Kyoki Marie Hm. See, I always figured that when God made us in His image, it didn't mean our physical bodies. *shrugs* I mean, if that were the case, wouldn't we all be nearly identical? I figured it meant our spirits- that we were made to be able to be loving, caring, individual people who have free will, rather than like the animals who obey instinct and react- we are the "thinking animal", although I hate the term... after all, my dog is smarter than some people I know. XD
But I always felt that God created me to be like Him in my ability to choose right and wrong. I've no clue if He's got a body or not... I never thought about it. XD
And yeah, we would look all the same. No uniqueness anymore surprised
...... eek
well, at least no one would have to think he/she is better than another confused

It's all reliant on personal interpretation, as most all spiritual beliefs are. I'm getting a very solid feeling that I should probably stop ranting about it now. So, uhm. . . yeah. I think I'll listen to my gut oin this one.

I'm asking because plants aren't inherantly important to mine, you know? (They are to me, but to Christianity as a whole, a plant is a plant.)
I know in Wicca, plants play a vital role as many have magical or mystical properties.
So what are some of the magical properties of plants that y'all know?

Well, as stated in the forum on Sage, that is used for the cleansing of an area for it's use of spellcraft. Lavender is common for that purpose as well.
Dragon's blood is an extract used for enhancing a spell's effectiveness.
There are a lot of magics that deal with tantra (sexual energies fueling spells) and with those, you usually have to use a very powerful aphrodesiac. In that case, plants or their derrivitives are used often because they are safe and effective (ie: ylang ylang, sandalwood, rose, and others).
Sometimes to induce trances for spellwork, there are natural hallucinagins that are used. That can range from something like marijuana or paiote to shrooms or opium.
And depending on the spell itself, specific herbs may be called for. For example, the spell I cast for my sister (though effective, it was not) called for cinnamon.

Kyoki Marie As most of the guild knows by know, I'm Christian. I've been reading my Bible, and I've noticed that on a whole, the Bible doesn't mention herbs- at least not the parts I've read. So I'm making a more active effort (in the laziest way possible, via the net) to find out where herbs are mentioned in the old or new testaments.
I know that we have a lot of pagans and wiccans here, also, and I'm certain we have our fair share of most faiths. Thusly....
Discuss: What does your faith say about herbs?
If only I had a faith! If I had one it would be some type of pagan/nature-ish one. I tried religion but I do not have the discipline or imagination for it. The fact is I just do not know how to be spiritual. I came from a family with total disregard for the earth and all that exists. Most of my family claims to be Christian but does not follow it. As for herbs, I suppose I use them almost religiously, if that counts? The only herbs that were treated with the utmost respect in my family was pot. But that had nothing to do with Christianity! xd

They were all too absorbed in their own mental issues and insecurities to really be faithful to their religion.

Henbane, if you want a faith, then take a serious look at the ones offered. If you don't want to fight with the disciplines, then rather than saying "I'm a such and such" or "I want this or that", try just following your way. You say you use herbs religiously- that's something that's -your way-. If you believe in God, then find your way to worship Him, like I did. If you believe in Gaia, find your way to worship her. If you prefer not to worship a deity, then rather than becoming of a "religion", why not take some time to be with yourself? Peace comes in very unique places, but it only comes when you're true to your beliefs.
Everyone believes in something. Even if you only believe in yourself, or in the power of the plants you hold in your hands, you believe in -something-.
