As the first hints of twilight faded into night, cooling the grass and softening the deepened blue shadows, the wings of the delicate egg lifted upon the evening breeze as if in answer to an unheard melody. Glistening like silver the moonlight's graceful pattern shone comfortingly upon the egg - and as though the small thing was aware of this gentle touch, it shivered slightly, and then nestled calmly once more.

While the egg nestled in the cool depths of the shadow of the large tree, the silence of the world at rest seemed to grow larger. The only real sounds were the soft whispers of the egg's silken wings and the grass and leaves rustling as nighttime gusts of wind picked up once every few moments.

Throughout the night the moon disappeared several times behind the cloudcover and brought near full darkness to the gardens. At those times with only the stars to illuminate the world the egg felt safe and at peace; untroubled and calmly connected to this lovely place.

Time passed on slowly, and the egg quietly awaited the early morning crisp which came with the dawn. Within the shadows of the tree, its colors blending with the night hues and the leafy shade the egg finally slept.

'I must be brave!' thought Caer as she looked at Moonshadow's silent and dark garden. Slowly, she descended upon the mists of the night, the gentle rustle of her feet meeting the grass dimmed by the silence.

She stood quietly under the tree, looking at the bright moon. She felt awkwardly familiar and comfortable in this place, eventhough as a Llithe, this should not be so. Very gently, she leaned over the Whisperer's egg and waryingly held out her hand to touch it, but she hesitated and withdrew her hand. Suddenly she remembered the Promise prince and princess and an overwhelming sense of loss enveloped her.

And without saying anything, Caer drifted away thoughtfully from the arms of the night into the warmth of the Mirror Lake garden.

The winds shifted in the early morning dawn.. and although it was quite apparently day, the garden was filled with purple shadows and obscured with a hazy cloudy cover; a soft wet cold mist that permeated the grassy floor and traveled throughout the leafy garden. At times the mist moved seemingly of its own accord, lazily reaching across the silent depths of the small glassy pond, which lay beneath the tree, like an icey steam; tendrils of this fog curled about tender stalks of flowers and dewy blades of grass; filmy vapors appeared like shadows shifting in darkened patterns and turned the sun's light rays into a cobalt dapple, almost like tiny blue stars in conrast with the deep shadows.

In a few areas the mist gathered particularly... soft depressions in the grass in the shape of a delicately small foot. Someone had visited... the mist would swirl about the impressions in the firm earth and then disperse once more into the shadows, but almost always seemed to return to the footprints... to investigate.

The egg sat silently feeling a strange tingle of anticipation reverberate throughout its shell. The footsteps which had sounded upon the air... the warmth of the presence. They were gone now, but there had been a moment when the egg had seemed almost to silently sigh with recognition and the shadows had receded a bit further - had seemed to beckon, welcome even. A dark thought glittered, and the air was colder for a moment. The shadows grew deeper, the light weaker, and the mists grew still in that one breath of time.

The mind within the fragile egg, not quite aware of her surroundings, wondered what the presence could mean. The mists gathered again to her in the gathering gloom, swirling with her own drowsy and half-formed thoughts.
