they couldnt make it like the book because then it wouldn't have been a "New Musical" so they had to change it to make it popular so it would do good and people would o see it

kandyluveer Another one and the tinman is Boq who hurt Nessa so elphaba punished him so now he dosnt have a heart... actually, Elphaba didn't punish Boq for hurting Nessa. Nessa put a bad spell on Boq and his heart shrank until it was gone, so Elphaba turned him into the tinman so that he wouldn't die.

They changed it to something they thought would make more money. That's their job. To create something that brings in as much profit as possible.

look to the Western sky... Course, there's also the fact that if they were basing it off of the book, then they would have to change a lot of it anyway, just so that kids could get in to see it... redface lol
Plus, they had to make it happier. If you think about it, the book really has a dark feeling to it. Ya know? You can feel through the whole book that something is wrong. As someone told me lately,
everyone deserves a chance to fly

Ya, and it just would be too long of a Musical if they did the whole book, obivously there are some parts of the book they cant do, in any fashion or form but also, sometimes it just kinda goes on and it would get kind boring after a while, because you couldnt make songs for some of those scenes...
