I am a huge fan of horseracing. These things just happen. They cannot be helped, and it was nobody's fault. I will miss Barbaro, I loved him and I was rooting for him all the way.

With Barbaro it's nobody's fault, but a lot of other euthanizations could have been prevented.
I hate the horseracing inndustry.

Nobody that owns a big name horse would want them to get injured, and they try their best to keep these things from happening.
Horses like Barbaro are very well taken care of.

But for a lot of the racehorses that don't make money, it is often preventable.
I'm at Philadelphia Park all the time. My friend works there. It's a horrible place. On one of my first visits, three horses broke down.
A lot of the times it's the owners fault because they just don't know or care about the horse and want money. Owners that actually care about their horses are rare, especially with unsuccessful ones. I'm sure some trainers mislead owners, too.
The trainer my friend works with has a horse (we call her Keenan, I don't know her actual race name) with a shattered knee. Her owner doesn't understand why she can't be raced still, and refuses to sell her.
Neglect and ignorance kill these Thoroughbreds. So many deaths could have been prevented. It's very sad.

I know about Barbaro's history, it's not his owner's fault and serious?! poor horses and that owner of Keenan should of treated her knee instead of refusing to sell her, she should go to a new home too, poor horses and is Keenan still alive?
Anyway I hate greedy owners of racehorses, they make me sick to my guts. crying

She's still alive. They're refusing to care for her, put her down or sell her. My friend's mom loves her, and would buy her at the drop of a hat, so if they ever change her mind she'll be there for Keenan. 3nodding Even if it means lots of vet bills. xd

The don't want to care for her because it costs money. They don't want to sell her because they're hoping they can still use her to make money. So nobody else is able to buy her at the moment.
A month or two for now, they may figure out that it's not worth it to keep her. They can't race her anymore and she's just costing them. They'll let her go eventually. 3nodding
