"...." Kakashi was silent for a moment but his expression didn't change. It wasn't until he sighed and faced the pale-haired kunoichi, she would see the weariness in his eyes. "Sakura... as much as I didn't want this, these were Tsunade-sama's orders. The elders of the village have been restless since Sasuke arrived and even if Naruto gave his word on his life that Sasuke would not betray the village again, they are still not convinced. He may be your friend, he may be my ex-student, but don't let that deter you from letting Sasuke take responsibility for his actions. He knew very well what it would mean if he left the village."

"Anyway.. these are your new orders for now. Since you believe that Sasuke won't attempt to run away or betray the village, Tsunade has placed it in his ex-teammates for the responsibility of keeping an eye on him."

~~~
Sasuke remained quiet the entire time. He knew what Kakashi-sensei was saying was right. He had already anticipated everything after his escape except his return. Now he was stuck in the village, Itachi was still alive somewhere and he had to recover. It was all becoming so perplexing to him that all he could do was gripe about it.
~~~

Kakashi then turned away, "Oh. But it's not the end of it, Sakura," he added with a much lighter tone. "According to the elders, they've given Sasuke a period of house arrest. If he doesn't do anything suspicious for the next few weeks, they might lift the house arrest from him.. but it would take a while before he's allowed to leave the village. In the meantime, I leave him in your hands." and he disappeared in a puff of smoke.

~~~
'Tch.. if they think they can keep me in here..'Sasuke thought, closing his eyes in frustration, instead focusing his gaze on the window.
(O yah.. I changed the rules.. well, there's too few people so I'm allowing others to take control of more than one canon character..^_^)
((Cool! I might take up another character...))
Sakura began to protest, but Kakashi had disappeared already. 'I guess I can't win this fight...' She sighed and stared at the floor. 'Why am I sulking? I can still go outside... but Sasuke... poor Sasuke... I should try and cheer him up.' Sakura turned around to face Sasuke. "Well, let's take care of that stain, shall we?" She shooed Sasuke off the bad and pulled the sheets off. The stain wasn't too deep, so it could be cleaned. She threw the old ones aside, and opened the closet door. "Let's see... it shoul be in here somewh- ah!" She grabbed a batch of fresh new sheets and put them on the bed, smoothing all the wrinkles out. She flung the blnket back over and looked at her work. Not the neatest thing, but oh well. "Well Sasuke..." Sakura tried to think of something that wouldn't except him. She could talk about the village, but that wouldn't do much good. In fact, there was nothing she could think of. "Um.. so.. what's up?" 'Darn you Sakura! That's the best thing you could think up of?'
Sasuke stood up as he let her change the bedsheets before deciding on leaning against the window with his arm to separate his head from the frame as he watched from the outside, academy children bustling around as they were playing hide and seek. Everything seemed so peaceful out there but he was in turmoil inside.
His eyes darted to the side when he thought he heard Sakura speak to him in a casual and friendly manner. It was much opposite of how nearly everyone had looked over him when he was being brought back to the village. "Why do you do this to yourself..?" he muttered, shaking his head but keeping his gaze fixed on the outside. Sakura would most probably still continue to visit him whether the orders were issued or not.
~~~

Before Sakura would have a chance at replying, the door burst open and blue eyes locked onto onyx ones. "What are you two looking so serious for? I'm part of this mission too." his shoulders shrugged as he placed a ramen take-out bag next to the side table. "Hey, Sasuke teme! Eat some ramen, will ya! You trying to starve yourself to death or something?"

~~~
Sasuke shot the blonde boy a glare filled with contempt but made no move to approach the two. "Hn." he simply grunted before turning his head away from them.
Temari walked briskly out of the Hokage Tower after her meeting with Tsunade-sama. It hadn't been anything special, just the monthly diplomacy meetings that she had with the Hokage, as representative of Sunagakure.
But for once, it hadn't been the same old boring paperwork, and civil formalities and all- that really got everybody noplace- that most meetings consisted of. It had been short, because the Council of Konoha couldn't attend, and Tsunade had seemed exhausted, and like she'd drank just a bit too much. But the reason why was what really shocked Temari- and that was saying something, since she was usualy perfectly composed.
'Damn, that idiot kid actually came back?... That's unbelieveable. At least Gaara will be glad to know that Konoha isn't in much danger anymore if that weirdo Sannin doesn't have the Uchiha kid. He's been worrying for months about how he'd manage to provide enough aid if Konoha didn't get the Uchiha back in time, and Orochimaru attacked.' She would have been at the mesage tower, sending a bird to Gaara to let him know the good news, but had been informed that all the available birds were either in use, or getting required rest at the moment.
Temari walked disinterestedly down the streets of Konoha, and to a particular hill, hoping to find the lazy-a** 'crybaby' there cloud-watching, or whatever it was he did to waste hours on end.
She really didn't know how anyone could be so lazy, but at any rate, Shikamaru wasn't at his favorite spot today. "Great. Now what do I do? Go back and sit in my room at the inn until word comes that the messenger bird returned so I can contact Gaara?.." No way was she going to sit idlely by and do nothing. Training was out- she'd trained that morning before the meeting, and all that diplomacy always just drained her anyway..
She walked back towards the main part of the village, hoping to find someone she knew. Maybe that girl Ino on Shikamaru's team was around, or that other girl, Sakura.
(this is just temp ^^)
Shikamaru tilted his head back before jerking his head a little forward for a sneeze. "There must be a cold draft around here or something. Either that or someone's talking about me behind my back." he had been at the monument for some time now with a shogi board in front of him to pass the time and a small cup of sake in the other. After Naruto and Sakura successfully brought Uchiha Sasuke in, things have started to settle down and appeared peaceful but he knew that most people were now building up rumors that the Akatsuki would invade the village soon.
Still, rumors were rumors.. he'd rather not jump into conclusions at some neighbor gossip.. but he had to admit everyone was edgy these days. He spotted a messenger bird flying in the distance to the direction of the Sunagakure Village just moments ago when he had been watching the direction of the clouds. 'Ah.. it's so troublesome just thinking about it..' he muttered to himself before emptying the contents of the sake cup into his mouth and letting the hot liquid slide down his throat in one gulp.
"Sasuke, I'm doing this because I want to! I won't visit you just because of the mission. I'll visit because I want to. You may think people hate you, but they don't!" Sakura said. This was true. Even if she hadn't been assigned to this mission, she would have visited him anyway. Suddenly Naruto burst through the door, yelling casually. She was about to scold him, but decided against it. "See Sasuke, Naruto's here! Don't keep your feelings in Sasuke. Tell us. Your friends." She said sincerly. Things were going okay right now, but what would happen when Sai got here? Kakashi had mentioned that he was part of the mission too... would Sasuke feel as if he was being replaced? She sure hoped not. Maybe she just shouldn't mention the "newest member of team 7". 'Sasuke looks so sad... what could possibly cheer him up?' Sakura sighed. 'But maybe... I won't have to do anything. Naruto's here, and maybe he could cheer him up. He always did act like a clown anyway.'
Sasuke looked up from where he was standing as he eyed the two who were in the room with him. "Friends? Hn, where did you get that idea..?" he retorted, his voice cold. "My feelings..? Huh.." he smirked, "Fine.. I'll tell you. I told both of you long ago I didn't want anything to do with you but perhaps words aren't enough.." he grabbed Naruto by the collar. "You.." he said, he gritted his teeth with rage. "You should have killed me when you had the chance... now you better watch YOUR back... because I'm not reciprocating the favor.."
Naruto gave him an even glare as he jerked away from Sasuke's grip. "HEH! Don't think for a second that you're so special! I beat you once, I can do it again!" but he didn't do anything else. It didn't do Naruto any good to challenge someone that was still injured in the first place.
"Tsk, tsk... you two have only been separated five hours ago and you're still at it..." came a voice from the shadows. A figure in black appeared by the windowsill. He raised a hand in greeting and smiled pleasantly at the trio, "Ohayo ugly, stupid, and Uchiha-san."
"STUPID!?" Naruto flared up, his mouth hung open. He pointed directly at Sasuke's direction. "WHY DOESN'T HE GET A WEIRD NICKNAME!!?"
PostPosted: Sun Jan 28, 2007 12:23 pm
"Sasuke..." Sakura started. He seemed as distant as before, if not more. What kind of training had he been going through? She watched as Sasuke and Naruto had their usual bickering, although it seemed a bit more serious than before. A few years ago, it had been like a rivalry between brothers, and Naruto had always been the one to provoke it. But now.. it seemed like Sasuke really wanted to hurt... and maybe even kill Naruto. She stepped up, ready to sto pthem, when she heard a voice behind her. "Ugly?!" She said, slowly turning her head. That voice could only belong to one person. "Who are you calling ugly?!" She said, raising a voice to Sai. It seemed he had always picked fights, although he seemed emotionless at times. What would happen to Sasuke? Would he be internally jelous of Sai? Probably not. 'I just hope they don't start fighting.'
Temari walked tiredly from Konoha's message tower. As she walked by the Hokage tower and adjacent monument, glancing up at the tower briefly as she walked towards the road the inn she was staying at was on.
Suddenly she paused, seeing a bit of movement up above on the monument. Looking a bit more intently, she realized that she recognized the dark-haired ninja who was sitting there.
Temari grabbed her fan off of her back, flipping it open. Using Kamaitachi no Jutsu, she focused the chakra-controlled wind under her fan, and jumped on, using it to ride her fan up to where Shikamaru sat.
She jumped off and flipped her fan closed, leaning her left arm on it nonchalantly as she took in the scene. "Hey crybaby... What happened to your cloud-watching?.. Too lazy for that now too?" Temari remarked scathingly; in truth though, she was happy to see him.
"K'so... it's suddenly getting so noisy here.." The Uchiha stepped away as he sat on his bed even if the noise wasn't any different than it was where he stood a few minutes ago. He particularly didn't like this new person, Sai-- or whatever his name was. He was still an unknown to him and that smirk on his face wanted Sasuke to wipe the floor with him. But he knew he couldn't do so.. at least not in his current condition. He simply looked away and muttered something inaudible under his breath.
"Why the heck are you sneaking around for anyway? Use the front door like everyone else, Geez!" Naruto grumbled, finding himself a seat to sit on. And he flipped it backwards so his legs rested on either side of the backrest. "If you didn't reveal yourself any sooner, I might've mistook you for a spy or something..!"
Sai merely chuckled in reply, "As energetic as always, baka-kun. If I had used the front door, I doubt you would have suspected less of me as an opponent and would have struck me anyway. I find this way more convenient.." Sai said, sitting on the window with one arm holding onto the side of the wooden frame. "What I find puzzling is why the Hokage would want an entire team to watch Uchiha-san.. it's not like he would go anywhere in his condition anyway.."
~~~~

Shikamaru put a hand over his head as he felt strong winds blowing and he knew immediately who it was who was coming towards him. "Yo." he raised a hand in greeting, mentally cringing at that nickname she gave him. He wished she'd just forget about that incident but knew she was going to keep rubbing his face with it so he merely shrugged it off, "Still as 'charming' as ever, I see. Bout time you showed up, you took centuries in that office.." he smirked as he slowly got up. "I've been given orders to escort you back to Sunagakure."

Temari glared at his remark about her taking too long, but refrained from letting him know that a good portion of her day had actually been spent looking for him.

"Hmph, it's not like I enjoy those meetings. Anyway, what do you mean, you're assigned to escort me back to Suna?... I don't need any special protection, I'm capable of taking care of myself, unlike some people."

But Temari knew her brother had probably had a hand in this- he'd requested an escort back for her the last time she'd returned home too. Gaara could be way too over-protective sometimes.

"Don't talk about Sasuke that way!" Sakura yelled, a little too loud. "You don't even know him! He's capable of doing way more than you think!" she shouted, holding back the fist that wanted to punch him so bad. She sighed and clamed herself down a bit. This was a bad first meeting. What would Sasuke and Sai think of each other now? The last thing she needed was another pair of rivals. "Sasuke, this is Sai." she said sweetly, pretending nothing had happened. "He's been assigned to wa- help you get used to Konoha again, just like the two of us." Sakura said as if she had been the one who had gave the mission. "He's not as loud as Naruto, so maybe you two could get along." she said smiling. 'Let's hope what I said will be true... if they fight then someone's going to have to stop them. And it's probably going to be me.'

"Hm?" Sai looked over Sakura questioningly, his gaze never faltered nor was it evident that he felt anything after she had told him off. He gave a deep sigh as he leanted backwards to the point of him looking like he was going to fall backwards from the window but surprisingly was still stable before sitting up. "I think I've already been acquainted with Uchiha-san. Not to worry.." but he knew that Sakura was pretty much capable of throwing a punch right about now so he held his tongue. "Sigh.. but babysitting really isn't part of the Roots..."

"You're welcome to leave.." Sasuke muttered angrily, his glare was so intense it almost seemed as if he was trying to bore holes into the other brunette's face. "And don't talk like I'm not around."

"Gomen yo, but whether the mission assigned to me is foolish in my eyes or not. I still have to follow them. In the meantime, Uchiha-san, you are under my care as well. I'd do well not to move about in that condition else you would take longer to heal up.. And poor Sakura would have to keep changing your bandages for you.." Sai answered calmly, a pleasant smile on his lips as if what Sasuke had not affected him in any way.
Naruto wiped his forehead with the back of his hand. Things were really getting out of hand here. "Sai, just shut it, okay? He's not in the mood." he muttered, taking his ex-teammate's side on this one. It would be bothersome to have to watch him all at once. For once, an idea struck him, "Hey, why don't we take turns watching him? Nobody said we had to do it all at the same time, right?" he suggested to the others.

~~~~
Shikamaru knew she was going to bring that up too and the corners of his mouth raised to a smirk. "You'll be surprised at how much I've improved.. but hey, orders are orders. If you think I'm not capable of protecting you, then you should really be more alert.." his eyes motioned down to the ground where her shadow had connected to his, apparently.
He did not make any move to use a jutsu nor did he want to bother wasting chakra into challenging her before having to escort her outside the borders either but it was rather tempting...
PostPosted: Wed Jan 31, 2007 8:05 pm
Temari glanced down at her feet, trying to hide her surprise. She didn't know how she had let down her guard- it just wasn't like her, but here, if he had been an enemy ninja, she'd would probably be dead right now.
Temarireagined her composure almost immediately, and looked back up at Shikamaru, an apathetic look on her face. "I knew. But it doesn't matter, because I know you're too much of a lazy-a** to use this opportunity. You'll probably just start staring at the clouds again, that's all you're good at."
Temari gave him a somewhat sarcastic smile, then picked up her fan and turned to go. "But whatever, orders are orders I guess. Let me know when you're ready to leave. I guess I'll go get my things from the inn..." Temari did have to admit though, that lazy little cry-baby did seem to have improved though.. she really hadn't even noticed her shadow and his connecting, which bothered her.
"Guys, please don't fight." Sakura said. She glanced at Naruto, hearing his proposition. "Wow Naruto, thats-" Sakura paused. She imagined Sai and Sasuke facing off, only to leave the other dead on the floor, blood seeping into the wood. "No Naruto, I think this'll be more enjoyable with the three of us. I mean, what if Sasuke's asleep? Then we'll be bored, right? And if Tsunade caught you at Ichiraku's, she may punish you before you had a chance to explain. Right?" Sakura smiled. 'And that way you won't kill each other. And who knows, Naruto may fall asleep and Sasuke will escape. Then Tsunade will never trust him.'
