Satisfied that he was following, Zam trotted through her little sanctuary in search of her miniature waterhole. It wasn't really a waterhole, just a little indentation in the rock that liked to fill up with belly-deep water. No crocodiles, no fish, no plants... just good clear water. "Almost there!" she called back cheerfully.

They entered in the rock playground. Baakir followed after her quietly, letting his pawsteps get softer and softer until hearing them would be a strain on the ears. He soon stop walking completely after she called, letting her drift off towards her bath. He smirked and walked with the same silent steps a little whiles off... before he darted off among the rocks. He hid behind one shortly, keeping his ears perked to listen for Zam trying to find him. Was it childish? Of course. Was that okay? Bingo!

So intent was Zam on heading for her bath that she failed to notice Baakir's disappearance until she arrived at her 'bathtub.' Turning around to speak to the male, she discovered that the little brat was no longer behind her. Uttering a loud huff, the lioness spun completely around and trotted back the way she had come, sniffing around rocks and peeking behind and beneath them. "Baakir, you silly beast! You can't hide forever, so come out here and be a real lion! Coward!" she said, rather cranky now that her bath was being postponed.

Coward? Oh, that hurt. He flinched slightly, but stayed down behind his rock. He couldn't go, nono. Baakir stayed ducked down, shivering slightly.

Water. Everywhere there was water. Carrying him away. But he just wanted to play on the rocks with Bari. He had just wanted to play... 'Mommy!'

The water monster was still waiting for him, oh yes. Waiting for him just beneath the water's edge, ready to snag him and carry him down... down where there was no breathing. He curled up, tail tucked around him as he shuddered. Why did the water monster want him? He hadn't done anything wrong then. Oh sure, rejected his father, but that was no cause for the goddess to deny him passage. His eyes were snapped shut, his body crunched up into as much a semblance of a ball as the young male could make it. "Mommy..." He whispered quietly.

Well, he was not coming out, obviously. How frustrating... and ridiculous! It was just a little water! "Baaaaaaaaakir! Don't make me drag you out!" she called, hopping atop a rock and glancing about the maze of rocks for her friend. No movement, no movement... AH HA!

Hopping down, she dodged her way through the rocks until she came to-

Drat. Just waving grass. This was getting very ridiculous. "Baakir!" Zam called, very, very cranky now.

His name kept being called, and he could feel it pulling. Beneath the waves, he could see those dark eyes, those long arms trying to hold him down, reaching out. Baakir, get back here! He flailed, claws unleashing as he growled, trying to bat back the water. It wasn't there. He knew it wasn't. Yet... why did his shoulders ache like they had after he'd been rescued? Bah, he wasn't a cub! His paw smacked against the rock, causing him to yelp out, but it broke the fear through. Pain. It solved his problem. "Zam?" He asked in a dazed voice, his paw a little numb. Ouch, he'd hit it hard!

Zam's dark ears twitched when she heard a yelp and her name called. What? He was here? Where? She darted around the rocks, peeking her head this way and that. "Baakir?" she called again, twitching her tail around in utter frustration. Where was he hiding? "Baakir!" she called again.

"Zam, I'm over here." Baakir started to walk towards her, flinching slightly when he put pressure on his left paw. Way to go, just hurt yourself, Baakir. The adolescent peeked out from behind a rock, trying to hide the pained look in his eyes. Where'd she run off to? "Zaaaaaa-am."

There he was! Giving a hefty snort, Zam wove in and amongst the rocks until she spied him peeping out from behind a rock. What was he doing back there? "I'm over here, furball! Where did you disappear t- did you hurt yourself?" she asked with a sigh, spying the look in his eyes. Silly cub. "Baakir..."

With a small nod, Baakir walked towards her, no longer flinching even though it pained him a little. "I... I don't like baths." He said, looking down guiltily. "And I hit my paw." He refused to look up. He was acting like a cub... It was pathetic, wasn't it?

Well, if the age difference hadn't been obvious before, it most certainly was now. "I didn't use to either, but they aren't so bad. It isn't as though I'll hold your head underwater," she pointed out, watching him. He wasn't looking at her. Hiding something, perhaps? "Is it hurt?" she asked, gesturing with one of her forepaws at the limb he had been favoring. Poor thing. Maybe he wasn't ready to live out here.

"It's not waiting for you." Baakir mumbled quietly, though his mind took off. What if it found out he was Zam's friend?! What if it tried to take her too? He couldn't let it; wouldn't let it. Ever, nopenope. "Not that badly. It'll be fine, I guess." It wasn't as bad as going in the water. Most nothing was. Most nothing? His head gave a small shake. His thoughts didn't seem to be lining up like he wanted them to.

"Yes, the bath is waiting for me. I had to postpone it until I could find you," Zam said, assuming 'it' to be the bath. That was what they were talking about, right? "Well... if you're sure it's all right, then let's go! I'm sick of being covered in dirt and ick!" the lioness groused. She swatted playfully at him and then darted back off toward her bath again, very much looking forward to being un-smelly.

"Okay..." He followed behind her this time. He had no intention of getting in the water himself, but he'd be there to protect Zam, if nothing else. It wouldn't take her while he was around, nope. He halted near the water, leaping up onto one of the rocks, looking down at the adult.

Now he was cooperating? All right, something was definitely up. Zam knew she wasn't the sharpest lion in the land, but she did know that something was not right. How strange. She waded into the tiny pool of water, sighing happily as the water cleansed at her dark paws. She glanced up at Baakir, cocking her head to one side. "Well, come on. You're filthy too."
