Nyumbani chuckled at Hahi as she darted behind mother, coughing lightly as some dust got into her lungs. Yet as soon as her mother scolded she flattened her ears and tail and slunk behind to join Ohahira in the watching. More than anything she hated to dissapoint mother, which she had apparently done.

"Do all adults act this strange when they meet each other?" she asked her sister, watching the events as they came to unfold. Nyumbani, however, had gotten a name. Banji. And he was the brother of mother. It was like a sister, except of the male race.

"Why do you suppose we don't have brothers?" she questioned her sister again, not necessarily looking for an answer, but an excuse to feel important as the elders seemed to be occupied.

"Mother, see how he looks like Tara!" she tried to help. Surely they needed something to talk about and mother was (regretfully) always talking about Tara in some way or another.

One would expect Ohahira to ramble on and on. She did so without prodding, but here Nyumbani was asking her questions. 'Because mother wished so dearly for a son, and fate is a terrible lion that has bad wishes for our family!' Something like that is what she would say. What she would say. She actually said nothing, and in fact had an unusually intense look on her face, eyes centered solely on Banji.

"Who's Tara?" the present male prodded. It was the second time he'd heard the name mentioned. "One of your daughters?"

"Yes. She looks like you." Turning toward Nyumbani and Ohahira, she calmly said, "Nyumbani, take your sister and head back. Me and Banji have some things to talk about and then we'll both head back, too."

Nyumbani looked at her sister and back again. She was supposed to be the quiet one. The all overpowering force that everyone listened to. But no one was listening, they were all at a loss for words. What was wrong with Hahi? Did she not like Banji? Granted, he was a pushover, but Nyu didn't think it was that obvious.

It was weird to see mother like this as well, but all worry was quickly forgotten when she received an order. Mother had told her to take her sister and go out towards the unkown. Or at least, what was their new home, which was rather strange to her jungle focused ways.

She nodded and shoved Hahi lightly in the ribs with her head, before leading the way back towards 'home', glancing back to look at brother and sister several times in curiosity. It was all so weird.

It never seemed like Ohahira was impatient simply because there was never really anything she had to wait for. If she needed food, some minor sweet talk and father was dropping it at her feet. Little was in short supply. The truth was, she was impatient, but you would never know it with how calmly she waited for just the right moment.

She waited until they were just out of both their parents sight. Far enough so that Hasana couldn't see them any longer, but not quite close enough to home that Triv could spot them either. That was when she pounced, and not playfully, on her sister, teeth bared and voice vicious.

"What posessed you to be so STUPID, Nyumbani?! Do you even realize what you just did to us? ALL of us?!"

Never in her whole life had Nyumbani been attacked with brute force by another sister. Had it been any other lion she would have immediately retaliated, teeth bared, lunging for their necks with vengence and bloodlust.

This was different. It was her own sister, and Nyumbani couldn't raise a paw against her own blood, no matter the situation. It was her duty to protect, not hurt, so all she could do was cringe beneath Ohahira's hot breath and steel eyes. She closed her own for a moment, maybe wishing it would go away because she simply didn't know what to do. She had never felt this defenseless.

"Ohahira stop! Please! You're hurting me!" she choked as she felt the paw press down firmer on her chest. "I don't even know what you're talking about! Let me up! Please!" She was begging now, not knowing this sister that suddenly revolted against her. What had she done wrong?

"Stop wailing and think about it for a second, you idiot," the younger sister growled. The weight on her sibling lightened, shifting mostly to the ground, but she didn't completely release her from under her grasp. There were still things to be said, since Nyumbani wasn't near as bright as she'd been giving her credit for.

"You know why she gives all the attention to Tara? Because she's a relfection of Banji, she's just clay that's been molded to be him! If Mother ignores us as much as she does with her copy, imagine what she's going to do now that you've drug the real thing here!" Ohahira didn't even want to think about it. She might even just flat out leave!

Banji, Tara, Tara, Banji, Banji. It was all she talked about!

Huffing, Ohahira stepped off her sister and continued toward the rest of their family.

Oh, Nyumbani thought, her hostile thoughts returning now that her sister didn't have her pinned. Is that all this was about?

Naturally, Ohahira was a jealous type. Hence all the drama she left about in every which place. It made perfect sense. Besides, Tara was bound to screw up someday, and Banji couldn't be perfect, perhaps with them there mother would see that? It made sense to Nyu.

It wasn't like she'd chosen for him to show besides.

"You're just jealous," she muttered, and trailed along behind her sister pondering things. She'd have to watch Hahi more carefully from now on. If she thought mother wasn't paying attention who knew what stunts the sister would carry one. At least she'd outgrown her 'Sister 1' habit.

"You're just stupid," Ohahira countered. It was true she was jealous, but she meant every word she said as much as any one could mean it. Mother was going to leave them now! She had her brother back, she didn't need Tara, who didn't like being Banji anyway. What a mess...

With each step, the black-spoltched cub became more and more like she was meant to be, carrying her head and ears high, a bright smile on her face as if there was no wrong in the world.

Forget the world. There was enough wrong right here.

She had a lot of things that needed to be discussed with Tara...
