this may sound a little mean, but its possible it was just you...now that its working again, and you couldnt find anything wrong with it...maybe youi were just having an off day.

Erm, we have a concert in two days and my flute decided that D,E flat, E, and F were all gonna stop playing. We checked all of the springs and the like and could find nothing wrong. Also, it's just the ones in the staff that don't work. The upper octaves are fine. Is there anybody who's experienced this before and may be able to tell me what the problem is?

So your flute hates you, does it? Simple solution. Kiss it and tell it you love it.

No, that never works...

Maybe you're flute's just junk like mine. There's no fixing that piece of s**t King.

Does your school have a flute you can borrow just for the concert?

My flute did the exact same thing so we brought it into the shop and they fixed it in five minutes. Apparently, the pads were slipping and didn't completely cover the holes anymore.

Well if you all clean your flutes then nothing bad will ever happen to them unless someone steals them I should know it happened before and I stilll haven't found my first flute I got and it was from the school I had to pay it back but got a different flute. But back to what you were saying if you just clean your flute a lot and then nothing should happen to it and then your flute will be very clean. blaugh I hoped that helped sweatdrop

NOT TRUE!!! I keep my flute very clean, but it still messes up. Admittedly my flute is rather cheap and low quality. But cleaning your flute does not mean nothing will happen to it.

take it to the shop and have them look at it. Its best to let professionals look at it. Make sure the shop is reliable before taking it though. There are some shops that do a cheap job and charge you a fortune for it

Give it like a super cleaning. Not just the polishing cloth. The pipe cleaners, the pad papers, weird brush/bristles thing I STILL can't figure out what's for.
don't use key oil though. That stuff sucks
