"You may pass..." croaked the ghoul. It bowed, wisps of its presence fluttering behind it like a moth-eaten curtain, and disappeared.

*Chris shivered at the eerie sound of the ghoul's departure and after a few moments of calming himself continued down the hallway. Humming under his breath seemed a good way to ease some of the anxiety he was feeling but he was nervous it might attract another ghoul so he did not give into his thoughts of cheering himself up.

He had come here seeking adventure and he had found it. Somehow going into a place that was haunted seemed a better idea when he wasnt actually facing his fear. After the initial thrill of seeing his first ghoul now all he wanted to do was get out of here. He did feel alive yes but the cold sweats and faint sick feeling seemed to overpower the adreneline.*

Veruvi shrank back from the sound of the voice. It seemed to float over. She tried to reply to the question and it came out as a squeak, "I...I think so..." The elf's hands clung tightly to her skirts once more ready to help pick up the trailing cloth and make a run for it if the speaker was a ghost, or a troll, or a big bad thing with sharp teeth and glowy green (or red) eyes.

She called back, her voice shaking, "A-are you a gh-ghost?" Veruvi shuddered at the word.

"A ghost? No~! I'm too colorful to be a ghost!" Kailey grinned a bit. That person sounded just as scared and creeped out by this place as he was, so there was no way she could be something bad.

He continued to run forward, and he could make out Veruvi's figure better. He could see the details better now, so he knew she was probably there and not his mind going crazy. He waved to her.

"Hey Princess! See! Not a ghost!"

The ghoul shudders once, twice, and then whips away. It circles her curiously, poking its cracked claws into her back and her hair. The air crackles as it frosts, and every puff of breath from the ghoul smells of sulfur.

It slows its inspection and waves its rot-wasted hand-- the frost curls in on itself delicately until it has a form: a book. The lights in the hallway glow with a gentle sheen of blue.

Softly, it whispers:

"Moutains will crumble..." sighed the ghoul, gingerly nudging the page to turn. The corner pops and the aged leaf reveals another page. He holds out the picture to the young girl and pulls it back to his chest. "Temples will fall... noooo man can survive," he clicked and drawled, emphasizing the "no."

He sighed again, tired after such a long rest, and raspily finished: "its endless call... What is it?"

Perplexed at what he read, he adjusts the book and examines the scripture. The ghoul watches Eden expectantly.

Eden gets scared when seeing in front of her a ghoul, this strange being seems to take out a book , this every time is easily frightened. When the ghoul begins to read, its voice is low and cavernous, and a chill for all her thorn feels Eden.

When it finishes the of reading note that it was a riddle and she begins to think in solution, "Moutains will crumble... Temples will fall... no man can survive... its endless call... mmmmm" He finds family, it is very difficult, but she believes that she was read something in some of the big books of the library. " Mmmmmmmmm... It can be ... the time anything survives the time and everything finishes less the time" she says this last as reciting something read previously

[[ooc: since nobody replied about the thing i'll just go with one ghoul at a time and continue the dice roll from sini's post~ XD]]

The elf child could barely make out the figure emerging from the darkness and it sure was right. Ghosts were supposed to be a horrible ash gray that made you sick to your stomach and have chains that jingle (not a jingle bell jingle but more of a booooooo jingle). This unknown person was dressed up colorfully and it was certainly a welcome relief in the never ending darkness.

Veruvi let out a sigh in relief, but just as Kailey neared she saw something else leer up from behind him. She let out a squeak of fright and made a quick move forward in hopes of warning her new-found friend, "W-watch out!"

The book snaps shut immediately and the ghoul vanishes as all the lights in the room go out. All that's left is a ancient chill and a strange wind that unsettles Eden's hair.

Dean relaxed. He wasn't bumping into anything. He could handle this game. Filling up with his usual content confidence, and perhaps a litle smug, he continued through the halls. Everything was still spooky, but now his guard was down and he was at ease. This wasn't frightening at all.

((Could someone RP the ghoul? :3))

Wait... Something looked like it was coming up ahead. Dean squinted, his confidence ebbing a little. Tail swishing, he said "Who's there?' as he looked into the gloom. Probably just another kid. Yeah. There was nothing to worry about! Nothing at all! Anyway, even if it was something, it wasn't a REAL ghoul. If he just remembered that, he should be fine.

Kailey squeaked in surprise when the ghoul had grabbed him from behind. He had been quick to look over his shoulder and wished that he hadn't gotten a look at the creepy thing.

It had begun to whisper, although a bit on the loud side, so that Veruvi could hear as well.

"Dare if you open... Open if you dare..."

Kailey had begun to shiver as the rotting hand began to tighten its cold grip on his shoulder.

"Game that scares little kids, exept those whose ages are in the mids..."
Part of the ghoul's being began to snake its way by Veruvi as it continued on with its riddle.

"Its like spin the bottle, exept it goes over full throttle. In this game, your wish is my command. What I do is in your hand; some times it's not fair."The ghoul paused before ending the riddle with... "This game is called...?"

Kailey blinked in surprise as he began to try to figure out what the thing was talking about it. It was... a game? A game that had to do with... dares?

He felt as if the answer was right on the tip of his toungue. "Um... Dare! Something Dare!" He looked over at Veruvi for help. "It's got to be something like that!"

This was no time to panic! Veruvi thought hard, the question asked was definitely a riddle. It didn't seem to be too tricky and the riddle tugged at her. It sounded so...familiar.

"Um... Dare! Something Dare!" The wizard blurted.

Ah!

The lightbulb in her head lit up, "Truth! It's Truth or Dare!" There had been an excerpt in their school textbook that she had read recently about a kid playing the game and getting into all sorts of trouble. Now she was glad she had read that short story.

The ghoul released it's hold on Kailey's shoulder and stopped it's advance towards Veruvi. It gave a creepy cackle and vanished in a swirl of smoke.

Kailey let out a sigh of relief when he saw that the ghoul had disapeared. He only hoped that he didn't run into many more of them...

"Thanks! I thought it was going to get me for a moment." He glanced around for a moment and noticed that they were headed toward a dead end.

"Looks like we aren't headed in the right direction... Why don't we stick together? That way, at least if we get lost... We won't be alone." He smiled and then realized that he hadn't introduced himself to the little elven princess.

"I'm Kailey, by the way."

Veruvi nodded vigorously in reply to Kailey's suggestion. It was definitely a good idea. She didn't want to be alone walking around here...in the dark...with ghosts...The girl shuddered at the thought.

"Kailey..." she repeated, commiting the name to memory. She had read once that this method was a handy way to remember short phrases or names. Well, it was in one of the science textbooks as a sidenote. The elf child hoped that the method would prove true in this case. Oop. She better not forget to introduce herself too.

"I'm Veruvi...nice to meet you..."

"Nice to meet you!" He grinned as he got a closer look at her costume. It looked cute, and, for a brief moment, he wondered whether it'd been made or store bought.

"Cute costume." He commented as he walked. He couldn't help but glance at the seems and the details.

It wasn't until after he'd let out a startled cry at the reappearance of a ghoul that he realized that maybe he ought to be paying more attention to where they were going rather than the rather tiny details on his companion's costume.

PostPosted: Sat Dec 02, 2006 11:31 am

The elvan child smiled back at his compliment of her costume. "Thankies Kailey!" She piped up. The dress had been a rare gift to be worn on special occasions. Halloween seemed like a good place to put it to use as well since the dress had always summoned up princess imageries in her mind.

Kailey's sudden cry brought her out of her reverie. "Uwaa?" She blinked in surprise and turned around to see the source of Kailey's surprise.

Uhoh. I-It's another one...

In her own surprise, Veruvi had taken a step back, her face turning slightly pale at the ghoul's sighting. This hallway must be haunted!!

The pale figure hovered over the two and gave a low moan. A slip of paper materialized into its hand and it began reading off of it in over dramatized tones.

"Lightteeeeeeeeeeeerrrrr than what I am made of!" the ghoul recited, enunciating each word and making ridiculous hand motions.

"More of meeeeeeeeee is hiddennnn than is seeeeeeeeeen~" It stopped and looked up expectantly as if waiting for an applause at its marvelous act. Finding none, he sighed unhappily. Really now, these children couldn't possibly understand my awesomeness.

Veruvi blinked in surprise from the over-dramatized riddle. This riddle seemed harder than the first. Or was it just the way it was said that threw her off?

What could be lighter than a ghost? She thought hard, but at the moment, no ideas came to her head. Veruvi looked at Kailey for help. Now that she thought about it...what would happen if they couldn't answer it correctly? She shuddered at the various horrid possibilities that spouted into her mind. Guuu...too many ghost stories...
