What's better than having the roster of Dragon Gate at the show?

Besides Lyger....and Kenta Kobashi....and KENTA....and Lance Storm.....

You're very lucky I'm going to help you despite the fact you have a sig that says King Booker sucks.

First off, the DVD that has the Punk/Lethal title match is Sign of Dishonor. There is also a Punk/Lethal match from back when he was Hydro on Survival of the Fittest 2004 but that match sucks. Although SotF '04 is worth picking up for the great ME.

Secondly, Dragon Gate Challenge and Death Before Dishonor III are poor choices for a starter. What you want is Manhattan Mayhem. Besides having one of Austin Aries' best title defenses on it against Alex Shelley it also has a good Gibson/Black Tiger IV match, a really good Pure Title match between Samoa Joe and Jay Lethal (arguably the best match Lethal has had), and everything else on the card is at least slightly above average if not better.

You can still get DGC and DBD III I suppose, but know that outside of the ME not a lot is really that amazing. If you've seen Styles/Petey once you've seen everything there is to see and, if you're like me, you won't want to see that again. The Christopher Daniels Survival Match (Four Corner Survival) is just your average filler and no matter how entertaining Strong/Evans are as a tag team working against Izzy & Deranged isn't the makings of a good match. Joe/Cabana and Ki/Lethal would probably at least make the DVD worth getting if you aren't a total Punk mark but those matches have taken place before and on better shows.

As for DGC, it's basically another three match show. You've seen Daniels/Joe (if you haven't I'll be pretty surprised) so the ME isn't anything exciting and I don't remember it being very good anyway. GeNext vs. Blood Generation steals the show by bringing the fast paced action and having it click very well despite the wrestlers not all being familiar with each other. DoFixer vs. Styles/Sydal is okay although not anything amazingly exciting. Not that Styles working someone from Japan ever is. And the other highlight is Shelley/Rave vs. Danielson/Delirious which is a lot of fun. Oh and Jacobs takes a huge bump in his match against Whitmer, but why the hell would you want to see a BJ Whitmer match?

If I had to suggest two other shows to you besides Manhattan Mayhem they would have to be Steel Cage Warfare and Better Than Our Best. The biggest problem with those two is the fact the main events are big blowoff matches, but 'Cide/Cabana was a lame feud anyway that you don't really need to know about to enjoy them killing each other. Steel Cage Warfare on the other hand, you might want to familiarize yourself with the Generation Next/Embassy feud prior to purchasing that.

And if anyone suggests a show to you because KENTA is on it don't listen to them. Just a bit of advice.

Sign of Dishonor is I 'spose good if you're a fan of Punk during his heel days, since this DVD shows it off well (well, not as well as his p***k heel days way back when, but still good.) Honestly though, I didn't find the show to be very good. Jay Lethal in any ME is never a good thing, as is Azriel and Lacey being...near a wrestling promotion. Though another good thing is it has Jimmy Jacobs during his HUSS days, but he's with BJ Whitmer. And if you're a fan of old school, they've got Mick Foley pulling a promo in there, too.
