Well when the heartless take a heart they capture it and lock it away in darkness. The nobodies wanted the hearts because Kingdom Hearts is the source of all hearts and the world hearts. They wanted to have there own world to rule and possibly find there heart they lost. That's why Saix said "Kindgom Hearts, where is my heart" or something close to that.

And COINCIDENTALLY, Kairi, the least popular character in Kingdom Hearts, just so happens to be Sora's love interest.
Hmmmm. Isn't that such a COINCIDENTAL COINCIDENCE?
*cough*
Not that I'm trying to make a point or anything. Really.

l e x u s Ne.. I've chewed on that thought a lot too. Squeenix isn't very clear on the whole heartles/nobody stuff. So this i what I figured. Heartless, even though their name specifies they have no heart, they do. It's one enveloped in darkness. I think they're called Heartless for their ever unclinched need to go after the innocent and steal the light in their hearts. Everyone has darkness in their heart. The heartless go after that, and take what light there is in and destroy it, letting the darkness in their hearts consume them wholy. In turn, the victim become a heartless as well. The Heartless' form itself is the darkness of their heart in physical form. (hense some are able to become shadows and such) Nobodies are formed when someone who is converted into a heartless has a strong will and doesn't want to become a heartless. Their empty shell, or the person real body, with no connection to the darkness, gains it's own consciousness and can act on it's own. Heartless basically go on the instint of taking the light from people's hearts and have no real thought process, hense making them easier to control. Some special cases, such as Kairi, where she is said to be so pure and full of light that there's no darkness in her heart. Hense why she didn't turn into a heartless and merrily produced a Nobody. Though of course, Squeenix still has loop holes in it all, and such so it's very confusing. =D I think that's all... yes o_o; Er... nice. Anou...it still doesn't explain how the whole name thing works out. It could just be a lost in transtation thing. For example, maybe SquareEnix was trying to find a word that had a negatory meaning (negative/bad body, negative/bad heart) and instead came up with 'no', which IS negatory. Or vise versa when translating it into English. Perhaps a Japanese word was used that had a negatory meaning and the English translators translated it into 'no' even though that's not what it technically meant.

Really. *busts out llaughing like the wicked being i am* Your SO blind!! rofl Riku is also Soras love interest. And sora is DEFINITELY Rikus love interest. no doubt about it. Actually im not sure Sora even understands what love is. and if he was actually in love with such a useless being as HER, then he would have gone back to the island with her, making sure shed be safe and things would work out. and Sora pretty much shows more interest in Riku considering the fact that he showed more emotion and excitement over him. HELL, he CRIED over him.
