Me personally, I have always loved Dnd mainly cause it is a very open creative outlet. I just love making characters and going around, smiting evil. I've played 2nd edition, and currently play 3.5. But yeah, just getting together with family and friends, making a character, and watching as events unfold just has that pull that keeps me coming back ^_^

i love D&D because i get together with my friends and we raise hell in my adventure i made. I make adventures and i DM them provided my lil brother isnt playing cuz he challenges everything i say. i just love how its like a game that you shape to your own way and when you make an adventure its worth it to watch all the others enjoy in something you created

I love the getting together with friends and making something interesting from a few die and some notes. I love bringing a character to life and flushing it out and finding out what it's going to do. I really like being creative with solutions and action and watching a story come to life, almost as you live it.
By the way, I love DM'ing. It's fun to give a group challenges and watching them live up to them. I love creating a story that can become something special and epic. It's fun to pit your mind against the players to see how much they can find in their chars to pull stuff off.

If you want to start a campaign here, please do. The guild leader typically promotes people who do, and there are still plenty of guild members who aren't involved in a campaign/wouldn't mind joining a new one.

I like the concept of DMing (but i suck at it). I mostly like the idea of people getting together to play a game full of laughs (along with the chips and snacks an what not.

I love character development. I also love playing games where its not just about a big dungeon crawl. Go here, fight this, go over here fight this, repeat until end of the quest.
A friend of mine running a very weird campaign. It's taxed us all. He made it so that the world itself has no true kingdoms. It's all made of Barons and Dukes. If a person slays a Baron, they become the new Baron. Well, we killed a Baron and took over his country. Now were have turned the game into a very political one. Taxes, how high? What should we give back to the community? Amassing a fighting force and going to war with other Barons. War Tactics. and eventually killing all other Barons that are of the 'Evil' nature and promote justice and goodness throughout the land. It's actually quite fun and very difficult. Cause if we were in a normal D&D campaign, we would go over there ourselves and slay the bastards where they slept. But day to day mundane events hold us from personally going over there. So we have to make up clever methods to get out of our own castle without being spotted into another kingdom kill a Baron and be recognized as such, appoint someone we trust as our representative and get back to our original castle in as short amount of time as possible. Now things go smoothly ith a party of 5. Cause each person can individually take on 1 Baron. But lets say that 20 Barons need to be overthrown....Now we are running into problems.
It makes things interesting when you think outside the common practices.
I myself am working on a campaign, but its turning into a Zelda like game. Each player enters a dungeon respectively and acquires a item and a special gift. They each go through 2-3 dungeons and finally meet up in a 4th dungeon where they will each need to use each of there items to help the rest get through the dungeon, to the final boss and complete the quest. Very Zelda like in its nature.

I like developing characters and stories also. I like playing D&D, but most of the people I play with (my inlaws) have a hard time playing in character. My father in law DMs, and while he is very proficient at the technical stuff required to run a campaign, he does not do well at breathing life into the campaign. For these two reasons I have really started to lose a lot of interest in playing lately. I like DMing, but think that I am the reverse of my father in law - I am good at bringing realism to a campaign world, but sorely lacking in the technical skills and knowledge to run a campaign smoothly.
