crying It's different with girls. It's the urge to conform to what people see as the "perfect figure."

I like guys with jiggle.

I don't like it when I have jiggle. ><

Maybe I'll just be conservative and just make the top longer. @.@

For some characters it really does look better for thinner cosplayers. It's not why I'm losing weight, but a nice bonus. Oh yeah, and it's less painful for girs with smaller chests to cosplay males than girls with larger chests.

Mer.. I would say that everything Buki said earlier is right on. Another way to get into shape (I did this for a little while but it became WAY too expensive for a poor college student) was Karate. Getting into a good dojo can be hard, but it can end up being one of the most cardiovascular intensive activities I've ever done, aside from track and field training.

Also.. water.. drink lots of water while you workout and things! It's one of your BEST ally's when you're trying to lose weight. Not too sure where thing slike Gatorade stands here though because I don't really drink it...

It's hard when it comes to cosplay. Really, a person should cosplay as a person because they love the character! However, I did actually do this a while ago because I wanted to dress as Rikku from X-2. I used a diet curbing product from GNC called Xenadrine.. it is extremely dangerous though! Side effects I suffered a lot were dizzyness, drymouth and an extremely increased heartbeat.
In restrospect, probably shouldn't have used it because I was just trying to lose my 'Freshman 15'. In long term effects, I kept losing weight months after I stopped taking the pills and went from 130 (was going more to my normal weight of 105), all the way down to 90lbs (At one doctor visit, I clocked in at 87lbs. It had essentially pushed my hypo/hyperactive thyroid in super hyperactive mode for about 4 months after the con.. I STILL can't fit into the skirt for the cosplay unless I tack it in), and I had a really hard time staying healthy and getting 'healthy' weight back on after that.

But yes... just lots of crunches, cardiovascular activities.... Swimming is a GREAT way to workout all of your muscles.

O_O Wow......

I was going to the gym, just finding time to go is hard in and of itself!

Darn the freshman 15! I always hear about it at the colleges I visit.....so funny! But can be bad too!!

Gah, freshman 15. But then again, I don't know how to cook, and I'm lazy when it comes to eating...

Water? Will do. I'm not sure if I would take the GNC- I've got a bigger thyroid than normal people. @.@

I'll keep that in mind. ^^ I can't wait to see if I'll be able to do Yuffie... ^^

Buki
well what i'd like to know is, what exactly are you doing to lose weight? a few things to know and they're basically common sense.

-have a low fat/low calorie diet.
-burn more calories than what you take in.
-eat your fruits and veggies and avoid stuff that swims in lots of fat and oil razz
-eat small but often to build up your metabolism
-if you eat a lot of breads, rice, and pastas in your daily diet, try to cut back on them as they are carbs.

pilates also helps tighten your tummy, especially the lower ones, but the pilates lessons that focus on that area are more of the advanced level if you're new to it. i've tried it as a newbie and it really made my abs sore.

daily activities also burns calories such as doing chore work or walking your dog but a faster way of burning them is weights or cardio. personally i like to run/jog 4+ miles every other day which is around 12-14 miles a week. it also really helped tone my legs. when i first started working out, i never ran 4+ miles. i only started running at only half a mile. so what i'm saying is don't push yourself too hard too soon (you might hurt yourself) and do things in moderation. 3nodding

also the last thing razz

-starving doesn't help. in fact starving eats away at your muscles first rather than your fat. i'm sure you already know that it's actually the slowest and unhealthy way to lose weight.

as for needing to lose weight for cosplay? eh, i wasn't doing it for cosplay. i only did it for myself.

I love you for this! ^^

...Deliver me from all of this sadness...

Sakura.no.Yuki- You could always buy those silicon bras.. o.0 My mom has a D cup one although she's a B [actually an A, but she denies it. =.=]. ^^;

At Fanime though, I did lose a few pounds with all that running and lack of finding food. =.=;; But after that, I've lost 5 or so more pounds just by cutting down food serving portions. :3

Now I gotta try and look good for my next cosplay. :3 My cosplays are so expensive that I usually want to complement the designs... and I order them a few months ahead of time, so I make it a bit smaller. xD Incentive to lose weight so I'll fit...

I wish I didn't care about my weight but I do... I need to loose weight for my Seras Victoria Costume. Mostly stomach and love-handle fat and maybe some leg too though. Maybe 10 to 15 pounds. But I only have 25 days. I guess I'll go on my all fruit and vegi diet with little meat/noodles/rice/etc... I hate this, my self esteem sucks, I have no confidence... I'm going to do some core workouts now... whenever I have spare time, thats what i'm going to do.

Honestly, I don't think you need to be thin to cosplay. ALTHOUGH, I do understand how it makes it harder when you aren't as thin as the character. WHICH IS USUALLY IMPOSSIBLE ANYWAY.

Some people are asses about it, I know I'm not FAT, but I'm definitely not THIN so cosplaying this year was a little nervewracking, but I had so much fun in the end and I don't regret it at all. I know I didn't look all hot and sexy like some people did, but I got to dress as my favorite bishonen ever and isn't the passion for a series/character the important part!? I dunno, thats my opinion.

But yea, I did have to flatten my chest a bit for my cosplay. I'm a C cup, but I managed to hide them decently... >>; (Akila is the blond one) They are there, but a lot smaller. It really helps pull a cosplay together I think. Cause that shirt NORMALLY makes my boobs look bigger. 'Tis annoying.
