La Veuve Zin I.Am La Veuve Zin Beware the Jabberwock That's actually not true of all birth control pills, either. There are two different kinds (chemically) and only one kind acts to try and prevent implantation.
And actually you have the ways that they work, wrong.
1. It thicken the mucus in the cervix so that the sperm can't get through to the egg.
2. It keeps the ovaries from releasing an egg.
3. Makes the egg harder so it's less likely for the sperm to be able to penetrate it.
4. Thins the uterine lining so if those three ALL fail the egg can't implant.
Once you become pregnant birth control doesn't do anything. Nothing. Period. It does not cause you to have an abortion. QFE and heart Which is why my devoutly Catholic mother was on the pill. (She stopped taking it to have me and my sister). Not to be offensive but, regardless of her personal/political position on birth control, if your mother disobeyed the Church teachings and used birth control, she wasn't all that devout. sweatdrop I've tried to tell her she should leave if she doesn't agree with everything, but her view is that the pope and all the people who decree dogma are just human beings, and they can be wrong. As she puts it, she believes Jesus of Nazareth is the son of god, and that makes her a Catholic. And Jesus never said "thou shalt not use birth control." Hell, it doesn't even say in the bible that abortion is wrong, so you can't really rely on it to know exactly what Jesus really said and what people twisted his words into. Ther ebible never speaks of abortion, but it does have several versus (both old and new testament) that support the unborn being human and "person" before birth

I'm Catholic too we mainly talked about how bad abortion was last Sunday. I don't think he even said anything about the pill but we did a few months ago.
I get so excited to see another catholic. I live in the deep south and there are so few catholics. There are alot of rumors about catholics. Like the most asked "do you worship mary" coming in second "Do you boil boys in hot oil if they don't know the hail mary?" rolleyes All completely stupid and untrue.

La Veuve Zin Ava R. In fact, birth control is supposed to lessen periods, not cause them. The effects vary from woman to woman, but you can use monthly bc to control your periods--the reason they give you seven placebos with each monthly regimen is because you need to stop taking the hormones in order to menstruate. Thus taking it can prevent irregularity, and if your periods are too heavy it can adjust your hormones to more normal levels. There *is* a bc form that recently came out that limits you to only four (or three, I forget) periods a year. Good for women with severe PMS or anemia, but I don't think I'd take hormones just for convenience. Yeah, I realized that I knew better than to say that later. Sort of a "Do'h!" moment there. sweatdrop Betware the Jabberwock Actually the morning after won't do that as well. It's only an extremely high doseage of the BC pill. However it will not do anything if you are already pregnant, which is why you have to take it in a certain amount of time. Because it takes a couple days for you to become pregnant. That's how I thought it worked originally, but someone told me otherwise. I tried looking it up, but didn't have much time so I never found anything beyond that. I guess I need to poke around some more.  Happy

I was wondering about that (and hoping I wasn't going to have to look it up) since I'd never heard that said about birth control. In fact, birth control is supposed to lessen periods, not cause them.
However, what R!nalda posted was something I'd heard about the Morning After Pill, so I'm wondering if maybe that's what the Bishop was talking about...?

Halloween! Well for me it causes periods and can lessen them (without it i'll bleed not stop for months or not at all). It has hormones that can effect women in different ways. The morning after it like a major dose of birth control. Alright said some stuff about it and it doesn't work if pregnant but it seemed to be ignored when I said it and people just said something about the church in respose instead.
