I love H. P. Lovecraft. Stories like The Colour out of Space, and The Dunwich Horror are some of my favorites. My real life name is a character in one of his books! I'm apparently a high priestess in the church of Dagon (I am secretly a girl in the not internet world).

I've been reading a good deal of stephen king lately since someone lent me a ton of collections of short stories. I must say I am not that impressed. Some of them are good, and he's pretty good at creating characters, but his idea of scary is just... Eh. Plus he sure likes to take the easy way out a LOT and just write stories about other writers (who also write horror books, who ALSO live in Maine). I can't believe The Lawnmower Man was even dumber than the movie, and the movie had early 90's cyberspace in it!

But, uh... oh dear I don't want to just be negative here. There were some stories I really enjoyed like Jerusalem's Lot was very good, as was Graveyeard Shift. 1408 was also a very good read. Probably a ton better than the movie I'd wager! There aren't very many horror writers I like. It's probably as hard to find good horror authors as it is to find good fantasy or sci fi authors.

I'm interested in trying the works of others, as well as reading more of the classics. I read Mary Shelly's Frankenstein once as a child, but I don't remember much about it, so I think it's time for a reread. Someday I hope to finish Bram Stoker's Dracula. It was pretty interesting.

I wish I knew more authors.
