Hmm... I'd have to say Jane Bond (to which I have yet to get my hands on to read... grrr) and Mistress of Dragons... which... if you ask me... the main priestess is bi... though back in those days they didn't have those terms...

Finally got my hands on another Mabel Maney book. This one was called The Case of the Not-So-Nice Nurse, a parody of the Nancy Drew and Cherry Aimes stories. Not as long as the Jane Bond parodies, but still very good. I've still got two more books by her to read I think 'The Case of the Good-For-Nothing Girlfriend' and A Ghost in the Closet'. It make take me a little bit to get the other two... each book costs about $11 but I will get them!
All of her books are easy, fun reads and written in the style of the writing the original series was done in.

Ann-Marie Macdonald's The Way the Crow Flies is an amazing piece of fiction from a lesbian author. I'm not sure if this really would be catagorized as a 'lesbian' book because homosexuality isn't the main focus of the novel. It covers crime, politics, morality and innocence, among other things, but I found that, as a woman of non-mainstream sexual identity, the story had a special significance for me. It's inspired by the Stephen Truscott case and Macdonald's old childhood growing up on an airforce base. Big recommendations right here!

Well I won a $50 amazon.com giftcard for doing a diningstyles survey about the campus food so I was thinking... book spree!
So now I'm set to receive the other two Mabel Maney books, Tipping the Velvet, and Dare Truth or Promise. I would have loved to take everyone's suggestions but I only had $50 (and mom was hinting about mother's day... so I got her a mother themed book). So by the end of the month or so I hope to be able to add my opinions on Tipping the Velvet, and the Maney books. I found Dare Truth or Promise through the good reviews it received, so we'll see about that one too.

Fizzlesticks Dare, Truth or Promise is very good. Nice and short. Yes it was very good. I started reading it after work yesterday and couldn't put it down. It was very sad once it hit halfway and made me cry, but I was glad for the beginnings of resolution at the end. So far I have also completed Maney's The Case of the Good-for-Nothing Girlfriend. I liked it even better. It turned out it was the second book in the series. The third book is A Ghost in the Closet, which also brings the Hardly boys into play as well. I've only read a few chapters of that one, though I want to finish it and probably will tonight after I finish this stupid final exam!

For fantasy: any of Laurie J. Marks novels. She is my all time favorite author, and her books are a much beloved part of my personal library. i was lucky enough to randomly pick up one of her novels at a used book store a few years back and have been in love ever since. just be sure to read the series in order lol Laurie J. Okay so I've finished all the books I've gotten from my book shopping spree. I loved Tipping the Velvet. I actually had to put it down at points because it made my head spinny with the plot and I just had to think about things before reading the next bit. I did watch Tipping the Velvet after that though and it's a favorite now.
A Ghost in the Closet- The 3rd in the Nancy Clue series. Brings in the Hardly boys (aka Hardy boys) and they have some family secrets of their own... the ending is surprising and Nancy doesn't get her way in the end...about what I won't say cause that'd spoil it all. I will say though that Velma and Midge make the best couple in the book series smile
I've got Fingersmith on the way because I downloaded the movie but I hate watching book adaptions without having read the book first because it'd screw me up. I always like to have the book plot in mind as I watch it.

Anybody taken the time to do Amelia Atwater-Rhodes' Kiesha'ra series? She'sa fabulous writer who tends to put a lot of really good advice into her books, no matter who you are. Plus, the series is all shapeshifter oriented, so the good? And, if you don't have a horrifying freak out before the last book in the quartet, you get a really nice little treat.
I have to agree that Annie on My Mind is a great book, as is Block's Violet and Claire, in a dreamland of wierdness sort of way. Anybody know where I can find the text for Carmella?

I've two more to add to this lovely list smile
First is another Sarah Waters book- The Night Watch. I loved this book, especially the style that was used within it. It was my first time to read a book that worked it's way backwards from the beginning. It was confusing at first, but very interesting in the end. I think I'll have to read it again to catch all the little details that confused me the first time around.
The second book is called Three. I can't recall the author and its packed away to be moved into my dorm room with me so I can't get it out. My mom, of all people, gave it to me. It's about this woman who gets into a somewhat abusive relationship with a man and when he suicides, she gets involved with a woman, which is almost as bad as the man...won't say the rest, but it was pretty good.

Well hopefully in a few weeks or so I hope to have 3 more reviews of my own to add to this list. I just went and ordered these books from borders.com:
Aimee and Jaguar by Erica Fischer- I just watched the movie last night and was intrigued to find it was based on the memoirs of Lilly Wust so I looked it up and found this. I also love WWII novels so double yay.
Keeping You a Secret- Yeah, meant to order this the last time, but I had no cash. They don't carry it in the bookstore either, but they do online.
Affinity by Sarah Waters- The last of her novels that I needed to complete my collection. Again, the bookstore doesn't carry it, but the online one does.
