i spent two hours in the car yesterday listening to Queen, and that song came up. For some reason, the harmonization part reminds me of Carol of the Bells...

I do believe that you just made the guild's 5000th post. xd

Yep, i did! biggrin

Yes, Scaramouche, now that you mention it, that does sort of sound like Carol of the Bells.

Anyway, I was blown away when I first heard The Prophets Song. It's fantastic. However, Bohemian Rhapsody is more accessable to the casual Queen fan (could such a thing exist?).
Prophets Song is a better one for a Queen fan to get into once they've heard a decent amount of Queen music, particularly because it is so sonically overwhelming; there is so much to take in you have to listen to it more than once.

Casual Queen fan... hmm... i don't think i know any of those. Most people i know either love them or hate them... How could you hate Queen? Anyways, i've used Prophet's Song to explain to people why i like Queen so much. If i was to play Bohemian Rhapsody, i'd be accused of just liking them because of Wayne's World, but it's pretty obvious with Prophet's Song.

Lol
I love Bohemian Rhapsody... and not just beacuse of Wayne's World... ^^; But yeah, Prophet's song is a good way of explaining why one likes Queen.

I have no idea how someone could hate Queen, but I love the Prophet's Song because it is a beautiful and interesting song. Also, I like the repeating parts myself.

On the topic of whether or not there are casual Queen fans...well, it depends on what you mean by "casual." My dad, for example, is a seasoned connoisseur of rock music but only has A Night At The Opera and Sheer Heart Attack, and thought they had "sold out" with WWRY/WEATC. And a friend of mine, whose dad is an extremely avid Queen fan, has heard some of their songs but doesn't have an undying love for them or anything.

And there's a large amount of people who've got one of the hits compilations but haven't really explored the rest of Queen's music. This is the category that most Queen fans I know fall under.

I'd say there's a fairly large amount of casual Queen fans, though I suppose there are a lot of die-hard Queen fans who would simply substitute the word "fake," then proceed to beat the living daylights out of anyone who has heard "Killer Queen" but not "Tenement Funster." xd

Almost as bad as Green Day fans. Some people just have a total heart attack whenever they run across someone who doesn't own every album in the bloody catalogue... gonk

The song is an absolute masterpiece that has been overshadowed by others off of ANATO, namely one Bohemian Rhapsody. It is a song I can listen to on repeat and never gets old.

I love that song, but definitely not more than Bohemian Rhapsody. It's not because Bo Rhap is more well-known, it's just that I like Freddie's styles of writing better. :/

And I prefer Brian's writing. =p BoRhap -is- a masterpiece as well, though, one of my favorite songs. It's difficult to not like BoRhap!

Definitely. The whole album is amazing.

I love the song, and don't mind the 'and now I know' section, but it would be nice if it was a bit shorter.
ANatO is one of the five albums I can play through 100% without skipping a song. The others are Wish You Were Here and Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, Who's Next by the Who and Sgt. Peppers blahblahblah by the Beatles

Led by Queen

I love the Prophet's song. I don't think I agree that it's better than Bohemian Rhapsody, but is still great xd
