I think the techniques for doing that can differ. What ever is easier for a person and sounds better in their opinion. My teacher tells me the ta ka ta method... I guess I am just use to it.

I use "da ga" and have yet to learn how to triple tongue. I can single tongue fast though, and double tongue faster, so I'll probably never learn triple tonguing.

I learned to double tongue using ta ka. Since the ka is a little weak compared with the ta, my teacher made me play the first movement of Bach's Partita in a minor using only ka to strengthen it. It can be really tiring.

My flute teacher always tells me that it's supposed to speed me up, but really all it does is mess me up because I'm trying to concentrate on my tonging instead of the notes. Really, I just do what the clarinets and saxes do instead. dodododododododododo...

yep, my teacher recently ran into some new warm-ups to improve double tongueing, 16th note patterns using only the 2nd syllable (ka or ga) then what my teacher refers to as "calling the kitty" which is just tonging it backwards (ka ta or ga da). I find that one the hardest, but it does help.

I don't like triple or double tonging. I tongue way better when I tongue normally, even when I have to play something fast.

i learned the tu ka tu-tu ka tu method but personally i think it sounds horrible the da ga da-da ga da method sounds sooo much better and if you have the smart music program it has some good practice exercises, if you dont have it you should get it, scales or straight notes are the easiest to practice on, or just give it a try during band class =]
