I have had lucid dreaming ever since I was a child. It's weird but...fun! Although now that I'm a teenager...I am aware that I'm dreaming but I cannot control my dreams...it's as if something or someone doesn't want me to control my dreams anymore. OR my dreams are trying to tell me something that I need to do or solve...but what?
That would depend on the dream, and it may be that you are supposed to learn somtihing from them, that does occasonally happen... or it could be accounts of past lives, depending on what you wish to believe. I would say that if you are aware you are dreaming, but cannot change the dream it is probably one or the other... that's why it isn't changeable...
It's the same for me, when I was a child up into early teens I could control my dreams, I didn't know that it was anything special/ different/ whatever at the time though. I used to have nightmares fairly often, as any kid does hehe, so I gradually learned to take control. Thing is, as the nightmares stopped I guess I didn't have to anymore as my dreams were fairly good... so now I find myself unable to! I figure it's because the need stopped so my brain just abandoned the skill as it wasn't being used. I might try to regain it again, it'd be fun : ) I think the only nightmare I've had as an adult was after weeks of stress for a uni project getting little to no sleep for about a month. Then I had a really freaky nightmare... :S but other than that, nothing alas!
I have lucid dreamed a couple of times in the past year actually, come to think of it! I was trying to astral project, but it didn't seem to quite work. I really should keep up with trying, but I've been so busy the time and will power have escaped me
