Request to join a coven. If they accept you, you join as a dedicant and study and practice with them... and when you are ready you are initiated into the religion, and assume the title "Wiccan"
Loads of people argue you can be Wiccan if you're self initiated, but technically thats not possible. Wiccan is a orthopraxtic religion (spelling) as opposed to orthodox. You must be initiated to fully learn everything about it. A "mystery" religion some people call it. Outer court information is available to anybody including dedicants, inner court information to members of the clergy only. Does that answer you're question, or is there anything else you'd like to know?

I thought that there was no such thing as "Black magick" or "White Magick". Magick dosen't have a color. It is just that one is stronger than the other. But I have a question for you. How does one start a coven?

Seven Jeans I thought that there was no such thing as "Black magick" or "White Magick". Magick dosen't have a color. It is just that one is stronger than the other. But I have a question for you. How does one start a coven? Personally, I don't believe there is such a thing as black or white magic either... To the best of my knowledge: Circle: Defined area of space, with set up boundries etc etc for ritual, one of more people. Coven: Group of people, probably sworn in in some way, who might meet to debate, carry out activities, hold circles etc Would that make sense? So you get a group of like minded people together and start a group. If you are looking to join a Wiccan coven, you'll need to be yourself initiated, and join up with a group of initiates, or else join a lineaged coven and they may initiate you if they see fit. If is other forms of witchcraft, it'll depend on any requirements you may have, or you could just form an ecclectic group and see what happens. There is a good book on forming covens or groups, but the name escapes me now.... I'll see if I can find it again

Ms Miranda Since I guess some one is answering questions here.
How would one find a coven? ( Just tips would be very helpful) Depends where you live. Possibly the staff in your local estoric/pagan/alternitive health shop could point you in the right direction. Sometimes covens are very much out in the open, and other times harder to find. Try www.witchvox.com either, they are supposed to be one of the most complete listings of pagan groups. If you know whether you want to join a Wiccan coven, an Ecclectic coven, or whichever you prefer, that will probably make your search a bit easier. If you are looking to join a Wiccan coven, check their lineage and so on first, to save yourself time. They will probably allow you to join preliminarily as a visitor or dedicant, to see if you really gel with the group. Don't forget just because someone is (or is claiming to be) the person you are looking for does not make them harmless. If you are meeting someone for the first time, go for a public place, and tell someone where you are, and when you'll be back. All the usual basic cop-on stuff

C e r u l e a n Hey there, I got a couple of questions. What is/are the difference(s) between Wicca and Pagan and why? Hiya! paganism is an umbrella term today used for all alternative or indigenous religions or belief systems. Originally the word came from latin, meaning country people. Wicca is a religion created in the first half of the 20th century by Gerald Gardener. A Wiccan could be described as being a Pagan, but not all Pagans are Wiccan. Indeed not even most of them... Likewise, wicca and witchcraft are not interchangeable terms either, which is a common mistake for new comers. Hope that helps!
