Norian Darkeyes Having sat down about ten minutes ago on the ground, and still not coming up with any thing, Syre decided he probably wouldent get anything and maybe it would be better to just pay up. So he stood and walked grimly twords the tax building. Some old codger in thick glasses confronted Syre as he got up, not violently, but it was obvious the old gent was an Imperial Tax Collector by the plain brown suit he wore, and the badge that said level three tax collector. The old man was on his way to a meeting when he overheard Syre, lingering, then working up the courage to lecture him. "Young man, I know how you feel about paying taxes, but you must remember that I myself am a taxpayer. Paying taxes is important, why without taxation there would be no way to maintain the Imperial Army, and without the Imperial army, this city would be overun by the barbarian menace taking hold over Beyon. And the infastructure, the very cement you sit upon, was paid for by Imperial Taxes. What about the schools, and the maintanance of the palace. You don't think that tower has stood all these years on goodwill alone. In my day people didn't complain about... blah blah, blather blather..."

You don't think that tower has stood all these years on goodwill alone. In my day people didn't complain about... blah blah, blather blather..." Honestly, didnt this man know who he was lecturing! He damn sure got paid enough by Syre to at least know not to lecture him. Syre had lived on this planet for more years then most people could count to in a day, and during that time he had gained a considerable amount of wealth, only to be paying a good four percent of what he had in his bank account every month. Yet here he was being lectured by a man whom probably didnt know that what Syre paid the government paid his salary at least five times over every month. So Syrdust, launched a counter rant. "Good sir, I know what taxes do for this city. And i know about the problems. But honestly the military isnt that strong or the beasts would be dealt with. I mean couldent we at least afford better training? Or better men? I could deal with quite a few myself. Why-" He stoped mid sentence. Syre had an epiphany! Maybe he could strike a deal with the government. Maybe if he helped take care of the borders and kill some of the vile things running around the government would let him slide on his taxes. Sure he would pay this time but he hoped it would be the last time.

Damian after getting the message about the food popping up in his face literally proceeded to walk over towards the APC while all the time scanning for hostile intents from any in the crowd. He silently moved over until he was at the fridge and rummaged through it to simply remove a plain fare of bread and water. Damian removed the piece of his mask that covered his mouth which betrayed how tortured and damaged his skin was and put it inside of a pocket in his coat. He quickly ate the bread and drank the water and then replaced the mask piece. The whole process took less than a second so to most it looked like the food and water simply disappeared. "Do not worry, Frau Commandant. I will simply place my extensions underneath my coat and hide them underneath. If truly necessary for me to hide them with out coat I will simply bind them under my vest. I will simply seem like a man who have been grievously injured in the past. If I truly have to, I will simply use the holo-projector that R and D handed to me so I can hide the mask and clothes and actually blend in." Damian states trying to assuage his Commander's fear about the locals attacking him for being a different race. Damian looks up to the tower in a state of remembrance. It has been nearly a half century since he was last here and had to escape the prisons. Then again, technically he is still recorded as a prisoner of the Imperial City despite the fact he is outside the prisons. He has also haven't paid his taxes for a least a hundred years if not many more than that. "I wonder how much I owe them now, with a century of back taxes I need to pay." He muses out loud enough that the Commander and whoever is near her might hear him.

Adaire "We're eating at the Grand Manifest Sky Palace, so let's make this a light brunch."
"Oh. Well then I can wait. I'll have a better appetite by then anyways."
He brushed by and began to slowly pace around their area, seemingly anxious to get moving. He wasn't, really. It was just a vague sense of foreboding.

Gear was about to grab something to eat, but something felt off. He blinked a couple times and ran several scans of the area. Nothing in infrared, no odd energy signatures, no elevated pulse rates, nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary that his tech could pick up. Yet something in his gut told him something bad was going to happen. Maybe it was just this seemingly pointless/hopeless mission as the land was breaking apart due to all these troubles. Not to mention the increase in violence as of late.

Why that is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. We have the finest military in Beyon, and.... and... what you are saying simply borders on treason." He walked away angrily. "The youth of our country these days!" he moaned.

She recognized the look, when he was anxious he always got fidgety and started wandering around looking at this and that.
"You're a good man, Zetsu," Adaire said, "I swear everybody will find out what this is all about when we there. Nothings going to go wrong."
She put both her hands on his shoulders and leaned in to give him a playful peck on the forehead. That was unlike her, she looked at him softly as she pulled away and moved to talk to Damien. Taking a light snack of cut vegetables and fruit juice from the side compartment.
"I'm sure that will be sufficient," she said concerning his attempts to camouflage his appearance. "It's so calm here. It was always like that, especially in the palace. I guess all the trouble is being kept in the Senari prefect. This city, it's calm is deceptive."
Among the citizens nearby would the man who had just been confronted and scolded by a serious tax collector npc guy.

He could only smile at her truthfulness and open nature as he responded to her words.
"If you say so then, Adaire. It's just that old habits are hard to break. I'm too used to worrying about whatever might be ahead. Don't worry about me."
Though after replying to her he quit his pacing, a glint was still to be seen in Zetsu's eye. Despite how she felt about the situation, it was a need of his to wonder about what would be happening.

Upon reaching the temple district, Ruric felt his next task at hand. How was he supposed to find his dojo among the many that laid before him. Looking for the symbol his master burned into his hands. Well, This does look close... Maybe if I keep serching. As ruric uttered those words, he looked up and saw the symbol burned into his hand. Overfilled with joy, Ruric walks in.

"Well, no use stalling the inevitable," Adaire said.
She boarded the APC, time to get to the Central Manifest. It wouldn't be long before the APC convoy was waved through the barrier wall of the central manifest. The tower would loom ahead, it's top too high to even see as it rose above the clouds. Flanking them were the gated estates of the nobles, palatial mansions and homes to the wealthiest and most powerful people in the known world. The tower was so huge that the central street ran under it, and soon they were encased by the tower itself.
Everyone would have to exit and board Adaire's personal vehicle as the others vehicles were taken to the military parking center. Adaire APC would take a ramp, onto an elevator that would take them fifty stories up, to the VIP parking. They wouldn't be anywhere near the senate and palace yet, as the palace was a world in its own right. There were actually rooms here that were big as most buildings.
The parking lot was cavernous, luxury vehicles scattered about loosely. As everyone filed out, an attendant would be there to greet them.
"Good to see you arrived safely, might I ask which one of you is the princess?" he asked.

Adaire and the rest could hear someone let out a whistle. A man in a light blue kimono and white hakama was standing next to the APC. How long he had been there or where he came from was a mystery though. "Wow thats not your standard APC. Wonder if its a new high class model or modified." Meta muttered to himself.

The ride to the palace was thankfully much more brief than the one preceding it, and Zetsu was keen to remain alert, quite impressed by the enormity of the massive tower to which they were headed. As soon as their APC and it's new passengers reached their destination, Zetsu made it a point to exit the vehicle first, this time for security reasons.
He was here as a bodyguard, after all.
He stood to the side of the APC door as the rest of the party filed out of the vehicle and waited for them all to exit. He would hear the voice of the attendant as the last few people exited. The attendant "Good to see you arrived safely, might I ask which one of you is the princess?" he asked.
'Princess?!'
"Princess...? Wha-"
Before the surprised man could answer, the unnoticed man nearby let out a whistle, further agitating the already ruffled Zetsu. With a motion honed by years of training, Zetsu wrenched the revolver from his holster and within half a second had it aimed squarely in between the stranger's eyes.
Though he happened to suddenly remember the weapon was far from being used as anything but a hammer, Zetsu had to admit there was no way the stranger could realize that the weapon was broken..
"Who the hell are you?!"

Meta smiled and scratched the back of his head. The man in front of him seemed to be a little high strung, or frustrated. "Just someone who lost there way haha. No need to use such force though." Meta grinned a silly grin at the man. He pushed the tip of the gun upwards slowly away from his face. Wouldn't want a chance of a misfire.

Not thirty seconds spent here, and a fight had already broken out. Gear was starting to get a migrane, not that there was anything he could do about it at this point. He came to a landing. "There must be a misunderstanding," he said, slowly trying to word what he would say. Were they mistaken for being someone else? "We're...the Mercenary League, not...whomever you've mistaken us for."

As Damian filed out of the vehicle he quickly moved to a protective position of the Commander. It wasn't that she couldn't take care of herself or needed to, it was just Damian was still wary of this place especially because of the nature of the last time he was here. Damian was a bit taken aback by the mention of the princess. As far as he knew none of them were princesses especially not him. He immediantly thought of Adaire, currently the only girl there that would make the most sense. Damian, completly ignoring the brewing fight, where one of the combatants had a pistol only good for bashing people over the head with, disappeared from his position and reappeared behind the the attendant before most could even react. "Who is this princess that you speak of? Answer quickly or else," Damian who is uncharacteristically impatient, tired of being in the dark and his hatred of the city getting to him as time wore on. Damian's hand was also upon the shoulder of the attendant so the attendant couldn't escape if he wanted to.
