While it can't hurt to have a restraining order of course (which you mentioned there's a mutual one), really they're not that effective. Protective orders are MUCH more powerful, unfortunately I think you mentioned it had expired.
Keep on with talking with your lawyer and keep on with the documentation. I hope things get better soon for you.
