Well, species wouldn't really be seperated by the levels of the city. Because the way the story seems this city would be less than 100 years old - not long enough for any real adaptations to happen.

There could be a wide variety of species that had "migrated" to the city, kind of like the urban movement thoughout the last century of the US. Or you could base things on the basis of this being an alien planet. Humans came with technology, and they live beneath the city because of harsh solar radiation experienced on the planets surface.

So you could have humans, and some of the planets normal race as the machinists. And the normal race as the religious.

I suggest even though they would be an alien race, that the planets residence be mostly humanoid. Like the races of FFXI. Humans with mild changes to ears, facial structure, and/or size.

Sorry I haven't been around to help the discussion - was out of town for a couple weeks. All the suggestions since mine seem good, and if we can get a few people online at a time, I think we could start character profiling and whatnot. Maybe that would be the next step from now...

As for other races; I suggest MOST people go for the normal human on eitherside. Maybe after we get more people in, then you could go for another race - the Final Fantasy sort of idea is good.

Name of the Planet: I dont' care... really, i don't
Mood: um... for me I'd say preppy. Causse I like to cause trouble, and my character is an outlaw...
Species: The species should be something good. Like inhabitants of Earth that are forced to move here cause the original Earth was destroyed.
Religions: Everyone on the former Earth lost their thoughts on religion because of the fact that the Earth was destroyed. There were a few crazy people that still liked God and all the other deities, but were killed in a canabalistic effort to save themselves from starvation till new forms of food became accessible. So now, it's more along the lines of an agnostic approach.
Technology: Well considaring the fact that this is a new Earth, the 'gizmos and gadgets' are quite primitive. Thought there are still medication that was "new technology" right before the Earth exploded.

Wow, that actually turned into a good story plot.
