number_17 i think the best song on images and words if "wait for sleep" that song isn't like you discribe dream theater at all. Pull me Under remains my favourite Dream Theater song. With Take Away my Pain being second. But i much prefer Pain of Salvation, Devin Townsend, Devil Doll and Ayreon.

I do have a favourite DT moment. Live at Budokan: Hollow Years. Petrucci's guitar work: enough said.
Metropolis Pt.1 is another favourite.

there are hollow years, lines in the sand and the john petrucci solo the best parts on the cd.

Dream Theater is technically the best band in the world. People say that they play often too technically and without any feelings but nothing is less true. I'm a great fan of Mike Portnoy because I'm drumming myself and his style is totally weird/cool/unique and so on. Their best song is definitely A Change Of Seasons and their best album...hmm...at the moment, Train of Thought is my favourite.

i understand what people say about no emotion. sometimes, specially in the guitar solo's. john is just playing to fast for a good emotion. if he just plays a little slower he can make things much bueatifuller.

I doubt it. People like Michael Angelo play only for speed but Petrucci doesn't always play very fast. He plays in difficult styles and that could be fast or slow.

A fast song with a slow solo doesn't sound as nice as a fast song with a fast solo.

I only have Awake, Metropolis Pt. II: Images and Words, Train of Thought, Octavarium, and Score.
I'd think my favorite songs would be The Mirror, The Dance of Eternity, In the Name of God, and Octavarium.
I think LaBrie is an amazing vocalist, especially for this band. I do agree that sometimes it feels like Petrucci is just playing (solos) for speed.

I downloaded Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence. Amazing, I loved Grand Finale / Losing Time and Disappear.

I've been a Dream Theater nut since I bought Octavarium. I'm thoroughly impressed with that album, and it continues to be my favorite.

Okay, so I've now got all of their studio albums on the comp, and most of their live albums.
Incredible, I'm really digging Live At The Marquee at the moment, as well at Live Scenes From New York and Train Of Thought.
