My Conscience

Chimerism is really neat. Discovery Health had a show on it a while back and it just blew my mind.
Chimeras only have on consciousness though. They may have two sets of DNA, but that doesn't mean they are actually two people. Otherwise you'd also have to argue that identical twins are really only one person since they have the same DNA.
In the episode of House M.D., the guy had 2 consciouses. One person was the normal kid, the other one was someone with a memory of being abducted by aliens. It wasn't dissociative identity disorder
xd They said it was chimerism.
The kid did not have two consciouses. There were not two people.
The kid had sections of his body that were from the other set of DNA. That second set of DNA was damaged, which is why he had heart problems etc. When the boy was seeing the aliens it was not because his twin was conscious and remembering an abduction. What really happened was that part of his brain was made up of that faulty DNA and it was not working correctly. The neurons in that area were firing when they shouldn't have, and that brain activity happened to activate visual hallucinations.
Although there were two sets of DNA here there was only one conscious person. This was absolutly nothing like dissociative identity disorder.
