Two weeks ago I went to a concert of Muse but it wasn't as good as the concert Opeth gave at Graspop heart The audience was too big and sometimes too not interested in the music confused That gives a very bad experience.. especially when the band plays a soft and intense song and the crowd is just chatting away.. gonk

thanks for the invite to the guild first of all. and my good experience was an opeth concert in october of 2005 at the HOB Hollywood. The best show Ive ever seen live. Singer Mikael Akerfelt was not only funny and had a great all aroudn stage presence, their songs were much more kick a** in person. I also met the drummer to a band called Eyes of Fire who also put up a great show opening for them.

Another good one was Ozzfest 2006 in San Bernardino, CA. i woke my a** up at 6 am just to see Strapping Young Lad play at 930. Great stage presence. With the amount of bass put out by Genes drums, I told him he owed me a drink for rattling my pants like that lol. Great guys, got poster signed by them all at a Jager booth. Also saw Dragonforce perform on mainstage where i had pit tickets.

I saw Blind Guardian about a month ago with Leaves' Eyes. Leaves' Eyes did really good, especially for a lot of people not knowing who they were and such. Blind Guardian gave an excellent performance and only played two of their new songs, Fly and Another Stranger Me. No mosh pit, thank god. Moshing is retarded. I go to a concert for the music. A bunch of people held plastic swords up. xD

I don't go to concerts much for two reasons: 1. I don't like the average moshing metal audience who take the joy out of just purely listening to a good performance. 2. Finland is a crappy place for a proge-fan as none of the good bands ever play here
With that said, I still have a tradition of visiting Progpower Europe as often as I can and I've been doing that 4 times now. The best concert I've ever seen was Pain of Salvation headlining Progpower in 2001. The opened with "Used" and I was sold instantly. Awesome show!

Awesome show! never been to progpower, when i found out that their was a festival like that i was 2 days to late to go. with some of my favorite bands playing! sweatdrop better next year, already a brilliant line-up. with mechanical poet, dreamscape and circus maximus.

PP Europe, or USA? I won't be able to go to PP Europe this year.. I'll be moving to Hong Kong for work for a few years and it's very unlikely that I'll be around Europe in early October.. I just need to find weirds Chinese progemetal bands... hah, like they even exist. xd

I use insight instead! xd The thing about PP Europe is that it usually doens't invite just big names.. they traditionally (I know Rene, the guy who runs the PP organization, a little) try to get less known bands to play to introduce new names to the audience and then have only a few big names as headliners to ensure people coming. UK and USA usually just take the normal festival approach and invite all the big names they can get. And in all honesty, I like the Europe version better.. it's much nicer to see new acts getting some attention from a crowd that really can appreaciate them - in this anti-proge world of ours. wink EDIT: Plus it's a really good way to find new interesting bands.. that's how I found Riverside, Andromeda, ACT and Orphaned Land. biggrin

don't begin about riverside.. its my second favorite band. i missed them with 2 days at PP. and then they had a gig with vanden plas and some other great band (forgot who it was) around my town. on bike distance. but i found out 1 day to late! gonk
i like europe too. and i like little names more fun most of the times. names as mechaincal poet of dreamscape, riverside, circus maximus etc. say me much more then dream theater or devin townsent or rush.
