes his way though life. A perfect man to have as a gaurdian, in Flame's mind at least.

AvynWing
"That one really is hard.." Lawrence stated quietly, frowning slightly in through as he mulled the options over.

"All three in their own way would be very important to growing up as a well rounded person.. surprises.. chanced that you dont expect test you and make you grow, and also reward you somtimes.. so they're important.. but struggling through the times that the opportunities are tough.. difficult and unpleasent is important as well, a driving force behind life.. the resolve to continue.." he paused again, and smiled..

"But looking at everythign inthe best light, trying your best and putting energy into everything you do, living for the moment, loving life and feeling the joy and excitement that it can give you, even ina chalange will have to be the most important thing to me.. the meaning of life for me from that lite would have to be excited exuberance.." he nodded.
"That way you can feel joy in yout heart no matter what, and happyness is a gift that should be cherished above all others.."

He decided that was the best he was going to come up with, it was what he truely felt, what he believed and he'd fairly weighed up all the options before deciding.
"I hope that is acceptable.." he looked up at flame again his teal green eyes kind.

Flamefire123
Flame laughed, "Don't worry, what you said was perfectly fine." It was actually kind of beautiful. No one else she interveiwed thought outloud like this man did, letting her see their thought train. He was a kind sweet, sentive man. Maybe he should meet Victor, see if any of that can rub off on the arrogent b*****d she found herself in love with. Victor had his redeaming qualities too, after all she never forgot what he did for her the night she came home after Tamal was scratched. But he then he had to end it by being an a*****e. He always ended everything by being an a*****e.

The cat shook her had, and focused on the task at hand. Grabing the crystal information and placing it in the same file as his, she saved and sent the information to three different sorces and started to print it out. Flame was always prepared with at least three digital copies of every file she had plus one hard copy. She didn't want to loose any information unless a bomb exploed in this building AND her house. As she kept all information on a flash drive which she took home every night. The neko believed in being prepared.

"Well that's it's for questioning." Flame mentioned as she rose, "Let me just get your crystal." Flame gave him a smile and walked across the lobby and turned to walk mostly out of sight, if he tried hard he could still see her tail twitching. She put in the proper code to have the safe open. When it did she smiled and drew out the crystal.

"You're getting a good home." she asured him, and walked back to Lawr. "Here he is. Your happy light." She placed the dull milky crystal into his hand. "One of the first two Ruesaians revived was a happy light, only it was a girl be prepared to...have a hyper little boy." Flame warned and sat back down. "Okay one final question before you go Lawr. What do you want to name him?"

AvynWing
Lawr watched the woman walk away with a small smile, he was pelased he'd managed to answer things to satisfaction, the stroy she had told him had made he really want to hep the little soul within the crystal.
Happyness and light, it sounded lovely, but he took the warning seriously, hyperacyive.. well, Jaimie was as bad as most children, so he was sure he would be able to handle it.
"Thank you.." he said, holding out a hand and then bringing the crystal close to his face to have a look at it, it was very pretty in its own way, and he smiled.
"I'm sure I'll be able to deal with it.. hyperactivity at least leads to fun most of the time.." He ran a finger carefully over the stone, deciding for the moment to keep it in his hand. He'd watched her fethcing the stone, she was definately unusal in his books.. the tail as much as anything else.. but at the same time she seemed so nice, so the oddities about her person seemed to matter less to him if he was honest than they would have done had she been less accomodating.
"I think.." He paused for a moment.
"I'll call him Seraphin, almost like the angel, but slightly different.." he smiled slightly, the name appealed to him greatly for some reason, and once it had popped into his head he'd been unable to resist it.
"Its unusual as well, and I like that.. so.. I think that will do nicely.." he looked down at the small stone agian,
"Do you need anything else Miss flame..?" he didnt want to occupy any more of her time than he had to as she was obviously a busy woman.

Flamefire123
"Just Flame." The neko fairy gave the man a smile. She didn't need such manners like that. Actually she would prefer if they just called each other by their first name. Flame wanted the close comfort of the first name baises. Owners would not get close to Sora, people didn't get close to that woman, so Flame felt it was her duty to be the one the owners could talk to, if they needed to.

"Seraphin, that's a beautiful name." she complimented and typed it into the file. She looked over all the information she had and smiled. Flame was so overjoyed with the new owners, she had good feelings about them.

"No, that will be all, thank you Lawr. And if you have any questions..." she stoped and pulled out a card, handing it to him, "I have my work and home number on there." she informed him, "Please only use the home one if you have an emergency but feel free to call the work one any time during reasonable bussiness hours." she grined, "I'm here to help you."

AvynWing
Lawrence smile brightly and got to his feet, accepting the card.
"Thank you very much." He said happily,
"It was a pleasure to meet you!" He nodded again and turned, walking away and out of the building again to attempt to find his way home, it should be okay! He'd gotten here after all.
What a crazy day thought...
He'd gone there thinking that this might all have been some kind fo strange joke..
Met a feline featured woman with wings.. and been given a crystal to nurture...
It was definately quite the day, but some how... he had a feeling things were only going to get more crazy from here on in.

1060 words - Crystal Causes Chaos.

The journey home from the building where he had received the crystal had been almost a dream to Lawrence, he was trying to work everything out in his head as he went… it was almost a muddle, things slotting into place, the girls wings and her tail and ears, the crystal itself, that now felt… well… it felt alive to him as he held it in his hand, his hand tucked in his pocket. He was almost afraid to release it.
The little stone seemed comforting to hold in some way, and despite the almost totally ridiculous things he had been told he found himself believing that the stone he had in his hand really was the soul of what would sometime soon be the child that he was to take care of…
It was a very strange situation in truth.

The day however went fairly normally for him, Jaimie was mooching around in his living-room when he walked in, and he couldn’t stop the grin that instantly spread over his face as he saw his friend.

“Good meeting?” Jai asked him, kicking back a little, his feet slung up on the coffee table.
“Yeah…” Lawr stated…
“I… Uh. I’m gonna be uh… adopting a kid…” he glanced sideways at Jaimie and saw the shocked look on his face.
“What seriously?” the other young man asked him, and Lawrence simply nodded.
“What about Chris..?”
“He’ll have a little brother wont he…?” Jaimie looked like he was about to reply, but Lawr simply leant down and gave him a hug.
“Don’t you worry you dumb a**, I wouldn’t ever dream of kicking you and Chris out of my life, you both mean too much to me for me to even think about that… you should know me better by now…” Jai had been happy with that it seemed, and the rest of the day had been pretty well non eventful.
The next two days went a little less smoothly though, Lawrence had found a soft velvet lined pouch that worked for him to keep Seraphin in for now, and a large, really soft downy cushion that he had bought on day two to set it on at night.

Jaimie had been talking to his ex and with all of Chris’s old baby things the two men had begun converting Lawrence’s spare room into a room that was suitable for a baby. They removed the sharp corners; they covered the plug sockets, and things had seemed to be going very well.
Lawrence was hoping to avoid having to explain the little crystal stone to his friend, but things started happening…

As they worked on the room, an intense aura of extreme happiness seemed to rest all around them, and one or other of them would just start smiling, laughing even sometimes for seemingly no reason at all, and then when they left the room, and the presences, Lawrence knew, of the little crystal, their moods would suddenly drop again, it was emotional rollercoaster and a half! It did however give them the most shocking sensation of having bi-polar disorder; it was not a pleasant sensation either…

This lasted the full two days they were working on the main grunt work of the room transformation, the elevation of mood even affected Chris when he helped them, and his mother, in a shouted conversation with Jaimie that evening had informed him that his son had spent a good deal of time in floods of tears after he had been dropped off by Lawr and Jai earlier that evening…

Lawrence instantly regretted taking the little stone with him, but he just couldn’t bring himself to leave it back at home…
They wouldn’t be seeing Chris for a few days it seemed but his mood would stabilize, Lawr was sure of that…
He knew the little soul didn’t mean to do this to them…

Day three passed uneventfully, Jai was absent for most of it, only popping in for a beer in the evening, and so Lawr was left to bask in the bizarre elevated mood that being around his stony ward seemed to give him, and in fact anyone else who was in his company.
Day four passed even less eventfully, and Lawr was lead to believe for a time that he was actually becoming accustomed the feelings of the stone, that things were going to normalise again…

That was until the morning of the fifth day however, when… after the previous day spent shopping for things like stuffies and pillows, toys diapers and the like Jai came over to help Lawr set up… and found quiet a shock.
The toys were moving… of their own accord around the house… up and down the stairs, in and out of various rooms… it gave him quite the turn, the same shock it had given Lawrence when he had woken up to it an hour or so earlier…

It was madness… absolute madness.

It took them hours to clear everything ones the toys parade finally abated.
The same thing however happened the next day, but the final straw was when, while in Lawr’s pocket at work, the stone struck again, and the merchandize in the art shop began performing little jigs on there own…
This just couldn’t happen!
Not in front of the general public!
Lawr knew he had to do something… and all he could think of was taking the little stone back to the place where he had been given it… not to return it, no way… he was already far to attached to it, and slept each night with it set on a soft pillow on the small table by his bed…
But there had to be something they could do! There just had to be! He’d go the next day, he promised himself as he sat back and watched his sofa cushions flopping around the living room floor, tumbling over each other, and smiled slightly, even if he wanted to be mad at the mess the little stone was making of his house, and the fright it had given his best friend, and the fact he could possibly have lost his job for the mess the playful little soul made of the shop… he simply couldn’t be.
It was just such a happy little soul that the mood easily affected him as well.

Need for Sleep~

With a sigh the tall blonde man pushed the covered off of his face again. His little crystal seemed to be finding a bizarre sense of entertainment in either yanking the covers right off of him, or in turn pulling them right up over his face. Either way it was disrupting his sleeping.
This had been going on for a few days, things were moving.. dancing around then invariably breaking when Seraphin grew bored with them, but didn’t realise, for example… that putting a mug down on this air wouldn’t have the same effect as putting it down on a side table… so when the mug hit the tiled kitchen floor from a good four feet, it shattered rather than settling down neatly as it had been before.
He sighed. His socks were all over the room again, and a par of his trousers had some how attached themselves to the ceiling fan. The room, once again, looked a delightful mess, and he suspected that many of the other rooms in the house, especially the bathroom with its wide range of colourful products, would also be in a similar state of disarray.
He was really going to have to do something. He wasn’t getting enough sleep any more, he was turning up at work exhausted and usually late from the fact he had to try and put the house back together each morning, and it was beginning to cause problems. He didn’t need to have trouble with work, he really didn’t. Christopher made less mess than this… except for the times when Lawr had let him look after his little crystal. When he had Serephin in his hands Chris just seemed to become a mess making machine! He loved his little crystal, he really did but he needed to do something.
Reaching out a hand, he curled his fingers around the warm stone.
“You’re a little monkey… you know that.” He said to it, unable to resist the smile as the wash of pure happiness flowed over him.
“I think you just find it funny watching me run around like my hair’s on fire, don’t you…” He ran his fingers over the smooth, faceted surface of the pretty white stone.
“You don’t have to show off for me though Sera…” He said quietly, setting the stone down on his chest as he leant back,
“You’ll always have a home here,” he would in fact prefer if the little soul he as caring for would stop showing off, he had liked it when Seraphin was quiet… he didn’t feel any less affection for his stony ward though, he just hoped something could be done.
“I don’t think we’ll go down today after all…” he stated, his eyes flicking to the dressing table where the card he had been given was stuck to the mirror.
“I think I’ll see if I can get in touch with that kind woman from the front desk again… she seemed very adept at her job, maybe she can tell me how to calm you down, huh, what do you think little one…” A couple of seconds later Lawr felt something land on his head, and sure enough the trousers had left the ceiling fan and were now hanging from him…
“I’ll take that as a ‘good idea daddy…’” he said with a fond smiled.
“Now… I’m going to try and sleep a little more love, please let me…” He asked quietly, letting his eyes slip closed again. The room was quiet for a while, he didn’t think it would last long, but he could hope…
