Well, Silv, as you commented on your name, I could think of countless ideas for the American in the Eygptian area. It all depends if the time frame, and if I knew the character more... I mean it can go back to the 1800's all the way to the modern-time, plus we could go on why the person is there. Let's see if i can quickly come with something....
The first thing I could think of as I peered out amoung the sand was, wow. In the distance the sun blared violently upon the city, making it glitter against the burnt orange sand. It seems so near, though only the wind could be scarcely heard, giving me the the knowledge that we had some way to go yet. Nabeel smiled slightly, looking over at my obvious shocked face. "Ah, yes, it is a wonderous city." Nabeel then continued, leading my camel, making me jump once more. As I mentioned before the sun was like fire, burning me. It was, undoubtedly going to heat up even more so, as Nabeel had explained eariler.
The first thing I did when we stopped, was slide of the camel. My legs were stiff and covered with sand that had blown over us. I slowly unwrapped my Turban, letting my hair down. It was all a fiery-red mass, soaking with sweat. The first thing I wanted to do was take a bath.
Hmm, well that is good enough... anyone want to continue?

Scarlett Pearl I completely agree with that. I have the same problem. I was reading The Scarlet Letter for school and afterwards I had a huge urge to write a story about the affair of a woman and her minister. And I just went and saw Aragon (Don't know if I spelled that right, and I'm far to lazy to look it up) and now I'm thinking "Hey, it would be fun to write something with dragons and a super hapt guy" (although the Hot guy part is just me). Recently I've been working on a Mystery story that is technically a homework assignment for school, but I've been making it long and complicated and it seems to be a mix of James Bond and Charlie's Angels (old '70's version, which is better anyway). So yeah, I know what you mean. yes i agree, sometimes it happenes when i watch t.v i see something i want to write about

Two random ideas I have had but probably never use
Mindscape A young boy is sent into a coma and wakes in a strange land. This land is actually a strange representation of his mind. Within his mind several of his more powerful emotions have taken shape and are trying to capture the boy so that they can control his body.
Of Guns and Magic: A World Divided The empire of Earth once spread far and wide, its colonies inhabiting several star systems but all good things must eventually fall. The empire crumble leaving its many colonies stranded and alone, forcing them to fight for themselves. One of these colonies was sent into a civil war, which resulted a comprise between the two sides and each side ended up with one half of the planet.
Several hundred years later the ancestors of the two have lost knowledge of this treaty and believe that the other side of the planet is either cursed or plague ridden. One side is a feudal age type empire that has developed magic and the other is a futuristic republic.

bluegray Yes, but that can be considered plagarism, and that's not something any writer wants to be accused of, even if the plagarism is accidental. When that happens you can only turn around and say that it was probably plagarised in the first place? Some people argue that Harry Potter bears close resemblance to LOTR, but that hasn't stopped Rowling. Remember: there are only so many plot lines in the world. It's how you write the story that matters. Or, at least that's my opinion anyways 3nodding

bluegray The problem is, all of my ideas are inspired by other series and authors. After reading Cirque du Freak, I was into a vampire writing stage. After Letters to a Christian Nation it was political correctness. No idea is really original today, would anyone agree? Oh, I agree! But do you know something? The great writers from centuries ago owe their fame mostly to that fact that they had a plethora of unused ideas to muse through. Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper, for instance, consists of a simple idea, and the writing technique, as far as syntax and such, are nothing prodigious. It's just that no one ever wrote it before. Oh, and about this File 13... NEVER! I like to horde my dead-end ideas for myself. I'm too paranoid that someone will write a prestigious, award-winning novel based on the excretions of my brain, and I won't get any credit. Muahahahah.
