Alex cried out in pain, suffering from the flames she shot above her, the embers falling around her, burning her. Finally she stopped screaming, and the fire died down to ashes and she fell lax to the floor. She heard NightShade laughing in her head as she fell uncontious to the floor, her last words before she passed out were. " Stay...safe." and then all went black.

Back in his office, NightShade smiled. She was growing weaker, making him stronger. "Who knew the appearance of the Soran would cause her to weaken so emencly? And who knew Jack would be the one weakness to her. At the mention of his name she shrivled up in fear for his life...that will come in handy soon." He smiled.

"Sir...Lord NightShade." Came a raspy voice from the darkened shadow in the corner of the room. "This better be important to summon me here from the depths of hell." He said. NightShade turned and bowed.

"King Jammal! I have found the astra...the woman to be your queen..."

"I don't want her to be my queen you louse!" Jammal cried. "I want her power, her body, HER." he said. He walked from the shadows, NightShade tried not to gaze up at his master, but his mortality caused his eyes to gaze upward. His master hid himself well, his dark shadow cloak covering every inch of his master's body, other then his fingers, which were not fingers at all; they were bones.

"My King...am i hearing correctly?" he stammered, he was filled in fear at the sight of the bones. His master was in need of food, and he didn't want to be on the menu.

"I have heard your thoughts NightShade...Ventra Spark has told me everything you have planned." Jammal said. He lifted his bony arm up infront of his shadowed face. "And she didn't even give me flesh." NightShade coughed.

He...He ate Ventra! He ate Ms.Spark! he thought in fear. She was more powerful then i was...and his flesh and blood have not returened....no wonder he needs the Astra...

"NightShade, I have learned you plan to become the Apadon yourself. To become stronger then me and take over my place..." Jammal continued. He placed his fingers under NightShade's chin. "That is called mutany...traitorious." he rasped. "I should kill you now..."

"Oh sire please dont kill me! I know such information on the astra that you're eyes would boggle...well if you had eyes your majesty...." he stammered. He didn't want to die.

"Well then, i'll spare you till if find this Astra and absorb her for myself..." Jammal started for the door, his form floating above the floor as if on air.

"She is with the Soran." NightShade spat quickly. Jammal turned abruptly and glared at NightShade, his yellow eyes now clearly visible.

"What?! Didn't you tell me you killed him!"

"That was the other astra! The Soran has found a new host...and i don't know who he is...but i know the Astra's weakness. Her mortal weakness...she doesn't know how to controle her powers yet...so she can't become the astra till the wolfe moon..." NightShade said. Jammal glared at the poor looking demon, and an invisible smile filled his face.

"Does she now...a weakness, and powerless...and the Soran, after made powerless by her on the wolfe moon makes for a delisious dessert" His eyes disappeared. "Thank you NightShade...you have served well, I'll reward you by letting you keep your life." And with that, Jammal disappeared into the shadows to find a dark hiding place...the auditorium loft.

Jodi stood up from the wall and looked at Alex. She had passed out, and still lay in Soran's arms. "Will she be ok?" Jodi asked walking slowly towards them both. Jodi waved her hand at the open window and a branch came in to the room. Jodi plucked a few Peppermint leaves, Yarrow flowers, and elder flowers.

The branch went back outside while she went to the sink. Grabbing a mug from the counter she turned the water as hot as she could get it. Once it was filled she slowly adding the leaves, and flowers. Jodi went to a far Cupboard, and searched. It took checking two more Cupboards to find what she was looking for.

Going over to the mug she had sat next to the sink she added 1 drop of dried lemon. Heading over to Alex and Soran, Jodi had a sad smile "I don't know if this will help, but it's worth a try." Jodi set the full mug, and empty mug, and strainer on the table closest to one of the beds.

(( Sorry I haven't been around much. I should be back up to speed mid-December. For now I'm on Hiatus.))

Soran stood back as Alex burned herself, his expression unreadable, until finally the flames had calmed. Then he approached her, standing over her unconcious body. He looked down at her gently, but didn't bend down to comfort her. Sleep was her best comfort for the moment.

Something in the air shifted, unnoticed by all but the surreal man. His head snapped upward, his usually serene face suddenly twisting into a dark scowl of disgust, the expression immediately and momentarily transforming into a frightening look of hatred. He spun around, glaring at the door, his whole body tense. Seeing that no one stood in the doorway, and seeming to have decided taht wahtever he had just sensed was gone, the man allowed himself to relax, the mask of indifference immediately returning to his beautiful features.

"They are getting impatient." He murmurred softly, more to himself than Jodi.

He absently accepted the drink from Jodi, setting it on the bedside table, knowing that it would be useless. With a quiet, easy power of one used to ruling, he commanded. "Go to your friend Takaho and keep an eye on him. Make sure he doesn't provoke the demons and cause the Astra to come to his defense. His magic is pure and can affect demons, but not all of them, and the more trouble the rash boy gets himself into the less time the Astra will have to heal."

Jodi heard Soran's words, She nodded her head and she teleported out of the Nurse's Office to look for Takaho.

Alex didnt sleep soundly, she started to get another dream and she tossed and turned violently.

"Where is she?" said an unfamiliar voice. Alex looked up and noticed she was in the auditorium. She sat in one of the chairs in the back as she looked around. "NightShade where is the girl!" She looked to the stage and saw the most horrid thing she had ever seen, almost a skelington...but worse, the organs of the once human, now demon man were pulsing, gushing with bodily fluids in the ivory color ribcage, his bright yellow eyes gazed mercilessly down at her as she looked horrified back at him.

"She is there my lord Jammal." she heard NightShade say, it was close, and she was to frightened to move when he wrapped his arms around her. "She is here my Lord King Jammal." the corps called Jammal smiled an almost invisible smile, with no lips it was difficult for Alex to see how she knew he was smiling, maybe it was from the change in his eyes, or the light that resided there.

Jammal floated down the steps of the stage and hovered over to her, his arms reached out to her. "Flesh and blood! Must be blood! Must be fresh! Feed me!" he cried as NightShade held her tight. Jammal was only a few feet away from them when suddenly, Soran jumped out of no where and was grabbed by Jammal.

"Run! Run Astra!" Soran called, Alex couldnt' move, NightShade's grip was to strong, and she stood there and watched in terror as Jammal started to drain the glowing blue fire energy from Soran, his beautiful face crying in pain and suffering, his eyes filled with horror. And to Alex's terror, she watched as Soran became Jack. He fell burnt to the ground, his face in the same dead empty horrified look that Soran had just worn, and his body all mingled and limp. But what really horrified Alex was what Jammal looked like now.

She SCREAMED.

Alex woke up with a start on the floor of the nurses room, she didn't see Soran, she didn't care, she woke up and instantly started sobbing again. She couldn't take these nightmares...couldn't handle the faces she saw, the people who died...

SHE COULDN'T STAND TO WATCH JACK DIE!

Jodi teleported into the nurse's Office. "Alex!" Jodi went to her sobbing friend. "I was in my dorm and the door between our rooms was open. I went to close it, but..." Jodi held out the note she found. "Nothing was in your room all your stuff is gone. All I found was this note pined to the door, and I can't understand it."

Alex's head was spinning. She heard what Jodi said, but she couldn't understand it. The vision of Jammal after he ate Jack and Soran...was so disgusting. She couldn't stand it.

"wHAT?" Then what Jodi said hit her like a ton of bricks. "The note? Let me see! The book...where did it go?" The translation key was in the book...and so was her whole life...She started to gasp, trying to get air, breathing grew harder and harder, she wanted to throw up...the visions were planted in her brain. She took her hand to the necklace that was around her neck and held it in her fingers. "What.....is..happening....to me" she gasped and wheezed.

Soran stood over Alex as she slept, watching her. She began to toss in her sleep. The man cocked his head, sensing a mental attack. Was it possible that she was just dreaming? When her chest began to heave and she clutched at the sheets, he knew she was being attacked. The dark magic, now that he had found it, was heavy in the air. He reached to his pouch, but before he could ward off the spell, it was broken. She sat up with a terrified scream. And then out of nowhere Jodi reappeared, getting her even more riled up. Soran stepped in, brushing Jodi aside with casual authority and touching his fingertips to the Astra's cheeks, sending a small calming spell into her skin. He sat beside her on the bed, his voice soft and gentle as he commanded, "Tell me what you saw."

Alex was calmed a little by Soran's touch, and she stopped weasing, but she still breathed heavily.

"Jammal...a monster...he was like...a corpse..." she looked up at Soran and suddenly got confused. "When did you get here? Where is Jack?" she shook her head and sighed. "No...Soran, it was terrible. NightShade brought me to this Jammal, and he was going to...absorbe me i guess, but you jumped infront of me. You told me to run, but...i couldn't move, NightShade held me to tightly.

"Then as you were being absorbed, you turned into Jack...and he was absorbed, i couldn't do anything,....i couldn't stop him...and then you both disapeared...and what Jammal was was terrible. I think he started out as a skeleton...then after you two disapeared, he was...half flesh, half corpse, the smell was so vile, and i could see his veins, his organs, his black heart pulsing...

"I couldn't get away, he started for me and i screamed....then I wake up and Jodi tells me my room is empty...everything is gone...i have a feeling they have wiped me off of the earth. What am i to do? Where is the book?"

she started to softly cry as she calmed down. She couldn't handle so much at once, why was she cursed with this astra thing? Why couldnt' her mother be the astra? why her? why not some one else?

"God i need so much help now..."

Soran's face went dark at the mention of Jammal's name, but, as always, he kept his cool. The best way to comfort the distraught girl was to reason with her. "Astra, do not take them seriously. They cannot touch me, or your Jack. He is safe." Mostly, he thought, but didn't bother adding it. No need to frighten the Astra. He breifly placed his handson her hips and pulled her closer to him. "Let me tell you a secret." He murmurred, leaning closer to her in a conspiring fashion. He spoke quietly to her, as though afraid they'd be overheard. "If you refuse to believe in the demons, they don't exist." He smiled gently. "The more you allow yourself to fear them, the more powerful they become."

As Soran pulled her closer to him, Alex let out a soft surprized involentary cry, she shut her eyes as to calm herself, to erase the visions of the demons.

"Let me tell you a secret." He murmurred, leaning closer to her in a conspiring fashion. "If you refuse to believe in the demons, they don't exist." Alex looked up shocked into his beautiful face as he smiled gently. "The more you allow yourself to fear them, the more powerful they become."

She couldn't believe how easy it was for him to say that...here she was fearing these monsters for all her life, rebeling against them as a way to keep herself alive, and here he says to ignore them and they'll disapear.

Alex looked over to Jodi standing a few feet away, her face almost a little hint of concern remaining as he looked down at her. Alex didn't know what to believe any more, sarcasme was all she had left.

"So just ignore them and they'll go away?" she whispered, her tone a little harsh, harsher then she wanted. "Do you think i havn't tried?" I didn't mean it that way! " i hav elived in fear of these creatures for all my life! 17 years! i have been kept in a pen, so many years i have slept in my bed, pretending i was the astra, that the teachers weren't demons, that my life wasn't in danger day after day. I became the rebelious student to give myself something to turn my mind from the horror that each day brought!" she cried out, almost screamed. "And now you're telling me just to pretend they dont exist?I can't believe you!" Please don't take it like that Soran...i didn't mean it so harshly...

Alex wanted to cry, but her eyes were so dry...she just wanted to faint again, but her body wouldn't listen. She slowly pulled from Soran's grasp and leaned against the bed as she sat still as a statue. Her heart didn't want to be mean to Soran...after all, he was supposidly the same person as Jack right? possessing his body...taking over her loved one. If Jack were there, If Jack were the one who said these things...maybe she would have listened...maybe she would believe it. But she just barly knew anything about Soran, didn't know a thing about him, he just pops out of nowhere and tells her what to do, he hasn't lived through what she had...and she hated being bossed around.

She sat there in complete silence, still as she could, looking past Jodi and Soran, to the door. It was then she saw a shadow quickly fly past the door frame...she caught her breath. She felt her heart beat quicker then it already was, as she slowly lifted her hand to the door and pointed.

"Something just...flew past...i don't know what it was..."

Soran, as usual, sat calmly as she bellowed her fury in his face. But the underlying message of her words - that he had no clue what she was going through - was like a slap to the face. He winced and tore his eyes from her, immediately angry at himself for doing so. He was supposed to be calm, always the voice of reason. He couldn't let her teenaged angst get to him. He was above that.

He was above that now.

It took him a moment to recover, but when he spoke again, his voice was calm and collected as ever. "They won't just 'go away', no. But they wouldn't have nearly as much power over you if you didn't allow yourself to be intimidated by them."

She pointed to the doorway behind him and he immediately leapt to his feet, whirling to face the door as he reached for the pouch on his hip.

Alex was so frightend by the shadow she didn't fully hear Soran's words. She slowly went to a crouch and hid behind the endtable that was missplaced between the two cots.

"Soran...What is it?" she asked as she slowly got to her feet. The shadow flashed past the door once again, causing Alex to cried out briefly and softly.

"That can't be NightShade...he doesn't scare you before he reviels him self...its some one else..." she whispered. Her heart was throbbing, fear collided with the notion of being brave as she started to walk toward Soran. "Who is-" The shadow flew past again, and the next thing she knew, the whole room was in darkness...the lights were out, the sun from the sky was gone, like they were trapped in a spell of darkness.

"Soran? Jodi? Where are you?" she quietly called. She backed into the cot and slowly sat down, she pressed her back against the wall and sat there, and waited for someone to answer, for some one to turn the lights back on.

'Try not to be frightened' she kept thinking to herself. 'Try to ignore it...it's not there, its sun light out, birds are chirping...' she thought.

"Its not happening, it is a bright day..." she whispered as she closed her eyes. "Soran..."

Jodi felt something go pasted her. She heard Alex say something about a shadow going past the door, and then she felt it again, but this time it entered the room. the lights had gone off, and the room became pitch black. Jodi could hear Alex calling for Soran and herself. Jodi closed her eyes and listened to Alex's voice and teleported to her. she felt one of the cots next to her and sat down, she knew she got to the right person. "I'm right here Alex don't worry once we find Soran I'll get us out of here."

Alex felt Jodi next to her and instictivly like the frightened girl she was, took her best friends hand. "I am not losing you or Soran...Jake or Takaho...i am going to beat this thing..." she wispered bravly...then the lights flickered shortly only to die again, a soft chuckle was heard , and it was close to her. "If i could get the corage to get up and battle with it." she said softly.
