Obie laughed at Darya's teasing and sipped her water as she made her departure. She smirked at Parisa's admonishment and turned her dark eyes to the younger girl at her questions.
"Pre-med," she smiled, always feeling at home talking about her major and scientific safety net. "Once I get into medical school, I'll be looking into specializing in pediatrics. As for my hobbies..." she trailed off a moment and glanced up at Ra with a small smirk. "Reading and studying are my main ones. If I'm not doing either of those, then I'm probably cooking or off exploring Japan with Ne-chan," she smiled and looked back at Parisa. "Ra tells me that you sing?"

Parisa smiled broadly at Obie and shifted to sit cross legged her elbows resting on her knees. "I like to read." She said with a smile. "No medicine. I don't like blood and things, like ne-chan." She smirked adopting Obie's nickname for him.
"I do sing, and dance a little. Mostly folk songs." She smiled and looked from Ra to Obie. "Do you sing too? Ra cannot. He sounds like ... a ... uh, cat."

Obie smiled when Parisa used Ra's pet name and listened with interest as she answered her query. When she returned the question, she laughed and glanced to Ra as she described his singing. She hesitated a moment in answering, looking down into her water for a moment. Singing was still something deeply personal to her. Not even Ra had heard her in two years, since the day of her eighteenth birthday.
"I do, but very rarely," she finally conceded and looked back up at the other girl with a smile. "I also play piano and have been known to dance on occasion," she said, smirking back down into her water.

Parisa smiled and finished off the water she had been drinking. "You must sing with me, tomorrow." She said grinning at Obie. "And dance. Ne-chan dances sometimes ... he used to anyway."
Ra shot Parisa a glare and turned a light shade of red. "I don't dance." He said looking down at the grass. "It's just messing around." Looking up and around at the fading light he stood up. "Shall we take our stuff up before dinner." He said to Obie, hoping to evade anymore embarassing facts slipping out.

Obie blinked when Parisa insisted she sing and dance with her the next day, then smiled when she was informed that Ra danced. She at least knew he could dance in pairs, but she had a feeling that wasn't exactly what Parisa meant, even more so when his cheeks flushed red.
"Sure," she smiled up at him and winked at Parisa as she pushed herself up to her feet. As they started to walk back towards the house, she glanced around at his family and then back up at him. She suddenly realized she was no longer nervous anymore and really rather liked his family a lot.

"Sorry." he said as they walked back out into the hallway to grab their bags and lead her upstairs. "They can be a bit of a handful." He had only been to the house once since his mother had moved there, but he knew which room Obie would be in. Right up the top of the house. "You'll be in here." He said leading her into a large room. There were two single beds and a airbed set up on the floor. "it looks like they left you one of the nice beds." He smirked dumping her bag on the bed closest the door. "Risa will get up early to pray but Darya's a slacker like me, So you don't have to worry about getting disturbed too early."

Obie smirked at his apology and followed him up the stairs to the room she would be staying in. She glanced around for a moment, then looked back up at him, wishing she could wrap her arms around him.
"I like your family Ne-chan," she smiled softly. "I think they're wonderful." She glanced around the room again and smirked a little. "You know... if I have to dance tomorrow, so do you," she said, looking back up at him and slipping her hands into her back pockets.

Ra smiled and reached out his hand to touch her face. This weekend was going to kill him. It meant so much to him that she liked his family. "If there's dancing, I won't escape." He smirked withdrawing his hand and shoving his own in his pockets. "It is good fun though. I'll promise you that much."

Obie smiled warmly as he slipped his hand over her cheek and kept her hands firmly in her pockets. She bit the inside of her lip when he withdrew and smiled again at his promise.
"I believe you. I'm quite sure it wll be good fun," she smiled. "Though I'm not so sure about singing. I don't think any of the songs I know would be appropriate," she smirked a little, remembering back to the day she had sung for him.
"You should go get settled in your room. I'll meet you downstairs in a few minutes," she smiled, their closeness and seclusion starting to wear her restraint thin. She was more than happy to be here and share this with him, but she was going to miss the freedom of Japan.

Ra nodded and smiled. "O.k, I'm on the first floor with the elder of my cousins. If you need me for anything." He said, stepping backwards reluctantly. Damn his family for being so conservative. He thought as he turned to take his things down to the room that was technically his.
~~~~
By the time he had changed and gone downstairs it was dark. He could smell the rich smells of lamb and spices as his family prepared to break their fast for the last time of the festival. Most of them were sat in the living room. Talking and laughing loudly, mostly feminine gossip. Standing in the doorway he smirked and went to sit on a floor cushion with Parisa.
Chewing nervously on the inside of her lip, Obie made her way down the stairs after changing into fresh clothes and plaiting her hair back into a long braid, her stomach rumbling silently at the savory scents that filled the house. She knew she didn't have to fast, for obvious reasons, but personally, she had felt wrong eating in front of Ra even though he had insisted several times it was okay. Following the rich sounds of laughter and chatter, she made her way into the living room. Even though she had no clue of what was being said, she loved listening to his family speak. Their language was truly, very beautiful. She found Ra immediately sitting with Parisa and she made her way towards them sitting on a cusion on the opposite side of Risa, she smiled at them both and looked around. One thing she loved to do was people watch and it was very interesting to her to watch his family interact with one another.
"Tonight the celebration begins?" she asked, glancing back at Ra and Risa.
Risa nodded. "Whe we are young, Ra-ne and I like this night. Sometimes we can stay up all night." She smiled and hugged her knees to her chest as she listened to the conversation going on around them. "They don't talk of much interesting things." She said looking to Ra for confirmation and perhaps translation.
Ra nodded. "Just women gossip. Births marriages and deaths of people they know. Darya will dissapear in a minute because they always get on to her when they get to the marriage part." He smirked and looked out to the kitchen. "Would you like to meet my uncle? He's a science teacher."
Obie watched Risa as she replied and then Ra as he filled in. She smirked at his comment about Darya, then followed his eyes to the kitchen.
"Um... sure," she smiled and pushed herself up to her feet. Again she had to slip her hands into her pockets to keep herself from reaching out to him and she glanced around again as she waited for him to lead the way.
Leaving the room of chattering woment behind they entered the large kitchen. Filled with heat, steam and perfumed aromas. "Uncle Arash?" He said stepping towards the shorter man who was abosorbed in his art. "Can Obie and I help you with anything?"
Arash turned and smiled. "Pleased to meed you." He said, grabbing the chance to use his limited english. Earlier he had been swept behind the women and trampled by Yazmin's son. "I went to america, for university. Where do you live?" He asked turning back to the grill.
To Ra he spoke in Persian. "You two can make the bread." he said gesturing to a large ball of dough in a bowl.
Obie smiled warmly at Arash. She glanced to Ra when he asked her where she lived and decided to just go with the easy answer, even if it was no longer where she called home.
"I'm very pleased to meet you as well," she smiled. "I'm from Texas. Where did you go to university?" she asked, glancing again to Ra and joining him over at the bowl of dough.
