How do you care for a locket? Did anyone write an easy five steps book for this?

The other day, a good friend of mine gave me a locket. You can imagine my reaction. It was absolutly beautiful! I tried it on and was admiring it's strange blue glow when Ivy told me that it was alive, and would one day become something more....

Now not so thrilled as before, I took the locket off and examined it through different eyes. More responsability. But what was I supposed to do? It was so beautiful, and you don't just reject a living thing! Besides, Seth really liked the way it shined.

I guess all we do now is wait for another member of the style family...

Well, today was defenetly a scare. I lost the locket. Honestly, it should be illigal for me to have a family, especially with family members of the inatimate sort...

I looked everywhere for it, even under things that I didn't know we had. Maybe it was just a locket, but I couldn't let Ivy down! She must know what she's talking about. I still wonder what it will become...

Anyway, back on subject. I looked everywhere. So frantically that I didn't answer Ankh the first few million times he asked me what I was doing, which had him pretty worried, the big softy that he is (Don't tell him that I said that!). After I told him, he and his ancestor's spirit were both looking with me! How embarassing! Having Ankh need to call on his resting ancestor just to help me look for a locket!

After a full day of searching, I sat down on the couch to think about where on earth I could have left it, and considering how big earth is, this was pretty frustrating. Before I could get too upset, Ankh mentioned that we had not checked Seth's room.

Well, that got me going like a bee to some sort of sticky sugar substance. Zoomed right up the stairs! Faster than I ever have before. Damned stairs. I marched right into Seth's room to see him sitting on his little couch with the locket in his hands.

He held it up to me and babbled something that only a mother could understand-- which I most defenetly am not!--and then allowed me to take it back from him. I have to admit, that kid is adorable, but I wonder what he wanted with the locket...

The weirdest thing happened!! Well, maybe not the weirdest, but it was pretty weird.

I was really bored the other day so I decided to go swimming in the lake in the back of the manor. I knew I defenetly couldn't leave the locket alone. Seth and Ankh were both out of the house, but I was still worried that the little locket would manage to dissapear somehow.

Any-who. I put the locket around my neck and decided to take it swimming with me. What was the harm? It was probably safer to keep it with me anyway, right?

Well, I was having the time of my life. I was having a good laugh at the demons that couldn't come anywhere near the blessed lake. Oh, you should have seen the mean looks on their faces!

Then, since I'm so good at ruining good times, a dive under the water, a sharp turn to the left, and the locket slips right off of my neck. You should have seen the look of shock on my face. Gave those damned demons a good laugh.

I watched the locket sink for a good minute or so, frozen in shock. I didn't think that if I swam for it I would make it. I thought for sure the locket was lost forever--until I came back to my sences. What was I thinking? I was a member of the style family! The ability to breath underwater and the strength for fast swimming was mine!

I instantly jolted forward and reached out for the locket--and here is the part that makes the rest of my story completely pointless, because this would be the point of it all--When I wrapped my fingers around the locket in that ice-cold water, it began to radiate a very strong heat.

I wasn't too startled. All I could really do was smile as I surfaced. I guess Ivy was right about the locket being alive. I have no doubt of that now. I'm just wondering...why the heat?
