Tunei sat in the corner of his small cell. He was wearing only ragged pants. His legs and wrists were both in shackles and a heavy metal collar was around his neck with a chain leading to a large bolt in the middle of the floor. He had various bruises and cuts over his body from fighting when he'd last escaped about three days ago. His head was slumped down as he glared at the shackles on his wrist trying to think of a way to get them off.

London crawled over to Tunei, his own neck chained to the wall, but his chain was longer, giving him enough leeway to make his way over to the other slaves. He bent down beside Tunei and looked over the cuts, "you shouldnt have tried to run away," he said, "you keep trying, and each time you fail...".

He sighed not lifting his hea. "I'd rather try and fail than never try and give in. I've tasted freedom and know what its like to live without metal around your throat and a whip at your back. It's the most wonderful thing you cn imagine." He swatted at a fly that landed on his cheek.

London sighed. "I know that, Tunei," he said, trying to reason with the boy, "i know that, but you cant expect freedom if you keep getting sent back here... try and be good, and perhaps someone will buy you; it may not be full freedom, but atleast you wont have a chain about your neck and a whip at your back...".

He frowned "How do you know my name?" He still didnt raise his head seeming to be messing with the shackles again.

He just nodded. "I wouldn't be a trouble-maker if they'd allowed me to keep my freedom. They ripped up my papers, the bastards. I earned my freedom and they stole it from me." He sighed and laid down putting his back to London and curling into a ball, the chains making a lot of noise as he moved.

London put a kind hand on Tunei's back. "What did you expect?" he asked, "you were still here, and they want to make a profit off of you... if you get bought, your master can free you then, and there's nothing they can do about it...".

London lowered his head, seeing that no matter what he did, Tunei wouldnt feel better. He crawled back over to his spot in the other corner, looking out of the bars at the rest of the market place.
