No, a gun wins either way, the distance the tip of a sword has to travel to have an effective strike is many times longer than the distance a pistol barrel has to move to get into firing position. The fastest fencer in the world isn't fast enough to catch someone moving away from them and firing.
Hypothetical situation, Put them on a piste. a regular 9mm handgun with one person, whatever sword you want with the other. have them on the En Garde lines like any other match
"En Garde"
"Ready"
"Fence!"
"BANG!"
pistol is victorious. Face it, the gun is used over the sword in warfare today for a reason
