According to current thinking in Physics, everything we think of as solid is actually made up of very tiny particles (quarks, leptons, etc) that occupy a tiny fraction (<<<1%) of the volume of the perceived object, the rest is just empty space. If it weren't for the forces that hold these particles together, everything would just dissipate into a cloud of almost nothingness.

I heard on a TV show that one of the many String Theories says that there is only one string and everything in the universe is made up of that one string (traveling everywhere very fast). This idea is way out there.

So my thought is that the chair is not real because it's perceived physicality is just an illusion.

Your chair does not exist.

What you are sitting on is a combination of electrons, neutrons, and protons into different states, "elements", and probably all of those things existed as other things until positioned to be what it is now. While, what it is now is what you call a "chair", the fact of the matter is that it is some form of the same thing you are made of.

Therefore, unless you are willing to say simply because it has a different combination of electrons/protons/neutrons, it is different from you, then your chair is nothing more than the same thing you are--reconfigured--and does not exist as a separate entity.

i heard from someone that nothing exsists only the idea of something
because the physical something can be taken away or desteoyed yet the idea of it (unless only one person has the idea and the physical thing and both person and thing are destroyed and no one else knows about it then it will only exsist as long as the person who thought of it does) can not be destroyed

i thinking about something on the bus this morning
a friend of mine said that in order for something to exsist you have to presive(sp?) it using one if not all five of your senses (or six if you think thats possible)
so if your cant hear see smell touch or taste someone and your comunicating through text or msn or threads like this your not technically presiving them with your senses so they technically dont exsist to you, because obviously someone that is presiving them makes them exsist. but if they are alone then they could be presiving themself

if they are comunicating through msn or text or whatever that you cant see or hear them the idea of them is present making them exsist through the first theory that i submitted
also that if you start thinking of that person when they arent around makes them exsist
which means that the chair only exsists in you head
