But what about this verse:
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths but only what is helpful for building other up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (Ephesians 4:29)
I don't really think cursing helps other people. For me, whenever I see curse words, I try to block them out immediately because I never want to have that habit of saying them. My brothers curse and occasionally my dad, and I don't want to pick that up. It just doesn't really help other people; in fact, it can harm them a lot, especially when you are directing it at them.
I personally don't think it is biblical, and I pray everyday for God to cleanse my mind of all the bad things I see and hear. That is why I love being a part of Christian guilds. they are one place I know that I won't be tempted as much.

I pretty much hate cussing and just cringe when I hear others doing it (pretty much all the time stressed ). If I do happen to cuss (which is extremely rare) because of a bad situation, bad day or what-not, my initial reaction is to just say it to myself so others won't hear me. In other words, it's only between me and God and I'm just honestly letting Him know how I feel at the time.

Define "unwholesome" see i can (like i mentioned before) cut someone up and make them feel like crap with any words i chose. some people would consider the words a**l Sex to be unwholesome personaly i don't so i say them. the bible leaves us with alot of room for interpretation. any word used correctly can make someone feel better. ofcourse ever since the FCC banned things from the radio and television people have started to think they were wrong.

postage-paid My belief is that we shouldn't say or do anything we wouldn't do if Jesus was standing right next to us. You wouldn't curse in front of Him, so you shouldn't use such language in everyday life. I have a problem with swearing. It's something I've prayed about and definitely need to work on in my life. I think thats a good way to think about it. I also think that if you wouldn't cuss in front of Jesus, you wouldn't cuss ever, because he is always watching you. mrgreen

Why would you feel like you want to cuss? I know you might enjoy it, but that doesn't mean that the people around you enjoy it. I agree with the verse that you shouldn't let anything derogitory come out of your mouth, because you could offend somebody, even if they don't show it in front of you. I think you should be a little more considerate about the people around you.

I use whichever words I need to to express how I feel, and if that means saying that something is f***ed up past all f***ing belief, then so be it.
People who get offended easily need to lighten up. Seriously. Chill.the.f***.out.

Please don't use curse words in our forum, we'd greatly appreciate it. Euphemisms are fine though.

German words sound brutal enough to make up for a curse to me... but I do curse often... and me hanging out at the gun range doesn't help the fact.

Ah but I do generally try to keep from cursing in fromt of ladies and children... it isn't proper... I was raised that a man can curse and he can lay into people but not in front of women or children.
