MikoBura Saiyan X MikoBura Saiyan X MikoBura Saiyan X They may not do a very good job at dubbing but i'm sure they do thier best. That's why I still watch it whee Hahahaha. 40%.Only 40% are they true to the real script. They changed personalities. Goku and Vegeta, everyone for that matter- they're not themselves anymore. Why change something, that's already a big hit in Japan, and all over the world? No, not just the censores. And for those of you that don't reply... is it because you don't want to know the english version is horrible? Or is it that you already know? Please reply. ^^; Wait, I'm confused. Are you saying that Goku and Vegeta's personalities are different in the JAp. version of Z. and so they changed it to suit the US viewers? Either way, Z is still a hit but the dubbers (FUNi) change it according to how they feel it should be? Yes. They made it so it would appeal to the young viewers in America. That's why Kuririn talks with slang and such, and Goku's the big 'super man' hero. So how is the "real" personalities of Goku or vegeta or Kuririn I can't really explain that in one scentence. Go watch the japanese version if you wanna know. And eh, no I don't watch it on TV or DVD (hint hint). thanks, your'e really smart.

I totally understand what point of view your are looking at. But for me, it was the American show that I fell in love with so I don't really have a problem with it... also I have almost NO access to any original Japanese versions of the show at all, so I can't make a real judge on it. But it is very interesting what Funi have done to the show. I respect the voices from both shows but I think that the fact that they put a comedian to make it more funny can ruin the moments that are ment to be serious or intense.
How was Vegeta supposed to be portrayed in the Japanese one? (is inexperianced gonk )

How was Vegeta supposed to be portrayed in the Japanese one? (is inexperianced gonk ) Well, Vegeta is quite complex. He isn't toooooo different from the dub, but let's see. In the beginning Vegeta comes to Earth to receive immortality, and want to torture/kill Kakarotto for betraying the Saiyajin race. As you know, Vegeta get's his a** kicked. Vegeta get's extremely mad over this and sort off jealous, and thinks it's unfair for a common Saiyajin to have more power than him, the prince and most elite Saiyajin. So his plan until Goku's second death is basically this; Get stronger and kill him. In the Buu saga he commits suicide because he THOUGHT Goku was weaker than him (he did KO him in their fight), and because he wanted to save the day and get reconition(?) just this once. You can imagine how pissed he had to be when he figured out Goku was really a Super Saiyajin 3 ^^; But after that he comes to his senses and admits that Goku is number one, and yadda yadda. The big difference between the two Vegeta's is, the english one becomes more nice, and has more 'pride' while the real Vegeta just is... damn jealous. ^^; Sorry for my weird explanation, but for the real difference you SHOULD see the japanese versoion or read the unedited manga (I download my DBZ, it's not for sale/airing here, but I do buy the manga (which is, fortunately, unedited here. ^_^)).

Ah I see. Thank you ^^ I have see the Janemba movie in Japanese, which I totally loved! I live in New Zealand and the Manga trade is nearly non existant gonk But it is quite interesting the difference. I remeber on a website I read that Funi wanted to change the music to be all rocky and that, when really fighting isn't portrayed like that in Japan at all, if you see what I mean.

B.T.W, you know Duel Masters? Was is REALLY that corny in Japan or did they hang, draw and quarter it? (kill it)

I agree on what you say. But I jsut thought of something. Sometimes the dubbers must fill in a phrase that has maybe a different meaning or nothing to do with the subject because of mouth movement. I noticed that by watching Family Guy in spanish and english. In the spanish version, the dubbers filled in a punchline with something totally different than the english version. That would be because if they would of done a literal translation, the phrase would of definately not matched with the mouth movements of the character probably because its to long or short.

Of course, sentences get changed for that. But they still are technicallly saying the same thing, but in an other way. In FUNi's case they changed it to APPEAL to American audiences. They even have a guy who writes jokes for the english version. The funi dubbed version is only 40% correct. And that isn't because of mouth movements.
