ultimaweapon5 yea, i understand how you feel. i think atlantis has a bit of typicalness in it. the wraith dont have that much going for them, no originality, just life sucking aliens. i liked the goauld because they imitate gods, fight wars, enslave people, glowing eyes, egyptian names and links to ancient egypts. i'm glad they kept that with the ori, using some myths like arthur and exalibur and stuff. however atlantis lets me down every now and then, i start to get bored of wraith with no history. I think Stargate Command might actually come around, and who knows, maybe it'll focus on Jack and stuff. i think they said they will bring in someone from sg1. who knows sweatdrop I felt like they "disposed" of the wraith threat a little too soon... I think they should have held out another season before Atlantis made contact with earth and had their big wraith battle. It seems that they really shoved their issues with the wraith on the back burner, thus pushing their potential into a comer. Also, I'm kind of annoyed at the writer's choice of a "new" enemy. But knowing the writers, they must have something up their sleeves. Don't get me wrong...I like Atlantis as much as I like SG-1, the strong characters really make the show interesting, it's just if I really stop to think about it, those are a couple issues I make myself ignore, but ponder how the show could have been different otherwise.

ultimaweapon5 so the producers have announced that their working on a third series of stargate, which isn't currently named. what do you think it'll be called? or what would you like it to be called? what would it be about? discuss any thought you have in here =] stargate sg1, stargate atlantis and stargate ??? I recently read at Gateworld that the working title is Stargate: Universe. You can check out the article here: Gateworld Article Beware there might be what some consider spoilers within the article! I watched the Sci-Fi feed of the Atlantis panel at Comic Con and they hinted/joked at a possible plot point for the 3rd series. [SPOILER (highlight to read)] They might use the 9th chevron! [/end spoiler] Anyway, make of it what you will. I did find it interesting and look forward to giving the new series a chance. Cheers mrgreen

I think the third series should stay at the SGC. One of the things that made Stargate stand out as a sci-fi series was how connected it was to the modern day. Sam got down time and worked on her motorcycle. Jack and Teal'c rented movies. Daniel... well, okay, Daniel wasn't much for leaving the base, but he did some stuff, too. xd The point is that even with all this sci-fi action there was still a feeling of familiarity that made it really easy to relate to the characters. It really felt like they were living in the same world as we do.
I don't think Atlantis really has this going for them because it's so detached (other galaxy and all). Granted, they can still refer to the present day a lot, but Star Trek could do that with holodecks and baseball. Similarly, the new show Eureka doesn't have that feeling because they have so much extremely advanced technology. Even in the later seasons of SG-1 they continued to maintain that feeling because the characters could still go out into the real world.

trekkie81 I have this really ominous feeling that the new series will be totally different, taking place in a different galaxy or universe. From what I heard this series will not be tied in with SG-1 or Atlantis. It's suppose to be a stand alone. And this is what I found out so far... Produced by MGM, the show was set to enter pre-production in March 2007, entering production in mid 2007 with a projected premiere in early 2008. It is anticipated that Stargate Universe will be filmed and produced in Vancouver, Canada, as with the preceding series. According to show runner Robert C. Cooper, the "series maintains the spirit of Stargate, but opens up a whole new 'universe'." It is currently being developed as "a completely separate, third entity"—as opposed to Stargate Atlantis, which was created as a spin-off from the first series Stargate SG-1. It has been rumoured, and denied, that Michael Shanks, who played Daniel Jackson in Stargate SG-1, has been offered the lead in the new series

HOLY CRAP! about avryblue's comment, that's such a long ways away!!! holy crap! and i don't really care about what the third series is going to be about, as long as they SHOW ME THE FERLINGS!!! that's the one thing that pissed me off the most about stargate: we never got to see the ferlings throughout the entire run of the show! another thing that made me quite irate was the entrance of the replicators in atlantis! the replicator idea was great, but it's dead now! just give it up! i love sga because of the new bad guys, the wraith, and i was so sad that they couldn't come up with something more original! but, on another, kind of on-topic note, there's going to be two games released: stargate worlds, an mmorpg, and some other one! also: two movies: ark of truth and continuum. what i heard about the new series is that it'll be based on one of the two films. another thing i heard about the third series is that it would be a completely different planet! a different planet, race, technology. the only way they're connected to the sgc is that they have a stargate. it's about THEIR problems. now, the source i got this from is hardly ever right, but there are some occasions. and if they are right, i'll write in to them about how stupid they are.

I just hope it doesn't suck. I would be really sad if it was awful. Although, I don't know if I could watch Stargate without Daniel and Jack.

The basis sounds a wee bit like atlantis. "Hey lets go to this place we've never been with no hope of getting back!" I absolutely adore stargate so I'm gonna put my faith in the writers and hope it isn't stale. Now show me more hot aliens and more space battles with capital ships!
