According to one of my profs, she thinks it may be linked to the Gods being seen as extremely potent. So a lot of the time because they're SO potent they concieved twins.

by copied I literally mean they took the story and changed the names of the characters. gonk why? why did they have to do that? they could have invented their own, but no!
