Mayumi wonders if dad will like the bolo idea better. She decides to wait on the letter to compose her thoughts better.
Finding a broken cot and fish bones lying around she tries to construct some crude weapons.

Mayumi returns to her lair to get a pot and loads some herbs into it. She adds some chopped up carrots too. Noting that the melon would be too heavy she opts not to try to take that.
Remembering she wanted to ask Pepper or dad about the strange photo she found the other day she puts that in her pouch.
She also puts some quail bits that she had stored for later into the pot.
She ties a string around the pot and starts to drag it towards the beach.

*Mayumi arrives with Pentium and Pepper. She quickly fetches the comfrey leaves and vine to bring to kismet. She puts the herbs in a pouch, while Pepper puts Pentium in his kweet bed. She hopes he'll be safe while she and Pepper are at Kismet's infirmary.
Not wanting to delay any further Mayumi and Pepper leave for Kismet's infirmary.*

*Mayumi and Pepper arrive back at Mayumi's lair after visiting Kismet's infirmary. She wonders whether to invite Pepper to stay or not. She could use the company after the events of tonight.*
*Pepper holds Mayumi's hand in his and is reluctant to let tonight end. Her face reflects the same uncertainty in his.*

*Pepper his feelings for Mayumi overriding his normal retiscence draws her into and embrace and decides to kiss her. He's never wanted to do anything more than this in his life.*

*Mayumi lets herself be drawn into a kiss by Pepper. The rightness of being in his arms makes her feel whole. She embraces Pepper and savors the taste and feel of him.*
*Pepper continues lost in the kiss he lifts Mayumi and carries her toward the bedroom.*

The next morning before Mayumi wakes...... *Pepper stands before Mayumi's door, wishing he could see her one last time but he knew no matter how strong his desire for her was, he had to do this. She didnt deserve the dragon that stood by her door now. Such a dragon would be a fool. . . .a damned fool to think such. He set down the wrapped object meant for her, maybe she would see it. As he stood up again he places a hand lightly on the door and with the saddest voice he had ever spoken with, replied.* I will always love you. . . Mayumi. *He retreived his pack from the ground and walked away, he dared not look back as he might have lost his nerve. How could he be a man with these blackouts. How could he be worthy of loving her if he could not find out why and control whatever it was that made him black out and see visions.* Always. . . .MayumiAttached to the gift is a note: Pepper's Note Dearest Mayumi I would adore nothing more than stay and be with you now. Even as you wake and read this I feel shamed at making it like this. I do not deserve your love, the way you look at me as I am now. I cannot be good enough if I am continuing to blackout at random. . .Beloved, it is serious enough for me to be concerned and solve this riddle. *Mayumi finally wakes from her deep restful slumber. She is startled to not find Pepper next to her. She gets up and starts looking around the lair. He is indeed gone. Pentium is still in his kweet bed half asleep. Mayumi thinks maybe Pepper got up early and went to his own lair.*
She decides she'll go out and see if this is the case and see about scrounging breakfast for Pepper, Pentium and her.*

*Mayumi heads out of the lair and nearly trips over the object at her door. She bends over to see what it is. It seems to be round orbish thing with a note attached.
She detaches the note and begins to read. As she reads the note she feels her world crumbling about her. Pepper's gone? She thinks no it can't be true it must be some cruel joke. She rereads it again. Tears silently start to fall down her cheeks. How could Pepper do this why couldn't he trust in their love. Blackouts are nothing to throw their future away on. If he was indeed suffering from blackouts how safe is it for him to leave and go out. What if he blacked out and Reet finds him like that.
Mayumi picks up the strange object and brings it into her lair She puts both the note and the object at her desk.
She sits at the chair next to her desk still crying she need time to think on what she should do next.*

*After a few minutes of crying she figures she'll go out and see if she could find Pepper. Not knowing how long she'd be out she gets some dried berries and leaves them in a bowl for Pentium for when he wakes.
Deciding that it's not entirely safe out there she takes her bow and some arrows. The points are rather blunt so she figures she needs to add some sleep draught to the tips. She retrieves a jar she keeps some sleeping draught in for nights she has insomnia and dips the tips of the arrows in the concentrated draught hoping it's enough. She puts the arrows in a makeshift quiver. She dons on a fur capelet against the cold and heads out.*

Mayumi, Connor and Phoebus return to the lair. Connor and Phoebus just took Connor on an archery lesson. Mayumi just cokked some deer steaks for dinner and she made hot cocoa for drinks and a chocolate tart for dessert.

Phoebus sits down at the table. The bench is a bit low for his huge height. Connor sits across from him and Mai'mi lass is getting the food.
Mayumi serves the food and pours some hot chocolate into some mugs. She sits down to eat. "So how was your outing? Thanks so much for offering to take Connor to archery practice."
"Connor is a great laddie. 'twas me pleasure I assure ye. He has the strength to pull the bow but I dinae think he sees that well afar. He does well with the target in shorter distances but when I moved it further he wasnae doing as well."
"I'm sorry Uncle Phoebus I did try my best." Connor blushes in embarassment.
"Nothing to be sorry about laddie ye did catch a rabbit so it was nae bad. Yer eyesight is nothing to be ashamed off I was just telling yer Mam 'cause she may want to know.
"There's nothing wrong Connor your father Pepper's eyesight was so bad he wore something called glasses to help him see better. Hopefully your eyesight isn't that bad though."

Phoebus is intruigued so Pepper was nae only a fool but blind as a bat too no wonder he nae see what he had. He thinks as he drinks more of the tasty brew Mai'mi lass gie him. "Mai'mi what be this beverage 'tis tastier than me homemade mead? I neva tasted it's like before. " He drinks some more and pours himself another mug.
"It's called chocolate I make it from a bean that grows on the island I add some honey to sweeten it."
"It's really tasty mama. Connor eats more of the deer and sips bits of his mug."
What'd ye add to the dear it's rather savory and betta than when I hae it. Then again I oftentimes am too lazy and hae it raw." Chuckles Phoebus.
