Cometh The Inquisitor Lethkhar Another one bites the dust... Now, now. We accept that you are an ardent atheist and you hold a rather low view of christianity, but we do ask you to be polite. What are you talking about?

Cometh The Inquisitor Lethkhar What are you talking about? Your post. comments like that are rude and unnecessary. What? First of all, I am not an "ardent atheist". I am a weak atheist to the Abrahamic God. Second of all, which comment of mine was "rude and unnecessary"? Another one bites the dust? Not rude at all. At least, it wasn't intended to be. If you people are allowed to say things like "God exists, whether you believe in Him or not." and "I'm merely trying to save you from eternal damnation.", I feel that it is my right to say "Another one bites the dust" when someone declares that they've decided to join a cult.

Haha! Not a cult, Lethkhar... It's somethingg I have believed in my entire life just never actually knew what it wass about or how to get it... No, Im not joining a cult... Im just taking another step in my faith...
And he has a point, Cometh The Inquisitor... He has a rightt to say that... It's something he believes... If we're allowed to say what we believe then why shouldn't he be? Another thing, I dont find thatt comment rude... I guess it just depends on how you take it...

Actually, Christianity is by definition a cult. Merriam-Webster's Dictionary Main Entry: cult Pronunciation: 'k< Function: noun Usage: often attributive Etymology: French & Latin; French culte, from Latin cultus care, adoration, from colere to cultivate -- more at WHEEL 1 : formal religious veneration : WORSHIP 2 : a system of religious beliefs and ritual; also : its body of adherents 3 : a religion regarded as unorthodox or spurious; also : its body of adherents 4 : a system for the cure of disease based on dogma set forth by its promulgator 5 a : great devotion to a person, idea, object, movement, or work (as a film or book); especially : such devotion regarded as a literary or intellectual fad b : the object of such devotion c : a usually small group of people characterized by such devotion Bet you didn't know that, did you? wink I'm glad you didn't take offense to my comment. It wasn't intended to be offensive and I'm sorry if anyone was hurt by it. So what exactly do you mean by "speaking in tongues"? Do you talk in Hebrew or what? Or is it like that thing in the Exorcist where she talks backwards?

Lethkhar What? First of all, I am not an "ardent atheist". I am a weak atheist to the Abrahamic God. My mistake then. Sorry. Quote: Second of all, which comment of mine was "rude and unnecessary"? Stating your beliefs (eg. 'God does not exist.' or 'Eternal damnation does not exist.') is a far cry from making derisive remarks about someone converting to christianity. And yes, it's a cult. Not my problem that false religions have given that word such a bad connotation.

If this is true, then I would assume that it is equally offensive to say something like,"What a shame your soul is going to burn." After all, that is pretty much the same as,"What a shame you're going to waste the rest of your life going to a boring sermon for a few hours every Sunday.", right?

Lethkhar So what exactly do you mean by "speaking in tongues"? Do you talk in Hebrew or what? Or is it like that thing in the Exorcist where she talks backwards? Normally, the idea behind speaking in tongues, is that one is moved by the Holy Spirit to speak in languages either unknown to the speaker (eg. a man speaking in chinese when he has never learned it) or in 'mystical' languages (a common appellation would be that they are speaking the language of the angels). Wikipedia's entry on Glossolalia (tongues)An site about specifically Christian Glossolalia

Lethkhar Cool. Did you catch the point? Yep. That is, if your point was 'making cheap attempts at immitating something automatically prooves it wrong'. I mean, really, the fact that you can sit here and straw-man tongues in no way means that all it's practitioners are making it up. Oh, and, for the record, I do agree that, for the most part, the people talking in tongues are just plain crazy.
