Karen ran to into the room and saw her old friend, Preston Jenkins, the old sea captain. He was a tall, imposing man, with a long, full, white beard and head of heir, and with a deeply tan face, a clear indicator of his Cornwell sailor ancestory.
His daemon, a large, wise looking giant tortoise slowly moved her head toward Kaimi and butted his head, and Kaimi affectionatily butted back. Preston smiled at Karen but immediately frowned when he saw her expression

Karen, what is it?

Archibold Roussel's man-servant, the one from the church? He is on the ship!

The Capitan's eyes narrowed and the Tortoise walked slowly forward. He went to the voice pipe and commanded all hands to the deck to remove the stow-away

What is happening Karen? This isn't supposed to be a pleasure cruise, but the church is involved. What are getting yourself into girl?!

Karen nodded her head. She needed to explain her situation, but she was dreading it. Suddenly everyone in this room was in danger. She felt the steady warm breathing of Kaimi and heard him mutter
They all need to know, Karen.

She sighed deeply, but composed herself. She was not one to let her troubles keep her from doing what must be done.

Jessika, Mr. Jenkins, and... Mr. Ezequiel? She saw he had no intent of budging

It, well, it all started when I heard your father dissapeared, Jessika....

Zeke could tell he was in for the long haul now. However, It's a good sign she was accepting him. He must of gotten on the right foot with her. Zeke shook his head, This is no time for that kind of thinking!

"Well, Zeke, You got us into SOME mess now havent you?"
"Horus..."

"Karen...what about my father," she began to feel part worried and part hopeful.

Maybe he wasn't dead she thought. She just didn't think he would die so suddenly, especially in a boating accident as the church members had told her. She glanced at the Ezequil wondering if maybe he should leave, but then she looked at the sword thing and thought it might be a good idea to have him around with that butler guy near. She looked at the Captain who looked like a nice guy, trustworthy. But her her gaze kept coming back to her friend. She had a feeling she wouldn't like this.

Karen really didn't want to finish the story, so when the door flew open and the man with the scar walked in, she almost felt relief. But when she saw the self-satisfied grin and heavy parchment clenched in his fist, her worst fears were confirmed. She saw her daemon growl loudly, a rare sound that was shudder inducing. The German Shepard looked the same way with a frieghtening snarling face. It seemed like any moment they might pounce on each other.

Mr. Turner, what can I do for you?

Don't play coy with me, you little brat. It has taken long enough for Mr. Roussel and I to bring you to the church's attention, you little heretic, but now that we have more friends and you more enemies, the task has become considerably easier. Now I have the papers to bring you in before the Inquisition.

Karen felt the small sickness in the base of her stomach grow as the thing she has been running has finally come to collect its due. She placed her hand on Kaimi and tried to hide her fear. The papers in his hand must have been produced just hours ago. And her many "enemies" in the college, both Church zealots and the old fashioned men and women who had nothing but loathing for the only female scholar in the history of the college, must have been the one to get the call to inquisition passed. She felt so careless. And worried. Her compatriot in the research, an elderly, gentle man name Timothy Richards and his small water vole daemon could not hurt a fly much less a man and she was worried for him. She left no physical evidence of her reasearch about, so they must have gotten it from him.

You tortured Mr. Richards? The Church condoned that?!

Hah! Torture! We had but to threaten his postion, and perhaps the existence of a few digits, and he led us straight to the heart of your research. The coward!

The Capitan stepped forward and in his most commanding voice all but cursed Mr. Turner to the lowest circle of hell before ordering him off his ship. But in a heartbeat, Mr. Turner was holding a pistol to Karen's head, and saying in a calm voice

The will of church is law, Capitan, and I will bring this heathen girl to justice.

The church man busted through the door, but didnt take the time to notice Zeke. A very, very big mistake. Making sure that his Daemon was occupied with Karen's Dragon, Zeke snuck up behind the man, and struck the man with the blunt end of the Rapier's hilt, knocking him out. It was only after the man was on the ground did he consider the fact that if he attacked a church man, he attacks the church. Now he was REALLY in for it. Then again, he wasnt about to let him kill Karen or Jessika.

"Horus, go make sure there isnt anyone outside, We need to get this gentleman off the boat."
"Right-o"

before he carried the man out, he took his pistol and pocketed it. You never know, right? He went back in to check on Karen and Jessika.

"Well ladies, looks like I am in for the long haul, huh?"

Position: Witch

Daemon: An eagle called Caedmon

Age: 16

Physical Description: long dark brown hair, fierce eyes, medium build

She will always fight for what's right and help whoever needs help, as long as she can trust them.

Fionulla spits the salty water out of her mouth as she clambers onto the deck of the boat
"Why do these places always have to be on boats, I hate swimming?"
"Because that's where it's safest"
"Shut up smartass"
She walks up to the door and kicks it open, she's too tired to be nice. Inside there is a man with red hair and two girls
"Who are you? where's the witch's consul?"

Merlissister, I am glad you want to participate, but if you are gonna be a witch, your daemon has gotta be a bird. Sorry, but if you could make your character either have a different daemon, or be something other than a witch then I would be more than happy for you to join us. whee

((Thanks, but if you'll notice, we are on a ship, we aren't in a house. A capitan's quarters would be on a ship... You might want to reread some of our previous posts
Also, you are quite young for a witch, huh?))

Jessika glanced at the newcomer, then back to Ezequil and the man on the floor as Ezequil's daemon checked outside.

"What are we going to do," she said, confused.

She couldn't stop thinking about her father and what Karen had begun to say. The church was obviously involved, and somehow, her father too. She was worried about Karen, she didn't want her to be in trouble, and she'd do anything she could to help, but she needed to know what was going on. She glanced over as Ezequil took him off, her expression becoming hard.

"I think we need to ship off," she said, her voice cold. "This has to do with your research and my father, right Karen? I would appreciate you telling what's going on."

Name: Miara Hopewell
Age: 24
Position: Professsor
Appearance: Long brown hair to about 3 inches past her shoulders and brown eyes. About 5'8" and an average weight. People say that she is rather pretty, but she does not think she is at all. Normally she wears a pair of jeans and a long sleeve sweater, her hair up in a ponytail. She has glasses (like the Emo glasses). She always wears a ring that her mother gave her which has a silver band shaped as leaves and a red gem in the middle.
Personality: Most of the time she is a happy person, though can be a bit emotional at times as well. She has a few trust issues when she first meets people, but generally she gets over them. She is friendly and caring and also a hard worker. She loves reading and teaching and is quite the nerd when she wants to be. She likes cooking but hates cleaning up the mess.
Daemon: Rowan a male lion
History: Miara grew up with her parents and older brother near Oxford untill she was 11 when her brother, who was 16 at the time, was killed. They then moved to London where she spent her childhood untill she was 19 and went to Oxford again to study to be a professor. As she was working for her degree she meet a man named Steven who she fell in love with, but he soon grew appart from her and they split up. Now she lives alone in a little house in Oxford where she is pretty happy.

As Zeke and his hawk-daemon threw the church man off of the ship and onto the dock, Karen sat on the couch in the Capitan’s comfortable, if slightly bare stateroom and placed her head in her hands. This was all getting out of hand far too quickly. Now, so many people were involved. And in a way, this whole stupid thing was a result of her completely uncharacteristic carelessness. When she was an explorer proper, years ago, she was never this stupid; she certainly wouldn’t have let herself get involved in something so deeply that her better observational sense was impaired. But when she finally found what she really loved doing, what she really believed in, the time seemed to fly, her sense of priorities were warped. Instead of constantly being on the watch, for constantly looking behind her back, she threw herself fully into her research. Even as her research became fuller it also, in so many ways, became heathen. But Karen was not religious, in any way. The church was not something Karen regarded well. At all. So when the things she researched became more and more “heathen,” she became more and more excited. The implications were staggering. Karen was beginning to feel the same was she did while she went at her research, dreamy eyed and peaceful, like her mind was split every which way and yet she could fully observe every one of the levels at once. But she was drawn out of her dream state by a small nibble on her finger from Kaimi. Everyone around her was looking at her expectantly.

Like I said, it all started when I had heard that Jessika’s father had disappeared while in the Arctic. Of course, an explorer disappearing is not a source of much excitement, really, because it happens. The Arctic is dangerous. But when I had heard that Jessika’s dad had disappeared, it was a shock. First of all, he is probably one of the greatest explorers I know. He was knowledgeable in everything from languages of the North, to the weather, environment, he was even on very good terms with the Tartars, and some claimed he was close to no less than an fully armored bear! The second reason this was a shock was because this was the third group of explorers to disappear this month, which is unprecedented because three in a year is rare. I knew that something was going wrong in the North. Of course, my friend Timothy and I both knew it couldn’t just be a freak weather system or anything like that. In fact, it was something related to a phenomenon you all are probably familiar with, the aurora borealis. In fact, in Mr. Richard’s and my study of the history of the aurora, we have found that there is a connection between the aurora and explorers disappearing. For years in fact, it has been recorded. Even Tartars have recorded men disappearing for almost all of their history. And it all corresponds with, well, with what Tim and I are researching. A type of force, or maybe a particle. It has reappeared over and over in experiments. You have to understand. Mr. Richards has always been an odd ling among the scholars. He studies experimental theology not from a practical point of view, really. Instead, he studies humans and the affect of human’s on particles, and vice versa. And, well, that bothers the church. It is hard to explain, but….

Karen trailed off. She could share the crazy theory with everyone there, the idea that there was this force. Not religious, purely scientific, that was thoroughly connected to human thought and emotion. Even daemons, which were not a sign of original sin, as the church preached in its most secret circles, but instead a being intricately tied to this “force.” She even felt foolish thinking these things. She suddenly felt giddy and dizzy, like she might faint. She looked at everyone, waiting to see what they would say to the heresy she was spouting.

These theories were quite interesting to Zeke. He has heard of Aurora, but only rumors. He was curious as to find the truth of this strange phenomena. Then again, for all he knew, she might be leading them to hell in a handbasket.

Zeke took the time to look both of the ladies over.

Well, hell wouldnt be so bad as long as I had company.

"Hmph. This strange particle sounds like it needs looking in to. I suppose at this point I might as well come along, since my journey takes me north as well."

Zeke was looking for something to do research in the north, and now he just found it.

She realised that they weren't exactly the people to know about this type of stuff and in fact they hadn't even noticed her as they were deep in conversation about aurora's and something that sounded pretty serious. She promptly collapsed on the floor from exhaustion, her last thought being, "that ought to get their attention"
