"a little bit, yes." he said as he walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. he gave her a big hug then let her go and leaned against the kitchen table. "so, you approve of Jazz's band? it'll mean our house'll be full of humans all the time." he shook his head. "my father would kill me. associating with humans all the time. even letting them in my house." he fell silent.

"Hey Riley. the guys and i want to start a band but we don't have a female vocalist. and i know you can sing." he smiled " so i wondered a bit if you wanted to be the female vocalist. or if maybe you played some other instrument. we've already decided i'll be the lead male singer, since i'm the only on of the guys with a half-way decent voice." he paused to write down an answer in the notebook then looked back up at her. "what d'ya think? we'll be practicing quite often and it'll mean you'll have to actually stick around."

"yes. remending bonds. ya that's gonna work." he sighed. he stood up and got plates out of the cupboard. "they're really not that but they smell weird. and it lingers long after they're gone. it makes me sneeze. besides some of his friends don't know proper respect for an elder." he shook his head, his long hair swinging. "either way. it's decided now. we're going to have a house full of human pups." he growled irritatedly as he put down the plates and cups and got them something to drink.

"just wait till you meet the guys. you'll like them. they're a tad crazy. but i think that's why you'll like them. " he bent his head back over his book. "i've gotta get this done soon so i can go call them." he muttured as he wrote furiously in the notebook.

"I don't do everything dad tells me!" he exclaimed to her retreating back. "i just do most things because he'd kill me if i didn't!" he stuck his tongue out at her back and went back to his homework.

Kean laughed. "the carribean? i think i'd prefer Ireland. somewhere with trees. and land!" he started in on his spaghetti, eating like a starving man. " i've got a bit more work to do tonight love. it shouldn't take me to long. then we can...well." he smiled invitingly at her. "our pack is awefully small. i think we should arrange to make it bigger. what do you think?"

Kean's breath caught, his eyes got wide and his mouth sagged open. he stared at her in shock for a moment before giving a wild yell and jumping out of his chair, picking her up and swinging her around. then very gently setting her back on her feet. "you're... you're... really? truly? are you sure?" he gave her a big hug. he pulled out her chair and made her sit down. "now you take care of yourself you hear? anything you need. anything at all ask and you'll get it." he laughed happily. "i can't believe it!" he quickly served her food for her. got her a drink, then pulled his chair around to sit close beside her. holding one of her hands in his he smiled broadly and watched her eat. he nuzzled her neck every few moments. grinning and humming quietly to himself.

Jazz looked up at the noise coming from the kitchen. it sounded like his dad was laughing. that's good. mom's the only one who can ever get him out of the black moods that i seem to excel in bringing about. he wrote down the last answer in the notebook then shut the books, put them in his backpack and stood up. he debated whether or not he wanted to go into the kitchen or not, then decided against it. he swung his backpack onto his back and climbed the trellis that led up to the second floor balcony. walking along the balcony he opened the door to his room and dumped his stuff near his desk. he threw himself onto his bed, put his hands under his head and stared up at the ceiling for a minute. it was gonna happen. they were actually going to have a band! they aren't going to believe me. he grinned broadly then rolled over and picked up the phone to dial the guy's dorm room.


(( it was total accident. lol do lugaru have babies like humans? you konw one or two at a time or like wolves: four or five at a time????? lol))

"hey....yes... yes... i said YES! He actually said yes.... i know... you're shocked? hell, he's my father and I"M shocked..... yea come over tomorrow after class and we'll get the garage cleaned out.... no worries guys we have a kitchen from hell and i'm pretty sure mom'll feed us. she likes doing things like that.....ya totally! ya.... see you tomorrow. hey! don't forget about the Bio homework. i'm not letting you copy off me again....ya right. see ya." Jazz hung up the phone. the guys were pretty hyped. he jumped off his bed, spun around three times, then sat back down. the phone rang again. "I'll get it!" he shouted as he picked up the phone. "hello? oh sorry!" it felt strange to be giving them his address. he'd only had a few friends over his entire life. he hung up the phone and decided to go down and eat something more dinner-appropriate then a twinkie. he thundered down the stairs, swung through the livingroom and into the kitchen, right to the fridge. as he opened it he asked " hey, are we actually having something for dinner tonight or is it just feed yourself?" he glanced over his shoulder, saw the spaghetti and said "i'm guessing feed yourself." he pulled out some leftover meatloaf and sat down at the table with a fork asking "is this even still good?" as he took a bite.


Kean laughed at his son. "i hope so for your sake." then nuzzled Lily again.

Jazz's eyes wandered between his parents. "Dad? you ok? you're acting....high or something."

"if i'm high then i can see why humans like it so much." he murmured into Lily's hair. then tore his gaze away from her to really look at his son. "so. when should i expect my house to be flooded with humans?" he asked jokingly.

"you know dad. you should really start calling them boys or kids or guys or something less stand-out-ish then 'humans'. anyway, we were thinking about cleaning out the garage tomorrow after classes and the guys were wondering if they shoud feed themselves. i was kinda hoping we could all eat out or something. you know, maybe order a pizza?" he looked hopefully at his mom, knowing full well that she was the one in charge of the food in this house.

"really, start calling them guys or something. or it'll become a habit to call them Humans and you'll slip while they're over." he sighed. "i guess that'll work if you guys want to go out. i was kinda hoping for like a .... hot dogs and hamburgers cookout kinda thing so that everyone can get to know each other. " he finished up the meatloaf and threw the bowl and fork in the sink. "i must admit though. i have no idea if they'll do damage to the house or not." he aimed this last remark at his dad, trying to jar him out of his reverie. dad's acting really weird. i wonder what's up?

Kean jumped as if something had bitten him. " damage? house? what??"

"see! i knew you weren't paying attention." Jazz leaned back against the counter. " i wanna have the guys over so we can clean the garage tomorrow. i was thinking hot dogs and hamburgers cookout but mom was thinking something else. what do you think?"

Kean blinked owlishly at him. then turned to Lily. "it's up to you dear. you let him have a band."



Shadow hunched over his beer in the corner of the smoke filled dingy bar. I hate drunks. he thought as a man stumbled by on his way out the door. Shadow scanned the room again. He was only passing through this town, but this seemed like the most likely place to find out if one of those wolf creatures lived around here or not. he flagged the barkeep to bring another beer. then settled back in his chair. tipping it back on two legs. his long black trenchcoat hid the muscled and scarred frame of his body. it also hid two pistols and a long knife. he smiled a dangerous smile that didn't reach his eyes. a man who happened to be looking in his direction shivered and decided to sit somewhere else to enjoy his beer. Shadow took a deep breath of the disgusting air. scanning the crowd again. movement at the door drew his attention to the two people walking in. he scanned the girl first. didn't seem like much of a threat. with a glance at the guy he changed his opinion a little. it was obvious who wore the pants in the relationship and it wasn't the man with the package to hide. he sipped the godaweful beer as he watched the couple.

Jazz gave a small jump and pumped his arm in the classic move of victory"yes! thanks mom! you're the greatest! i promise they won't be to bad! it'll be awesome just you wait and see!" he walked up behind her and gave her a big hug, squeezing her tight.

Kean jumped from his chair to seperate his mate and his pup with a swung fist and a growl. he put his arms around Lily possessively. still growling at Jazz.

shocked, Jazz blinked his pain changed eyes at his mom and dad. "what? what'd i do? Geeze! what the hell'd i do? she's my mom too you know. i like to think i can hug her when i want!" Jazz picked himself up off the ground rubbing at the spot on his head where Kean had hit him.

Kean's arms tightened around Lily and his growl grew louder. he stared at Jazz as his hackles raised in anger.

finally noticing how angry his dad was, Jazz froze for an instance before offering Lugaru obesience(sp?) he bowed low, offering his neck in subservience. geez...


Shadow watched the woman get the beers. as she walked over to the pool table he brought all the legs of the chair back to the floor. he stood up, watching her. a challenge! he thought with relish as he walked over to there group. in his dark and gruff voice he said " might i have the honor of facing the lady over a game of pool?"
