Allora Lang I don't think Gaara is evil at all. Think about this for a moment. 1) He has Shukaku inside of him; that may be part of it. 2) He has never been hurt or punished; his sand protected him, and everyone was afraid of what Shukaku would do to them if they did. 3) He's never been allowed to sleep because of his demon. If he ever fell asleep then it would take him over. Never sleeping takes a heavy toll on the body and mind. 4) Gaara has been feared by his own brother and sister, abused by his father (how else would you look at it?), and mentally and emotionally crushed by his uncle, the only person that even seemed to love him. 5) People had been sent to kill him since he was six years old; he's twelve when he is first introduced. 6) He has never truly felt loved in his life. I can only deduce from these facts that Gaara, though violent and frightening at first glance, is not so much evil as he is frustrated, scared, and confused. exactly

When gaara kills, all he is doing is reflecting the behavoir the he was shown when he was a child onto the ones surrounding him. If he had been shown something other than fear and hate when he was a kid then he wouldn't be so screwed up now. I think that he is innocent and the ones around are him just as innocent, even though they were total asses towards him. But thats the way humans are, we are conquered by our fears and fear the unknown and unexplaind. and that which we fear naturally we seek to destroy it, with no pity or grief. wolves, shadowy, mysterious and strong. but alive and able to feel pain. They are alive just like us but we kill them, we say that their just animals. but so are we. Some think gaara is evil for killing humans because they feel and have families. But so do wolves and we kill them, so, with that logic, wouldn't that make us evil aswell?

He's just a child (12-15 is still a kid) with a horrible traumatizing past. The violent behavior is the way he learned to deal with all of that.

He's not stupid...and he didn't exactly want to kill the world...he just had blood thrust is all...he couldn't control it….it’s like he needed to kill (just like serial killers) but I don’t think he was “evil”, he just had a uncontrollable monster making him do things that maybe…he might not have wanted to do…that is after he fought Naruto…but before he just hated everyone.

It's like they said in wicked "Are people born wicked, or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?" Gaara is not evil. His actions are all because of his upbrining. All his life he has been hated, so he hates. All his life others have tried to kill him, so he kills. Thats all he knows!

Gaara is a very complicated person. He cannot be classified as good or evil, or anything really. All his life, he has not known anything but the hatred of others. When people hate you, you can't help but hate people. Not to mention the lack of sleep and bloodthirsty demon cause him to be a little unstable. Just like Naruto would pull pranks, Gaara killed people. It was just their way of dealing, or, as it is so often put, 'confirming their existence' (although Naruto's way is a little more acceptable.)

Evil because
1. it is really really cool
2. nobody wanted to be his friend
3. makes for a good story plot
so those are the reasons why Gaara is evil, until naruto defeated him crying

But who made him that way? His sick, twisted father and his wicked, hateful uncle. Nobody should blame Gaara for what they instilled in his mind.
