Does age really matter that much? I'm actually surprised you're about a year older than me.

Will you look at that!? That means I'm older than Lady Lunar cuz I had already graduated by the time SotN came out. And to think that meowmistress was about 8 back then. Hey Lunar! I got lots of respect for ya!
Anyways, after trying out CV 2 I loved the series cuz that was my first. I had no idea there was a game prior to that and when I played it, I hated it. I'm kinda with Lady Lunar on that cuz she said she didn't want to bother. After I lost my cross sub-weapon and 3rd roman numeral cuz a stupid medusa dropped a dagger while I was killing it in mid-air, I just stopped. And to think that I probably could have defeated Death so well armed. After that, no matter how many times I went for it, I never got to Death with a cross again.
Thank goodness the games that were released afterwards became better or I would have never touched a CV game in my life. I still love CV2 and it's my all time favorite.
BTW, does anyone know in which game did the tune bloody tears made its debut? I think it was on the second game (NES) but I'm not sure. I love how the makers of DoS made it reappear there.

I want to say "Bloody Tears" was on Simon's Quest first... but I can't remember if Simon's Quest came out before or after Haunted Castle... 'cause I think "Bloody Tears" was on that too (if I remember something I read at the Castlevania Dungeon right...)

But anyway, my first CV experience was with the original NES game... which in my youth I was absolutely horrible at, but I thought it was very interesting.... When I played Simon's Quest, though, that became the first CV game I actually bought... and it was all over from there. ^^ The music, the story, the characters, the challenges, and so on.... yeah, I just kept getting more and more hooked as time went on.

Yes! Yes it matters' a Lot! (Sighs) Cuz currently I'm in a KH RP and playing Riku... and the person playing Sora? Acts like she's 12 and plays Sora like he's 10... I'm scared that when I bring my poor Riku into play with her Sora he'll need a crowbar just to get the kid off him. Clutching dependency, it's not just for romantic relationships anymore.

It's gameplay, it's story, the characters, everything of it.

Actually, there was another part of me getting into CV that I almost completely forgot about. It was either while I was playing the original NES game or Simon's Quest, but during one of those times there was this vaguely "Monster/Comedy" film out around the same time called "The Monster Squad".

In retrospect, it's not that great of a film, and it's filled with late-'80s era middle-school comedy, but it was mildly amusing for its time... plus it was the only movie I'd seen at the time that had several famous monsters that have been featured in CV, like Frankenstein's Creation, a werewolf, a fish-man, vampire ladies... and of course Dracula.

Monsters.

Also, Super Castlevania IV for letting you whip from ring to ring. I always thought that was bad a** when I was a kid.
