the musical. it has so much more to it, and it's funnier. the movie had a better "La Vie Boheme" though.

The musical by far, hands down. I saw that way before i saw the movie so i just prefer it more.

the curious miss rooo the musical. it has so much more to it, and it's funnier. the movie had a better "La Vie Boheme" though.
But the stage version you see so much more. Such as Maureen's controling personality and how Joanne does anything for her, along with a little taste of the past Mimi/Benny relationship.

All of you say the musical. Why isn't the movie appealing to you? I personnaly can't decide. The movie is so appealing to the sences, and the musical is the best theater performance ever. So, I can't even compare... 4laugh

RENT_is_CUUTTTEEEE All of you say the musical. Why isn't the movie appealing to you? I personnaly can't decide. The movie is so appealing to the sences, and the musical is the best theater performance ever. So, I can't even compare... 4laugh
The movie is fantastic if you aren't a fan of the musical. I still watch the movie from time to time when I have the fantastic urge to see the show, which I am seeing in May. But that's besides the point. Another reason why people like the musical is because although they can portray the characters more in the movie, they kind of didn't.
Mimi's an S&M dancer, so she likes to be pushed around by strong guys. She thinks Roger is that guy. She's also a cheater, because she goes and she cheats on Roger with Benny, which isn't as clear in the movie as it should have been.
Maureen's character was also shadowed in the movie, we didn't really get to see how demanding she is. Or really how much Mark still liked her.
We also didn't get a lot of Joanne in the movie. We didn't get her parents urging her to be woman-like. We also didn't get a lot of the Maureen/Joanne relationship as we could have. (ie: We're Okay)

I think the movie bugged me too at the end where they left out a HUGE part of Goodbye Love and the end of the movie made little sense. Roger's in NYC, no wait! He's in Sante Fe now! Wait! Now he's on the roof singing with Mark!

Oh, the ending made sense to me. Roger drove off after Goodbye Love (which I hate that it was cut) and then he was singing in Santa Fe, then he took a bus to NY.
You're mom's co-worker and daughter are in for a big suprise.XD

Well, if you pay attention to her emotions during the ceremony, you can tell. Also, watch the movie's commentary thay maike it obvious. I guess It's herder to tell if you don't watch the movie daily.

Maureen's emotions during the ceremony show her overwhelmed, but who wouldn't be. Her character wasn't able to peak out enough as it could have. Maureen's more of an obnixious character who probably would have made a speech for herself. The character wasn't allowed to do as much as she probably would have. And knowing Maureen, she probably would have wanted Mark to film her giving a speech, and would have tried to get him to give it to the press or something that would help boost her fame.
